Chapter 509: Chapter 507
The moment the giant mole entered Sally's En field, she abruptly bent her knees and leapt high into the air.
The mole burst from the ground—but Sally was no longer on the surface.
A black bomb dropped from above.
The giant mole's pupils contracted.
Real moles have extremely poor eyesight, but this wasn't a real mole—it was a Nen user. Her vision was the same as a normal human's.
Bang!
Sally's second ability activated.
Besides long-range sniping, she also possessed a mid-to-close-range explosive technique. And compared to her sniping, this explosion packed even more destructive power.
Under the blast's force, the mole was thrown straight back into the sand.
Her body was immediately covered in countless small cuts—and one large, gaping wound. Blood gushed from her injuries, soaking the sand.
Panicked, the mole tried to burrow deeper into the ground to escape.
Sally pulled the trigger again.
Bang!
A bullet shot toward the mole.
At the same time, Ruco launched her own attack.
Compared to Sally's shot, Ruco's power wasn't as overwhelming. She hadn't been using Nen for very long. But her aim was sharp.
Against a heavily wounded enemy, even Ruco's attack could prove fatal.
Both bullets struck the mole's body.
Ron glanced at Ruco and Sally, nodding in approval.
Their coordination was excellent—exactly what he expected.
In this case, one plus one didn't just equal two—it unleashed a force far greater, multiplying their strength exponentially
Once Ruco advanced to C-rank, the two of them could provide powerful ranged support. Even against a B-rank Nen user, they would pose a significant threat.
In Nen battles, numbers mattered too.
While manipulating sand to continue slaughtering the crowd, Kroll's gaze shifted toward them.
Unlike his enraged subordinates, Kroll was calm and rational.
Rosgell's body was still incomplete.
The Mingbo Republic had spent years trying to retrieve Rosgell's sealed remains from the Kingdom of Fiora. Even after all that, they had recovered only half.
A torso.
One arm.
One leg.
The other leg, the second arm, and the head remained in Fiora.
And with the unstable internal situation in the Mingbo Republic, Kroll's faction couldn't wait any longer. They intended to use a sacrificial ritual to awaken Rosgell ahead of schedule.
But with only half a body, the ritual required a massive amount of life energy. It had to be drenched in living essence to trigger revival.
Even though Rosgell would not regain his full strength, his revived form would still surpass A-rank Nen users.
Very few in the world could compete with that.
And once partially revived, Rosgell would have a connection to the missing parts of his body. He would be able to sense and find them.
Once the rest of his body was recovered and absorbed, he would be reborn in his complete form. At that point, he would surpass even the strength he had in life.
Kroll's faction could then rely on his power to accomplish things that had once been impossible.
Long ago, Mingbo hadn't even been a country. It was a patchwork of scattered tribal alliances. Only after being conquered and colonized by the Kingdom of Fiora were these lands unified.
They became a colony for centuries.
Then Rosgell appeared. He led a revolution, expelled Fiora's military, and declared independence. That was when the Mingbo Republic first came into existence.
Now, even as one of the V5 nations, the Republic remained fragmented.
Unlike other unified countries, it was a coalition of forces.
The title of "king" was only symbolic. Real control lay with the dukes.
The power structure included one dominant duke holding nearly half the nation, four secondary dukes controlling another forty percent, and the rest divided among minor dukes.
Kroll belonged to one of the lesser factions—one of the minor dukes.
Several of these smaller powers had allied together, but their ambition reached far beyond their current status.
That was why they coveted Rosgell's remains.
But even within the Republic, not everyone agreed with using a sacrificial ritual. That's why Kroll's group came here to perform it—out of sight.
The goal wasn't just to avoid sacrificing their own people. More importantly, they wanted secrecy.
The bounty placed on Kroll by the Republic was nothing more than a cover.
"These newcomers are strong. Their bodies must hold a considerable amount of life energy. And fewer people showed up than expected.
If we include these ones, the amount should be just right."
While Kroll's subordinates were enraged over their comrade's deaths, Kroll didn't care in the slightest. If the ritual required more life energy, he would kill his own men.
And if that still wasn't enough, he would kill himself.
The giant mole returned to Kroll's side.
"Lord Kroll."
Her body shrank and shifted back to the brown-haired woman.
"I'm sorry. I failed. What should we do next? Will you act personally?"
Kroll replied calmly, "Go distract the sniper. Don't concern yourself with anything else."
"Yes, Lord Kroll." She reverted into mole form again and dove back underground.
She emerged near Sally, harassing her movements from a distance—but no longer dared to get too close. Badly wounded, she no longer had the confidence to confront Sally directly.
And Kroll clearly had no intention of giving her backup.
"She can hold out a bit longer. I'd rather spend the time killing more people. When she dies, I'll make my move."
"That would be the optimal outcome for the offering."
On the other side, the B-rank Nen user facing Misty gritted his teeth.
"Damn it. This girl's ability is such a pain."
Misty's Flame Body had him thoroughly restrained. But more than anything, he was confused—aside from the mole woman, no one else had come to help.
Weren't they supposed to be a team?
Where were his allies?
