The Sorcerers

Chapter 2: "The Emergence of Shadows: Training at the Limits of Power"

Chapter 2

(Two days after) the destruction of Misoya, the area was cordoned off and closed to the public. Forensic teams were scattered among the rubble, while media cameras broadcasted the shattered scene live. A news anchor's voice pierced through the tense atmosphere:

“We are now in Misoya. This area experienced a horrific incident two days ago, and investigation teams are working to uncover the cause of the massacre that claimed many lives. Stay tuned as we bring you the latest developments.”

---

At the School of Sorcery, Suero sat quietly in his room, watching the news with an unusual calm. His eyes wandered beyond the television, lost in thought. After a moment, he stood up, letting out a deep sigh, as if trying to shake off the burden inside him. The thought echoed in his mind: Master Sbyam summoned me…

He left his room slowly, heading toward the main gate of the school. As he walked through the courtyard, his gaze briefly landed on the fountain at its center, but he didn’t stop. His steps were steady, determined to reach the meeting point.

---

In another sorcery school, Sbyam was watching the news on TV with a sly smile spreading across his lips.

“My, my... He destroyed the entire area!” he chuckled lightly, adding, “My disciple truly is a demon.”

At that moment, Moriyo—the leader of Squad A—entered the room.

“Master?”

Sbyam turned off the TV and lazily glanced at Moriyo. “What is it?”

Moriyo gestured toward the screen, still showing the news. “Was this Spailo’s doing?”

Sbyam grinned nonchalantly. “Without a doubt. It’s him.” Then, without another word, he left the room. Moriyo remained, silently watching the broadcast as if something inside him had broken.

---

Elsewhere in the school, Suero encountered other students, including Kamio—a member of Moriyo's squad, ranked Class A—who eyed him with disdain.

“You’re the student from Class E, right?” Kamio sneered.

“Yes, and what of it?” Suero replied coldly, though anger was stirring within him.

Kamio laughed mockingly. “Why would Master Sbyam care about someone like you? He only trains the elite sorcerers in Class A. Do you really think you can match their power?”

Sbyam approached quietly from behind Kamio and stood beside him. “You arrived just in time, Suero,” he said calmly.

Suero turned toward him and asked, “You are Master Sbyam?”

“Yes. Welcome!” Sbyam greeted him with a smile. A moment later, Moriyo joined them silently, as usual.

Suero glanced at Moriyo. “You’re Moriyo Zeus, the leader of Squad A, right?”

“And you… are Spailo’s brother,” Moriyo said coldly, his expression unchanging.

---

Sbyam led Suero to a secluded room filled with old wooden chairs. “Take a seat.”

Suero sat down and watched as Sbyam took a chair across from him, pulling a pen from his coat pocket.

“As you know, sorcerers are ranked from Class A to E. You’re currently in Class E, meaning you’re at the lowest level. But don’t worry—progress comes with training and experience,” Sbyam said with a light chuckle.

Suero frowned, annoyed. Sbyam noticed and dropped his playful tone. “True power comes from discipline and continuous training. You need to learn how to control your breathing, as oxygen is the key to your body’s strength. You’ll face powerful monsters—some of which were once human but were transformed into beasts through grotesque experiments. These monsters multiply by biting humans and turning them into more of their kind.”

Suero nodded. “I know that.”

Sbyam laughed. “Well, it seems you know a bit. But I’m not here to teach you theory. Starting today, you’ll train daily and fight these creatures constantly. If you slack off, I’ll deal with you myself. Once you grow strong enough, I might grant you one of the four abilities I’ve passed down to my disciples. But these abilities can only transfer upon the death of their bearer… and that’s not happening anytime soon.”

Suero asked, “The Time Ability—that’s with Moriyo, right?”

“Yes. It’s the strongest,” Sbyam replied with a mysterious grin as black sparks danced around his hand.

Suero stared at the sparks in awe, wondering: Will I ever reach that level of power?

---

Meanwhile, in Piura, a massive monster was wreaking havoc across the city, destroying everything in its path. Suddenly, a pink spark shot from the sky, piercing the monster’s belly and causing it to stagger in pain.

Baisal—a sorcerer from Squad A—descended from the sky, surrounded by glowing pink sparks. She smiled confidently and delivered a powerful punch, knocking the creature off balance.

“Spatial Technique!” she shouted, propelling herself forward with flames shooting from her feet, setting the monster ablaze.

Panting heavily, Baisal looked at the burning beast and muttered,

“It was only a Class B monster, but it was still tough.”

Her watch buzzed, alerting her to a new mission. She groaned in frustration. “Curse Sbyam… He never lets me rest!”

With sparks surrounding her feet, she launched herself toward her next destination.

---

Back in the secluded room, Sbyam pulled out a strange watch from a wooden box.

“What’s that?” Suero asked curiously.

“It’s the Mahrobot Watch. From today onward, you’ll use it to receive missions and training updates.”

Sbyam tossed the watch to Suero, who caught it and strapped it to his wrist.

Just then, Moriyo entered the room, sipping a cup of coffee.

“Are you two done?” he asked.

“Almost,” Sbyam replied.

Suddenly, Suero’s watch buzzed with a new notification.

“A training alert?” Suero read aloud.

Sbyam grinned. “Yes. A 20-kilometer run. You’ve got two hours to complete it.”

“W-What?!” Suero exclaimed in disbelief.

Moriyo smirked. “Good luck, kid.”

Determined, Suero stood up and said, “I’ll give it my all! I’ll become the strongest sorcerer in the world!”

He stepped out of the school, staring at the long path ahead of him. With a sigh, he glanced at the watc

h again and muttered,

“Twenty kilometers… in two hours? Impossible!”
