The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 46 - Level A

Why bother?

As Jiang Hui reflects on these obscure memories, she feels a sense of emotion. It’s no wonder that others perceive the original body as acting impulsively; she indeed seems somewhat childish.

If she hadn’t chosen to immigrate to a permanent star system, perhaps this tragedy wouldn’t have occurred. Unfortunately, it’s too late to say anything now; everything has become a reality.

Now, it has worked out for Jiang Hui, as being away from the original body’s acquaintances has made her life in the interstellar world much easier.

In short, the original body left the inner star system in a huff due to some rumors and malicious gazes. She gave up the rich educational resources and advantageous location of the inner star system to come to a permanent star system that was less desirable, which indeed seemed unworthy.

If you ask her, the original body ran away because those people wanted to bully an orphan, looking for a sense of superiority and existence at her expense. They perhaps wanted to see the “genius” favored by the family show a disheartened expression, as if that would elevate their own status to that of the upper class.

However, in fact, some of those coming to watch the spectacle may not be in a better position than her.

That silly girl, the original body, had a big temper; she turned her back and never planned to return.

Jiang Hui, on the other hand, did not have such ambition. She had come midway and had no real concept of the interstellar situation, especially since she had been an ordinary clerical worker in her previous life, so she naturally couldn’t fulfill the original body’s military aspirations.

Thus, she felt that having a B-level mental strength wasn’t too bad—it was above average for an ordinary person, and even enlisting required several layers of scrutiny to qualify. Jiang Hui was quite satisfied with her current situation.

After all, she understood herself well: an ordinary person, a liberal arts student, a lamb in a peaceful era; living a safe and sound life would mean her time in this world was not in vain.

Jiang Hui overlooked the fact that she would still undergo a third awakening, which was still uncertain. She also neglected the reality that she would soon enter an Intermediate Academy to study in the infantry department.

The next day, Jiang Hui arrived at the hospital’s re-examination department at the scheduled time to wait for her check-up.

The medical practitioner, Michael, was a middle-aged man with high cheekbones and a prominent nose, appearing to be quite old. Even among the long-lived interstellar people, he seemed to be of a considerable age.

His high cheekbones and prominent nose were somewhat different from those of Mr. Calet; they were even more pronounced, yet he had black hair and brown eyes, resembling the Germanic race from Blue Star. He gave off an imposing presence.

However, he clearly matched his appearance; his initial demeanor was very serious, and his words and tone were earnest and stern, unlike the impression Mr. Calet gave.

Jiang Hui felt a bit intimidated by him; she was somewhat afraid of serious people. However, certain meticulous details during his examination made her feel that beneath his serious exterior was likely a softer interior, allowing her to relax.

The examination took a long time, as the comprehensive machine used was quite complicated. Under Michael’s guidance, she didn’t feel even a hint of impatience. Soon enough, they reached the end of the examination.

Jiang Hui was led into a side room that appeared to be specifically designated for re-examination patients. Inside, it didn’t have the typical austere decor of a hospital; instead, it was very cozy and relaxed. The tables and chairs were decorated in a homey style, and a large light screen was even hung on the wall, capable of projecting movies.

Before Michael went to verify the data and documents, he instructed a nurse outside to prepare some snacks and tea for Jiang Hui, leaving her alone in the room.

After a while, she felt… quite peaceful? No wonder they prepared these things; after all, everyone knows why they are at the hospital. Even with the space set up to be relaxing, it was hard to fully calm down when they were still preoccupied with their results.

However, Jiang Hui’s thoughts were not focused on that. She hadn’t slept well last night and was preoccupied with certain matters, feeling as if she were sleepwalking through the morning. She kept thinking she had forgotten something but couldn’t quite remember what it was.

Now she finally recalled what she had forgotten—she hadn’t communicated with Miss Jian about the donation matter yet.

That morning, she had received all the compensation from the Hailusi Group, and at a glance, it was quite an impressive sight.

Jiang Huai sent a message to the Hailusi Group confirming that she received their compensation and informed them that there was no need to contact her again, then she simply ignored it.

She initially intended to communicate with Miss Jian immediately about the donation, but she received a notification from her apartment regarding filling out a check-in form and completing some procedures. As a result, she ended up being busy all morning and unknowingly forgot.

Now, sitting quietly, Jiang Hui finally remembered that she had forgotten about Miss Jian.

Just then, Michael, the medical practitioner, also told her that it would take about half an hour to get all the data, so she could just briefly communicate with Miss Jian; otherwise, the day would pass again without her doing so.

Fortunately, Miss Jian seemed to be available at this time; as soon as she inquired, the call was immediately connected.

As soon as the light brain communication was connected, Jiang Hui noticed that the other party’s tone was somewhat hesitant as she asked, “Ms. Jiang, did you send the message by mistake?”

Jiang Hui shook her head, indicating she hadn’t sent it by mistake—it was indeed as she said.

The other party appeared somewhat surprised: “Are you really sure you want to donate this much? Perhaps you should reconsider; after all, you are still a minor and an incomplete awakened one, and you will need this money in many ways in the future.” Especially if she wanted to attend a good school, this amount of money might help her navigate more smoothly.

Jiang Hui shook her head again. She had already made up her mind long before receiving this compensation; she intended to use half for the donation, which would serve as a bit of merit for the deceased original self—if she had indeed passed away, it would also leave a limited trace of her existence in this world.

She didn’t plan to use the other half of the compensation either; she would keep it. If the original self had any regrets or miraculously awoke again in this body, it would provide a foundation for her to stand on.

In the end, she would only leave behind the nutritional expenses and miscellaneous fees compensated by the Hailusi Group, which should be sufficient.

After confirming several times, Miss Jian understood that Jiang Hui had made her decision and didn’t press the matter further. With a complex expression, she nodded and temporarily ended the communication to prepare the relevant donation documents for Jiang Hui.

Coincidentally, just as Miss Jian hung up, Michael finished recording the examination data and entered the small room.

He took a thick stack of documents and sat down in front of Jiang Hui, his expression slightly peculiar as he said, “Ms. Jiang, please have a seat…”

“May I ask if you still retained the same level during your recent second awakening?”

Jiang Hui noticed his strange expression and nodded in response.

“Do you know that there has been a significant change in your mental power level?”

“What change?”
“You are now certified to have a mental power level of A.”
