The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 52 - Wrong Venue?

Jiang Hui didn’t know if she was just being impulsive or what, but before she realized it, she had already submitted her application form at the museum’s front desk and was on her way home.

What was she even doing…

Jiang Hui’s rationality told her that she was just a liberal arts student who couldn’t even draw an egg as well as others. Engaging in intricate crafts like mecha-making was nothing short of self-degradation.

However, people often find themselves intrigued by fields they are unfamiliar with and sometimes feel the desire to break out of their comfort zones.

Perhaps it was a sudden whim, but at that moment, Jiang Hui felt an overwhelming curiosity about the mechas from the countless futuristic novels she had read, which soared across the stars. She wanted to get a closer look at this era’s weapons that granted interstellar humans seemingly limitless combat power.

So, today, she had set out to participate in this activity.

Though the experimental class was jointly hosted by the Book Museum and Dongbo Group, the museum’s financial power was not on par with that of large corporations. Therefore, the museum took the lead in inviting well-known figures from various sectors, scholars, and even experts, providing a wealth of materials and data. Dongbo Group was responsible for the venue and other physical arrangements.

The experimental class was scheduled to be held at the headquarters of Dongbo Group located on this planet.

Dongbo Group is a well-known interstellar conglomerate, involved in the manufacturing of starships, interstellar spacecraft, and various automated transportation vehicles. They have also made significant achievements in the field of specialized smart products… However, this is not the most prominent industry for Dongbo Group. Currently, the group is famous for producing giant combined mechas, and there are not many manufacturers in the entire interstellar region capable of creating such mechas. Furthermore, Dongbo Group is one of the leaders in this field.

This sounds much more advanced than the high-tech industries on Blue Star, and it’s even more sophisticated. Jiang Hui had not yet come into contact with the products of this group in her life, and there were many other areas she hadn’t explored.

The headquarters of Dongbo Group on Planet 732 is located in the First Ring, but it’s quite far from the Hailusi Group, while being relatively close to the Book Museum. Jiang Hui vaguely remembered that the museum had indeed collected a considerable number of books about mechas. So it wasn’t difficult to understand why these two seemingly unrelated organizations collaborated to host this event.

She had often been to the First Ring in recent days, so navigating her way there was no obstacle, and she easily found her destination.

The building of Dongbo Group on this planet is a uniquely designed circular structure, adorned with large reflective metal surfaces that gleam brightly in the sunlight, making it the most dazzling “star” in the area.

Jiang Hui roughly calculated the time and felt it was appropriate to enter now. So she confidently followed the crowd toward the bustling entrance of the group.

Since the headquarters building looked quite large from the outside, Jiang Hui didn’t think to wander around inside looking for a place. Instead, she naturally approached the front desk staff to ask for directions.

But… was there something strange or inappropriate about what she was wearing today?

Jiang Hui, who had already convinced herself that her appearance was no different from that of the interstellar people, felt a bit puzzled. She shouldn’t have exposed any flaws.

However, why did the female staff member glance at her oddly, even though it was subtle and fleeting? Jiang Hui was sensitive enough to notice immediately. She couldn’t understand what about her would draw such a peculiar look.

But she also recognized that her experiences were indeed quite bizarre. Even in the current interstellar age, where time and space travel had been achieved, her story would still be considered an unbelievable oddity. Few would likely believe it if she told them, let alone make the connection.

Realizing this, Jiang Hui was no longer like a startled bird, anxious about the differences in her core identity, fearing that others might discover her soul came from Blue Star, millions of light-years away.

Flaws in a person often emerge from an increasing number of explanations and concealments. If she wanted to maintain her composure, she needed to learn patience, to speak and act less, and to care less about external opinions. If others couldn’t find anything to hold against her, she could maintain the upper hand.

So even though she sensed a certain strangeness in others’ attitudes toward her, Jiang Hui didn’t hastily speak or probe; she pretended to be oblivious. Instead, she casually observed them as they walked, secretly raising her vigilance.

Of course, she didn’t think that anything dangerous would casually occur in the interstellar regions, which were generally safe outside of battlefields. At least, she didn’t expect anyone to openly harm her. It was just an instinctive feeling of caution, and her inner alertness remained high.

However, nothing happened as she was led to the grand assembly hall where the experimental class was being held. The staff’s actions and expressions were normal, making her worries seem excessive.

Jiang Hui politely thanked the staff and then confidently pushed open the door to the assembly hall. The noisy sounds hit her face immediately; there were quite a few people inside. It reminded her of the bustling lecture halls back in college on Blue Star, where things were always this lively before class started.

Sigh, who would have thought that in this new life, she would still start as a student?

Thinking this, Jiang Hui took a few steps inside. But as she got closer, the brightly lit room suddenly illuminated the situation clearly. Jiang Hui, who had just entered, found her previously calm and confident demeanor severely disrupted; she felt a bit flustered.

Suddenly, Jiang Hui understood why the front desk staff had looked at her with a slightly strange gaze earlier. It seemed she had overthought it; they didn’t mean any harm.

As she approached, she realized that this so-called hands-on mecha class was actually a gathering of children.

In the large assembly hall, looking from the entrance toward the back revealed a massive crowd, a sea of people so dense that it was hard to see the end. It seemed to accommodate at least tens of thousands of people. Such a spectacular scale was something Jiang Hui had rarely seen on Blue Star, achievable only in an interstellar society with highly developed technology and resources.

Moreover, that wasn’t the main point. To her surprise, most of the attendees were children, shorter and with youthful appearances compared to adults. All sorts of ethnicities were represented; even those whose heights were comparable to teenagers still had an unmistakably youthful expression.

Especially the rows of kids in the front; upon seeing Jiang Hui enter, they all exhibited varying degrees of curiosity, their gazes reminiscent of the earlier staff member who had guided her.

So, was she really unaware that she had wandered into a kindergarten science class? Would it be embarrassing to turn back the way she came now?
