Chapter 233 - Divine Cat Mii-chan, the Popular One of Brocken Mountain
Chapter 233: Divine Cat Mii-chan, the Popular One of Brocken Mountain
I transported to Fang King’s cave and set up the teleportation gate that Blaze King gave me. Setting it up just meant burning a piece of paper, really. Some kind of magic circle floated in the air. If you go inside, it will transport you to Blaze King’s place. But I won’t do that right now—I won’t be able to return immediately if I go over there…
“Welcome, Lady Mii, Lord Nero. We’re glad to have you.”
“Thank you for coming, Lady Mii, Lord Nero.”
“I’m here today because I have a few things to discuss.”
“Mii~”
“Feel free to say anything.”
“Lady Mii and Lord Nero are our benefactors. If there’s anything we can do, just let us know.”
“Actually, I ended up becoming a noble…”
I explained the situation to Fang King and Rodem in detail. Even while we were talking, the little ones gathered around. I couldn’t see Mii-chan anymore because of them.
Fang King tried to shoo them away, but since Mii-chan seemed happy, I continued chatting while enjoying some fluffy cuddles. I’ll grill some fish for them later. It feels like all my efforts have paid off, and I’ve completely succeeded in taming them.
“We have no objections as long as it’s Lady Mii and Lord Nero.”
“If it were some strange human, we might oppose it, but with Lady Mii and Lord Nero, we trust you completely.”
At that point, I presented the draft of the treaty created between the Kingdom of Lumiere and the Grand Duchy of Hildenburg. From what I could see, there didn’t seem to be any problems with it, but Fang King and Rodem might interpret it differently.
“Do human hunters enter this mountain?”
“We plan to prohibit entry except for hunters guarding caravans. If any issue arises where we need human assistance, just let me know. I’ll gather people on my end.”
“It would be a relief to avoid conflicts with humans.”
Regarding herb collection, we plan to allow it as long as they don’t venture too deep into Brocken Mountain. Since the mountain is a treasure trove of herbs, monopolizing it would cause discontent. However, entering too deep will be at their own risk, and I’ll leave the handling of such cases to Fang King and the others.
“What if the Goblin King crosses into the Spider Queen’s territory?”
“In that case, we will join forces with the humans to fight. There’s a Dragon Knight garrison nearby, so they will likely cooperate with us.”
“And if we receive a request for reinforcements from the Spider Queen?”
“Unfortunately, we don’t have a formal alliance with the Spider Queen. But since you seem to have a cooperative relationship with her, you’re free to send reinforcements if you wish. Of course, if the Spider Queen asks us humans for reinforcements, we’d like to respond.”
“That would be difficult.”
“Insect-type monsters have trouble communicating with humans, so it’s hard to imagine us working together unless something extraordinary happens.”
But I feel like something extraordinary is happening right now…
“Is there ever a situation where we’d help humans?”
“If such a situation arises, we’d be grateful for the help. But again, it’s unlikely unless something extreme happens.”
Finally, I told them that the money paid to Fang King and his group by the Kingdom of Lumiere and the Grand Duchy of Hildenburg would be managed by me, so they could tell me if there was anything they wanted.
“Liquor…”
“We’ll need blankets for winter.”
Well, I’ll buy those accordingly. They’d probably be happy if I brought fish regularly too.
The conversation shifted to the road construction while I continued to enjoy the fluffiness of the little ones.
“We don’t mind.”
“Build it wherever you like.”
“That’s helpful.”
“Mii~”
“The problem is finding people to do the work.”
“How about asking the fairy folk?”
“Good idea. They’re skilled at that kind of thing.”
I see, that’s a solid plan. Not only would it solve the labor shortage, but it would also raise the status of the fairy folk. It might be nice to call the Brocken Mountain road ‘The Fairy Road.’ I’ll talk to the nearby villages first and see what they think.
Once we finished discussing everything, I prepared to get their signatures on the draft treaty, but then I wondered, how do I get them to sign? Maybe a paw print will do?
“Mii~?”
“I guess there’s no other choice.”
Fang King transformed into a human form. He was a wild and handsome man. But where did his clothes come from? Did his fur transform?
“You can transform?”
“Well, someone like me can, naturally. But it’s tough moving in this form.”
That makes sense. A creature used to walking on all fours suddenly switching to two legs would have trouble with just ‘walking.’
While Fang King signed the documents with a pen, I couldn’t read it… Is it in monster language? Well, I got the signature, so it’s all good.
While grilling fish, I played with the fluffy little ones. The white wolf was fluffy, the black leopard sleek, and the white and silver foxes joined in later. Is this heaven? Apparently, the white and silver foxes had recently joined Fang King’s group. They had been chased by the Goblin King and were rescued by Fang King, so they now live on Brocken Mountain.
It seems many races have been driven out by the Goblin King, with most fleeing to the Demon King’s domain in the west. A few have made it to the Spider Queen’s territory or Brocken Mountain.
Fluffy paradise. But I hate goblins.
“Mii~”
