The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 104: Named monsters

But no one was more shocked than the jellyfish man who was standing invisible nearby. He was shocked to the very core of his being.

What did he just witness? Of course, he had heard that Vacuse Vorrakyn had an SSS Dragon, but that wasn't what he was expecting at all.

He had met powerful beasts before, even those in the S rank, but nothing like the one he just saw—and that was only a projection. He felt fear as he watched the Vorrakyn's heir.

And he knew then that they couldn't let him live. Not only because of the bounty, but because the Black Accord had attacked the man that might one day be a terrifying Soulbearer.

They did not want that kind of threat to exist.

Or... could they control it? Jellyfish didn't think so. He had seen the way the boy looked down on everything with casual arrogance. No, they needed to kill him.

But how? What if he summoned that terrible Dragon again?

But Jellyfish paused and thought of all the clues that led up to that moment, and he came to the realization that they could indeed try to kill him.

After all, if he could, then he would have summoned the Dragon when Serenthar tried to kill him. And he saw him bring out something that the small Dragon ate.

With those clues arranged in his mind, the jellyfish man nodded to himself and collapsed. His presence vanished entirely from the area.

Vacuse looked around him and saw that he was the only one who still remained conscious, and the fact made him frown. '..which human shield will I use in case of trouble? But I doubt any monster would show themselves now with all the power clash that just happened...'

Rith snorted, the finger still in his mouth. '..I doubt there's any monster still as strong as the one you just faced...'

"That's a monster?" Vacuse frowned. That entity didn't look like a monster. It had felt like something more. Just thinking about it alone made his head ache.

'...you humans are stupid. You call everything you don't understand monsters. Even us Beasts once were called worse, but well, according to you humans, long ago, what you just saw is called a Titled Monster...'

Vacuse shuddered and he couldn't help but think of the pathways and the Beasts. "So you... the Void Dragon, are a...?"

Rith turned to him with exaggerated slowness. '...I don't know... we are beings that are more than that...'

Although his voice wasn't hard or harsh, Vacuse felt that Rith didn't really want to talk about it. He thought about it and how the information would affect him personally.

Then he shook his head. He didn't need to know now. But what he did need to know... "Are there more of the Titled Monsters still here?"

Rith snorted coldly. '..there shouldn't be more of them unless you head deeper into the Wilderness. Even if there are more here, they won't bother us. I have declared this place as my territory. What would want to fight a Dragon for that?...'

Vacuse looked at Rith. "You know, it would be nice if you can keep doing all of these things instead of just leaving me to do my thing. Like, running from enemies that are trying to kill me."

Rith snorted with irritation. '..fool, if you were more powerful than you are now, would I need to keep holding myself back? You are the one holding me back, you brat...'

'...the Blood Dragon blood acts as a source of power. Or do you want me to use up your life force just to power an attack...?'

Vacuse didn't reply right away.

It was really strange, their conversation. The two of them were looking at each other, but only Vacuse was speaking aloud.

'...then what about the thing you did with my eye like the last time? I would love to have a trump card...' Vacuse insisted.

Rith looked at him for a long time. '...in a few days you should be able to do it again... I've stored enough power for such to happen...'

Vacuse nodded.

He didn't like how things had been happening all around him without him having much say. Fighting the Titled Monster had given him a sense of relief.

And now, his hunger for more power only grew. "What is that thing in your mouth? It contains a lot of Force energy."

Rith looked smug. '..that's because it does contain it. With this, you can improve the power of your soul space and make it so it would be above the mid-tier of your current stage...'

Vacuse eyed it with a greedy look. "How do I extract the Force?"

'...normally you would meditate in front of it and slowly extract the Force, but that's going to take a lot of time. But since there's no time, you can directly eat it and I'll help you with the rest...'

Vacuse didn't feel the slightest irritation as he nodded. Since it was all about improving his power, all he felt was greed as his eyes glittered.

Irritation was what he felt when he was continuously beaten down, but now...

He reached for the finger, but Rith took it out of reach.

'...this is the flesh of a powerful entity. Eating it isn't a simple act, and you can explode if you don't control the energy well. Be careful...'

Vacuse gave him a carefree smile. "Ohhh... I don't know you care about me that much."

The only reply he got was that Rith flew toward him, threw the finger, and returned to the soul space.

Vacuse held the finger for a single breath.

The finger was dark, covered in bright yellow rust that made the air thrum. Powerful pressure flowed out of it so strongly that it made his ears pop.

But he didn't care as he threw it into his mouth and chewed.

It tasted like rot and rust, and despite himself, he grimaced. But his teeth shattered it, and he swallowed.

It was then that it hit.
