The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 90: Bounty

Vacuse's stomach dropped as he watched the cloud approach him. "I am so fucked."

The cloud of bee constructs approached the carriage with incredible speed, but at the same time, all the Captain Meras stopped fighting immediately and they raised their hands. Even those struggling raised their hands.

Little stars of purple formed in their hands, shooting upward.

At the same time, their heads glowed with hot viciousness and the frightening beams shot out, blasting everything in front of them, even themselves and their enemies.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The stars also exploded, sending shockwaves rippling through the sky. Heat seared through the space, scorching everything in their paths.

Constructs melted like wax, runes flickering into oblivion and metal turning molten.

The ground cracked and shook, black smoke and dust billowed into the air, covering everything.

Vacuse watched with shock, and even everyone in the room was just as stunned. "This is the power of a Deepbonded Resonant rank A. The power of a Dragon Guard."

A height that Vacuse hadn't even reached. With his SSS rank, what would he be able to do then?

But the next moment, Vacuse's blood ran cold.

Not all of the constructs were destroyed. There were still enough of them, and they fell on the carriage with a buzzing sound, forming a dome around them and plunging them into darkness before they lit up, casting light on them.

"Ah, Vacuse. You have given me a lot of trouble, and I have spent a lot of money just to capture you. All my constructs are almost gone, but then again, I don't expect to meet a monster like that here. Mera, eh? I will remember that name."

Serenthar moved closer to the carriage, and Vacuse saw his form once again.

His face was cracked, and he had lost some of his silver luster, but he didn't seem that wounded.

Vacuse's heart began to beat fast, and he swallowed. He managed a smile. "Serenthar, do you really have to go this far? You've already lost this much. Why don't you give up?"

Vacuse could sense the hypocrisy in his own words, but he didn't care.

Serenthar paused, and his eyes narrowed. "I should give up? After I've spent this much on getting here? Do you know the amount I lost? The gold coins I don't want to even start thinking about? Do you know HOW MUCH YOU'VE COST ME!"

One of his hands punched the carriage, and the shield and runes surrounding it lit up. His other hand flickered and began to work on unraveling the runes.

Vacuse's eyes glanced at the shield dome, and his eyes fell. '...nothing is getting past that anytime soon..'

Serenthar noticed his glance, and he smiled. "Not all of my construct is dead, and the fight is still ongoing. Captain Mera would be late before she gets here.

"My mission is almost complete."

"What are we going to do now?" Ragna asked. His face was filled with fear he didn't even bother to hide.

Captain Valka's hand rested on his shoulder. "Once the carriage is compromised, I will give my all fighting while you run away."

Lord Ragna's face tightened. "Alright."

Harkon's face became solemn. "Lord Vacuse, we will do the same thing. Me and Captain Valka will hold him back while you make a break for it."

Vacuse didn't feel any relief from hearing that because he knew the two can't even stall Serenthar at all, not to talk of trying to buy time.

He thought he would reach the wilderness before he faced any troubles, but here he was, fighting for his life while the Standpoint Fortress was so near.

He gritted his teeth as the realization that he had no tricks to play settled in him. The only thing he could do now was try to talk his way out of it.

"Tell me, Serenthar. Why do you waste this much resources just to get to me? It's not a logical thing. Why does your boss want me this much?"

"You're like gold right now. But only alive. Hummm... more than gold. I'll say you are like a legendary construct!" Serenthar said, but he didn't stop working on the carriage, his fingers moving furiously around it, small strings connecting from his hand to the shield.

Vacuse grimaced. "I have a bounty on my head?"

Serenthar laughed. "Yes! Although right now it's a closed bounty that's only open to the Black Accord. But if we don't capture you soon, it'll be open to all!"

Vacuse gritted his teeth. He thought of who might have placed the bounty, and he came up blank.

The fact was, a lot of people don't like the Vorrakyn, and any one of them might have placed the bounty. And the amount placed... the amount that must have made the Black Accord ready to waste all that resources...

Vacuse shuddered.

"Who placed it?" he demanded.

Serenthar snorted. "You don't want to know them. It's an organization that even us have to bow to."

'....so... the Black Accord used that night to try carrying out different missions... what a shit show...'

Bam! Bam!

The dome lit up as it was hit from the outside, purple light flashing between the cracks of the bee constructs. But nothing happened as the dome remained standing, the bees buzzing.

Serenthar laughed. "The bees are my most powerful constructs. Can you believe it? I made them so that they could protect me in dangerous situations, but they are also great offensive methods!

"Once, I've killed whole villages with them. They stripped them of flesh, picked them clean, and left only the bones. They cost a lot, but they are worth it!"

Vacuse leaned forward slightly. "Is that so?"

'...now Vacuse... try it now!..' Rith's voice blasted in his mind.

Without hesitation, Vacuse threw himself towards the window, his hand pressed forward past the shield, and something dark and long shot out from his hand like dark lightning.

It was a Flicker Lance. A single one.

But as it tore through the air, the space around it warped a little.

It was a powerful attack by Vacuse's standards.

After all, he used all the Void Force in his Manaspace!
