Chapter 391: Unconventional Alliance
The space cracked open, and through it, two people walked out.
Of course, they were none other than Neraxis and Gluttony.
When Evangeline and Violet finally spotted them, puzzled looks appeared on their faces.
But more so Evangeline, who approached Neraxis and gave him a peck on the cheek.
However, the faint connection that had been present earlier did not restore itself, almost as if he was blocking her away.
Neraxis noticed this, so with a mere tilt of his head, he restored the connection.
However, for Evangeline's own sake, he blocked away the memories of the conversation he had with Gluttony.
Notably, the part before his memories came back, and the small talk after.
Though... Neraxis rubbed his temples. I did feel strange after killing Wrath. It almost seemed like my anger disappeared completely.
At first, he thought he imagined it, but once he began seeing Lagus in a new light, he knew something was off.
And now that he was 100% certain, that meant he could finally do something about it.
Neraxis cleared his throat and glanced between the two confused women.
"He's going to be joining us for the time being."
"...?"
"He's what?" Evangeline's eyes widened. "Isn't he one of the people who made your life a living hell?"
"And I haven't forgiven him or the others for it," Neraxis replied flatly. "However, after a small development, it looks like I'll be needing him."
He turned to Violet.
"And you will be needed as well. So for the time being, I'll have to stop our arrangement."
Violet's brows furrowed.
"But you promised me you'd go through with it."
"And I did go through with it. Pride is dead, and so are Envy, Sloth, and Wrath," Neraxis said, narrowing his eyes. "Only Gluttony, Greed, and you are left. And I intend to keep it that way for the time being."
After all, if he killed Gluttony, he wasn't sure what would happen, and the same went for Greed.
Since they represented fragments of his shattered emotions, then killing them would permanently delete those emotions.
So with that in mind, the one he'd most like to keep alive was the Sovereign of Lust, since without her, he was doubtful he'd still feel anything for any of the girls.
Though I hope I'm just being paranoid. Maybe there's some way to get my other emotions back...
Without Pride, he no longer cared about his fighting style.
Whether it was class or even morality, he didn't differentiate at all. Even the small rivalry he had with Kael back in the day completely faded from his mind.
Without Sloth, he no longer wanted to sleep, and it felt as if he was now permanently in a state of alertness.
Wrath... without Wrath, he couldn't direct his hate toward the people that made his life miserable.
And as for Envy, he wasn't sure what that deleted.
He was never envious of anyone, or at least, not anyone that he could remember.
Still, putting those thoughts aside, he patted Evangeline's head.
"Don't worry. Things will change, but they won't change as much as you think."
Evangeline's brows furrowed.
"Then why are you hiding memories from me?"
"What do you mean?" Neraxis tilted his head.
But before he could continue his act, Evangeline stepped closer, glaring at him.
"I've been inside your mind long enough to know when there's a gap. In this case, right after you two entered the Void realm, the memories became all fuzzy and blurry. I couldn't make them out no matter how much I tried..."
She narrowed her eyes.
"And when I finally pushed through that blurry barrier blocking me, you know what I found? Nothing. You completely blocked those memories away from me."
Neraxis stared at her for a few solid moments, then let out a sigh.
"I promise I'll show them to you eventually."
She shook her head.
"Not good enough."
"Then what will satisfy you?" Neraxis asked. "I do want some privacy, and you snooping around my mind every single day is getting a little bothersome."
The moment he finished his words, Evangeline's brows twitched.
"What happened in there?"
It was clear she was skeptical of his change in attitude.
After all, he had already given her full permission to view his mind, so the sudden change was not subtle in the slightest.
And before replying, Neraxis picked up on that.
His promise seemed distant, so much so that he had nearly forgotten it.
Not much time had passed while they were talking with Gluttony, or so he wanted to think.
However, they did enter a realm between realms, and once he began thinking about it more rationally, his brows furrowed.
And with that, he opened his status screen and was met with an unbelievable result.

1,500 years almost... Neraxis thought, his gaze trembling.
And that was when Gluttony finally let out a chuckle.
"Sorry, I was going to watch the chaos unfold, but he's a bit more troubled than I expected," he remarked. "We were inside there for just over 1,000 years, so naturally, his memories might've been a bit jumbled up. So give him a bit of time, woman."
"Woman?" Evangeline tilted her head with a glare. "I'm not just any woman, so keep that filthy mouth of yours shut."
"Scary~" Gluttony raised his arms in defeat, then turned to Neraxis.
"Let's break the news to Greed, shall we?"
