The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 100: Green eyed hound I

It was morning, after a week and two days since they left the Standpoint fortress. They haven't moved camp yet, and Vacuse was washing his face with water while he listened to Kagerou complain nearby.

"Things are too dull! I thought the Wilderness would be interesting, and we would have to fight more than our fair share of things!" Kagerou scowled at everything around him.

Harkon, who was standing nearby, glanced at him with raised brows but didn't say anything for a long time. Finally, he grunted and shook his head. "I like it like this."

Kagerou didn't seem impressed by the Captain's words, and he snorted coldly. "You're just as dull."

Suddenly, a voice interrupted them. It was Lyra. "The Wilderness is really dangerous. You shouldn't be wishing for us to run into dangerous situations."

Kagerou turned to her and snorted. "Yes... monsters are here, but what's the difference between fighting monsters and other humans? And I've been doing that for a long time!"

She shook her head gently. "Monsters at the same stage are stronger on average than a Soulbearer. And the Wilderness doesn't only have monsters.

"Although you can refer to them as monsters, they are of such astonishing might that most don't even call them that."

On a tree stump, Vacuse sat down and listened after he washed his face. All around, others were clearing the camp.

Kagerou snorted again. "Monsters are monsters! But then again, this is just a Wilderness and not a Dark Wilderness!"

Monsters are one of the dangers that humans face.

It was said that during an era, monsters were the absolute rulers of the world, and Wilderness covered everything. But then, Soulbearers and their beasts changed everything. They began to reclaim the Dark Wilderness.

It was said that not all the monster rulers and their followers were killed, and they must have gone into deep hiding in different Dark Wilderness.

Vacuse did not believe all of that. What he believed in, though, was that humans were still claiming lands from the Wilderness and that monsters also have strange powers of their own.

Kagerou was still going on, his face filled with light. "I don't understand why the Emperor didn't even clear all the Wilderness in our empire and use their trees for fuel in cooking!

"If I was..."

Suddenly, he stopped speaking and went still.

He wasn't the only one.

Everyone in the camp looked up as one when they heard the sound of laughter that suddenly filled the air. The laughter was filled with craziness and mad joy.

Everyone tensed, and Captain Mera moved close to Vacuse as she shouted, "Prepare yourself!"

The next instant, something small ran out of the surrounding trees that made all of them watch in surprise.

It was a small monster that looked like a wolf. But what made them all stare in surprise isn't the monster itself but the fact that the monster was weak, so weak that it was something they could kill with such ease.

And yet, it was what was making those sounds. The monster stopped and turned towards Vacuse, but it didn't make any moves as it just stared at him. Its image flickered, and it turned into a jellyfish that was half translucent.

Vacuse narrowed his eyes. "The Black Accord!"

At first, he wasn't feeling much, just suspicious, but now that he saw the jellyfish, he knew their relative peace was about to be over.

The jellyfish didn't say anything else as it instantly disappeared, leaving everyone stunned.

What just happened?

Nobody understood, but the Captain was already shouting orders for everyone to get into formation either way. Her facial expression was grim as she immediately shimmered, using her shift to turn into five copies of herself and immediately surrounded him.

Meanwhile, the Orcs had moved their heir into a monster hyena and closed ranks around him, leaving enough space between them and Vacuse as they saw him as a danger magnet.

Vacuse wasn't offended because he knew the appearance of the jellyfish meant that trouble was indeed coming.

And he was right.

The first sign was a smell that seemed to quickly cover the whole group. It smelled of both blood and musk.

It was the scent of the hound that carried the mating phenomenon, but now it seemed as if it had been mixed with blood, and as such, it was Vacuse's group that must have done it!

Of course, Vacuse and the others didn't understand things.

They didn't have the time to understand either as a baleful aura pressed on them!

The aura was so strong and filled with so much killing intent that Captain Mera's all turned their heads in one direction, eyes narrowed to complete slits.

Unlike most killing intent, the one that fell on the ground reeked of absolute promise of death that would leave anyone shaking.

And since the green-eyed hound were made up of different advancement stages, almost everyone was affected. Only Captain Mera appeared calm, but her eyes still flickered at the sense of danger that was approaching like lightning.

But even then, the Dragon Guards still did their jobs as they immediately split into different groups.

Three people stepped forward in the direction of the danger, and they raised their hands, fingers glowing green.

The ground rumbled and shook as a wall of earth and dirt rose up into the sky, overturning trees, forming an arc that bent around the group.

But the next instant, the sense of danger and the aura reached them. The stone wall shook and shattered as things burst through like lightning made of flesh.

Howls filled the air as the green-eyed hound appeared, their eyes flickering with hunger. The lead one was the biggest, with a slightly hunched back, and it sniffed the air to smell.

And the instant the hound howled with anger and pain. The aura around it intensified, and it let out a strange bark that made the ground rumble and the hair on everyone stand on end.

All the hounds instantly began to bark, their eyes filled with endless hunger and anger!
