Chapter 48: Chapter 48: The Tragedy of Uchiha Yōwan
In the end, Takeshi didn't use it as leverage to threaten Ebisu with anything.
Still, seeing how paranoid Ebisu had become, Takeshi symbolically gave him some time to treat them to a bowl of ramen, which more or less settled him down.
"There are quite a few capable people in Class Three—like Yamashiro Aoba, Morino Ibiki, Ayame Raidō, Gekkō Hayate, Uzuki Yugao. Most of their fathers were chūnin or jōnin, each with their own legacy."
Back with the group, at that moment, Shiranui Genma was introducing Class Three's situation.
"Eh, legacy huh... Compared to our class with Takeshi and Asuma, do they really count?" Anko, having eaten her fill, sat there playing with a bamboo skewer. After Genma finished speaking, she suddenly flicked it with a sharp motion, embedding it deep into the wooden post outside the door.
"Hmph, bullseye. You saw that, right, Takeshi? My skills." No one really knew where exactly this so-called "bullseye" was, but since she was saying it, Takeshi couldn't be bothered to argue. He nodded absentmindedly.
"Hehe, next time I'll teach you how to throw it so it hits the mark." Pleased with Takeshi's approval, Anko happily ran over to his side like always and threw an arm around him.
"Hmph, my strength has nothing to do with my old man's name. Anko, you better remember that!" Asuma was clearly displeased by Anko's earlier comment, his expression sour.
"Yeah yeah, I got it, A-su-ma, Young-Master~" Anko let go of Takeshi, pulled a face, and said it word by word, teasing him.
"You...!" Normally mild-mannered, Asuma's forehead veins were bulging with frustration. But faced with Anko, he couldn't say much. After all, that was just how she was.
"Alright, alright. Here's some dango, don't be mad. Kurenai, say something to your man too."
Acting all apologetic, Anko turned to tease Yūhi Kurenai now.
"Anko, what nonsense are you spouting!" Being a girl, Kurenai had no tolerance for Anko's jokes.
Her face flushed red as she grabbed a bamboo skewer off the table and charged at her.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Seeing Kurenai rush over, Anko quickly begged for forgiveness while hiding behind Takeshi, trying to use him as a human shield.
"Takeshi, move! I need to teach this idiot a lesson today!" Kurenai raised the bamboo skewer at
Takeshi, who had been pushed in front by Anko.
Seeing the sharp bamboo skewer inches from him, Takeshi coughed lightly. Before Anko could react, he used the Body Flicker Technique to flash aside.
"Ahem, Anko, you brought this on yourself. I'm not getting involved."
"You traitor!"
...
"Genjin-san, we'll be counting on you for today's exercise."
With Class Two assembled, Ito Makoto walked up to Genjin, smiling.
"Not at all, this is a group effort." Genjin smiled back and extended his hand.
As both class watched, the two teachers shook hands, then quickly let go.
"Everyone, three-man team battles have always been the standard for the chūnin exams in Konoha. This inter-class exercise is to help you adapt early."
Ito Makoto continued with his final briefing.
"The most important thing in a three-man battle is coordination. Even three genin, if coordinated properly, can delay a much stronger chūnin. Of course, if the opponent is a jōnin, close coordination between three genin can still hold out long enough to wait for reinforcement."
On the other side, Genjin began instructing his own students.
"Alright then, according to the draw, the first group—get ready."
Once they had finished explaining, the two instructors looked at each other and called out the first group with perfect timing.
"Go get them, Anko. Show them what you're made of." Takeshi encouraged Anko as she got up.
"Hmph, of course. It's just Class Three—watch me take them down." Anko raised her chin and, along with her teammates, walked into the center of the training field.
Her teammates were Hyūga Iroha and Nara Tōen.
Their opponents were Uchiha Yōwan, Himari, and Nara Mayumaru.
Having once been brutally beaten by Takeshi, Uchiha Yōwan saw him cheering for Anko and felt a twisted urge rise within.
Hmph, if I can't beat you, I can still beat your friend, right?
Watch how I ruin this pretty girl's face to get revenge for my crushed jewels!
Just remembering what Takeshi had done made Yōwan wince in pain.
The psychological trauma ran deep—he still woke from nightmares because of it.
"Then, both sides, form the sign of confrontation. Begin!"
As Genjin swung his arm down, Yōwan, already eager, dashed forward like an arrow aimed straight at Anko.
"That girl's mine!"
But Hyūga Iroha didn't give him the chance, intercepting him halfway.
"Hmph, I'll be the one to defeat the Uchiha!"
[You son of a #!¥@#%, you 2!¥!#%, you absolute @!¥...%...]
Blocked by Hyūga Iroha, Uchiha Yōwan mentally transformed into a rage-filled telegraph machine, cursing every which way.
"Then, shall we?" Nara Mayumaru asked Nara Tōen tentatively.
"Yeah, whatever, what a drag." Tōen agreed lazily, and just like that, the two Nara clan members began going through the motions without any real effort.
That left Anko to face Himari alone.
"In the end, there's zero coordination among them." Ito Makoto commented, not surprised at all by the disorganized mess.
"Everyone fighting their own battles still counts as a kind of coordination. But yeah, the Nara pair is really pushing it." Genjin agreed.
Though the Sharingan possessed incredible abilities, before it's awakened, the Uchiha were no match in taijutsu compared to the Hyūga, whose Byakugan could be activated through training.
After barely exchanging a few blows, Yōwan began to struggle. He knew if he continued the hand-to-hand fight, he would definitely lose.
I'll finish this with the Great Fireball Technique.
Knowing only that one jutsu, Uchiha Yōwan backed off to gain distance, planning to use Fire Release to win.
He feinted a punch, and as Hyūga Iroha dodged, Yōwan quickly leapt back into the air.
"You're not getting away!"
Prepared for this move, Hyūga Iroha stepped forward and thrust his chakra-imbued right hand forward with force, unleashing a technique he had just recently mastered:
"Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!"
A powerful burst of chakra flew straight toward Yōwan and, to everyone's disbelief, struck him right in the groin—again—his front completely exposed mid-jump.
