Chapter 151: CHAPTER 148
The entire mansion shook violently.
King, Queen, Who's-Who, and everyone present were stunned. They quickly retreated, clearing the way for Kaido.
Kaido raised his mace, and jet-black airflow along with purple thunder converged onto it. Just the sight of his stance was enough to reveal the sheer, terrifying power behind his next strike.
"That guy is done for. I guess even Boss Kaido can't bear a single blow," Who's-Who gloated.
In truth, there weren't many beasts in the entire Beast Pirates who could withstand Kaido's mace.
Just as the tense atmosphere reached its peak and Kaido was about to swing his mace, Alastor, who was being battered, suddenly spoke. His words left Kaido stunned and caused his momentum to falter.
"Father-in-law, I am ready to accept your mace."
Ha?!
Father-in-law?!
Kaido's eyeballs widened, bigger than bull's eyes.
Alastor had actually addressed Kaido as "Father-in-law."
Ha? What a joke!
Everyone present nearly questioned their own sanity, their ears unsure if they had heard correctly.
Queen's tongue and eyeballs shot out as he fell backward, shouting incoherently:
"This, this, this... this is impossible! He was struggling with Master Yamato... Could it be that kind of relationship?"
King also found it hard to believe, his gaze shifting toward Alastor with strange intensity.
Just moments ago, King had seen Alastor as reckless and dismissive of Kaido's authority. To him, only Yamato, the son of Kaido, was entitled to such defiance. No one else should dare to exhibit such behavior.
But now, King couldn't ignore the obvious implications: if Alastor truly had a relationship with Yamato, then he had unknowingly become Kaido's son-in-law.
"Him?" Who's-Who muttered, his cigarette falling from his mouth. "Master Yamato… Master Yamato, who always regarded himself as a man? How could it be… this guy? Could he be using this to escape punishment, playing games with Boss Kaido?"
Sasaki swallowed hard, his mind reeling. "It's hard to imagine Master Yamato as a woman. Even if he were… why him? What gives him the right?"
"Giggle!" Black Maria was stunned for a moment, then smirked pretentiously. "You two, don't be jealous. Brother Alastor is very handsome. No way could he be deceiving Boss Kaido like that. Unless he's willing to be hammered into meat paste."
Such a claim couldn't be a lie—it would be too easily exposed. Any falsehood would only lead to more severe punishment.
Ulti's mouth under her mask was so wide that an egg could fit inside. Smoke began pouring from her nostrils, ears, and the top of her head as she shouted:
"He has such a relationship with that bastard Yamato? No wonder they're both equally hateful! Damn it! I want to kill this vile couple together!"
Page One desperately grabbed his sister, trying to calm her down. Though shocked, he wasn't as surprised as the others. After all, he often followed Alastor and had sensed something, though he hadn't taken it seriously.
Now, with their relationship confirmed, Page One could only sigh inwardly. "Only Brother Alastor could conquer a terrifying woman like Young Master Yamato."
Then he glanced at his sister, Ulti. She was just as scary and violent as Yamato. It would be wonderful if such a woman could be tamed by the right man and become gentler.
The previously tense atmosphere in the mansion faded with Alastor's words.
Kaido, who was still shocked, seemed struck by a bolt from the blue. He froze in place, the domineering energy and thunder around his mace dissipating without trace.
His eyes widened like copper bells, countless thoughts flashing through his mind in an instant.
Yamato's birth was a mistake—a failure Kaido had long since regretted. He had hoped to mold Yamato into something better, but instead, his daughter worshiped his enemies, particularly Kozuki Oden. That, Kaido reflected, was the biggest failure of his life.
But now, Yamato had changed. She no longer admired Kozuki Oden but instead aspired to become someone even more dangerous—Joy Boy.
Kaido seethed, wondering what had caused such a transformation.
At first, Kaido suspected that Yamato had read some forbidden book, but he couldn't find any trace of it.
Gradually, Kaido began to suspect that there might be someone behind Yamato. However, there shouldn't be anyone bold enough to defy his will on Onigashima.
Didn't they all remember how some of his subordinates, who had shown sympathy toward Yamato as a child and provided him with food, were destroyed by Kaido?
Kaido couldn't fathom any member of the Beast Pirates bold enough to secretly contact Yamato.
It wasn't until Alastor appeared, refusing summons, acting on his own, and even transferring to the Wano capital with Yamato, that Kaido began to suspect some sort of collusion.
Before today, Kaido had intended to confront Alastor about this, but the joker's death had consumed his thoughts, leaving him too angry to address it.
In any case, Kaido hadn't anticipated the situation to go beyond mere collusion. The reality was far more complicated than he had assumed.
Kaido felt deeply hurt—after all, he was Yamato's father. Such a significant family matter should have been brought to his attention.
Grabbing a nearby jar of sake, Kaido downed several liters in one go, shattering the jar in a fit of drunken frustration.
His massive, seven-meter-tall frame swayed, as though he might collapse at any moment.
"No, Mr. Kaido is drunk," King said in shock.
As Kaido's lover, Black Maria covered her mouth and chuckled. "Mr. Kaido, though cruel to Master Yamato on the surface, clearly cares deeply. This must have been a shock."
Turning to Alastor, Black Maria rolled her eyes and said,
"Tsk, little brother, you're truly capable. You managed to abduct our Young Master Yamato without anyone noticing."
Alastor maintained a composed expression, though internally, he felt quite proud. Yamato, who had always claimed to be a man, wouldn't have shown any affection—at most, some brotherly connection.
It took Alastor over three years of patience and effort to subtly change that dynamic. Looking back, it wasn't easy.
"Hey, bastard!" Kaido suddenly slurred, his tongue lolling. "When did it start?"
He was clearly asking when Alastor's relationship with Yamato had begun.
"More than three years ago, when I was still an unknown little captain," Alastor replied without hesitation.
Kaido hammered his chest and let out a thunderous yell. "More than three years!"
Tears streamed down his face as he burst into laughter, the line between crying and laughing blurred.
Kaido was now fully in his drunken state—what King recognized as Drunken state. In this state, Kaido became emotionally unstable, swinging between laughter, tears, and irrational behavior.
King retreated to the edge of the room, wide-eyed, realizing the gravity of Kaido's current condition.
"I'm a failed father!" Kaido sobbed, clutching his chest.
Queen, still on the ground, let out a strange scream. "This is the result of drinking!"
Alastor blinked, his head throbbing with disbelief. "Father-in-law, really?"
Kaido, now fully in his drunken stupor, looked at Alastor with tear-filled eyes.
"So, after all this time, have all my grandchildren been born?"
Alastor's head was full of black lines. "Not yet, father-in-law... but I'll try my best."
Kaido stared intently at Alastor, making the latter feel increasingly uneasy.
After a long pause, Kaido burst into laughter again, his joy overwhelming.
"You look good, and your strength is not bad. You're enough to be my son-in-law! Hurry up, I want to hold my grandson, hahahahaha!"
His laughter echoed through the mansion, shaking the walls.
Queen screeched once more. "This is euphoric drunkenness!"
Hearing Kaido's laughter, Who's-Who and Sasaki exchanged glances.
Had Boss Kaido really accepted Alastor as his son-in-law, even overlooking such a serious crime as killing a joker without permission?
They couldn't help but feel envious—Alastor's luck seemed beyond comprehension.
Page One let out a sigh of relief. Though he believed in Alastor's strength, if Kaido ever decided to go full-force, it wouldn't be a joke.
However, King and Queen, who had served Kaido the longest, weren't so easily fooled.
Kaido's drunken state was unpredictable—one moment joyful, the next enraged. They knew the anger would come, and when it did, it would be far more terrifying than the current euphoria.
Alastor, aware of this, felt his nerves tighten, the electric energy within him ready to unleash at a moment's notice.
"Why are you so nervous?" Kaido chuckled, approaching Alastor with staggering steps.
