The story of a hero in my hero academia

Chapter 11: 11) Welcome, Nozomi

9 months later

Nine months—the time a baby spends growing inside the mother's womb. And finally, today… my little sister is coming into the world. For my mother, this pregnancy hasn't been easy. This is already the third time we've come to the hospital this month, and this time we're pretty sure it's the real deal.

I'm sitting in the waiting room with my dad, who's pacing back and forth, trying to stay calm.

Spoiler alert: he's just making everything worse.

"Everything will be fine, right Hiro?" he asks me, sweating bullets.

"Yes, dad. Everything will be alright. Even the doctors said she's doing fine—despite how hard these nine months have been," I answered, while silently wondering who's supposed to be the parent and who's the child here.

It's better if I don't tease him though… he might actually faint. I'm not even joking. I know my dad too well.

40 minutes later

Finally, the doctor came out and said to my dad, "Congratulations, sir! She's a healthy little girl, and the mother is doing great. You can go in now."

My dad, overwhelmed with joy, hugged the doctor—honestly, he was this close to lifting him off the ground.

We walked into the room, and there she was.

My mom, tired but glowing with happiness, holding a tiny newborn in her arms. My little sister.

She had soft green hair, just like Dad(don' ask me how).

While I was talking with Mom, Dad was cradling his new daughter with tears in his eyes.

"Hiro, why don't you hold your sister?" Mom asked gently.

I froze.

I still had conflicted feelings about her.

Would I be betraying Steve?

Could I really protect her?

What if I fail again?

Do I even have the right?

"Are you sure it is—"

Dad didn't even let me finish the sentence. He just placed her in my arms.

And in that moment… the world shattered.

Everything around me disappeared.

I blacked out. The only thing I knew was that I was crying.

And in that instant, I understood something.

I will protect her.

Even if it costs me my life.

Damn everything else—no one will ever hurt my sister.

If I have to stand against the world itself, then so be it.

I'm sorry, Steve. I failed you. I couldn't give you more time.

But I won't fail her.

I miss you every day.

I love you.

And I hope you've found peace—because today, I've found a reason to keep going.

"So, have you decided on a name for her?" I asked my parents.

"Not yet," Dad replied. "We're still undecided. What do you suggest?"

I thought for a moment.

"Mmm… what about Nozomi?"

They both paused, then smiled.

"Yes," my mom said.

"I love it," added my dad. "It means 'hope', right?"

I nodded.

"Welcome to our family, little Nozomi," I whispered, gently touching her tiny hand.

She giggled.

And just like that… something in me healed.
