Chapter 15: Fragments of Dreams
Continued Research and the Assistant’s Dream
Back in the real world, Satoshi Koizumi resumed his daily life, working on new experiments in the lab alongside his assistant, Sui Takahara. They were immersed in unraveling the mysteries of astrophysics and quantum mechanics, pushing the boundaries of their research.
“Professor, I’ve been having strange dreams lately,” Takahara said, sounding both excited and confused. “In my dream, I was caught in the middle of what felt like a battle of the gods. There were beings controlling flames, ice, and other incredible powers…”
“A battle of gods, huh? Sounds like quite the dream,” Satoshi chuckled. “Tell me more about it.”
Takahara continued, his excitement growing. “Everyone in the dream was fighting together to defeat this enormous enemy. It felt so real, like I was really there, part of it.”
Satoshi’s expression turned serious as he listened. “That’s fascinating. It reminds me of when we visualized Moroboshi’s dream memory using brainwave technology. Maybe we should try the same with your dream.”
Visualizing the Dream Memory
Satoshi and Takahara prepared to use the lab’s advanced system, designed to convert brainwave data into visual images. With the help of a quantum computer, they began analyzing the data to project Takahara’s dream onto the lab’s monitor.
“Are you ready?” Satoshi asked, glancing at Takahara, who nodded nervously.
“Yes, let’s do it.”
As the system came to life, Takahara’s dream started to appear on the monitor. To their amazement, a vivid battle from another world played out before their eyes. The scene showed gods locked in combat with a massive black phoenix, set against a grand, otherworldly landscape.
“This… this looks like an actual battle in some other world,” Satoshi muttered, stunned by the clarity of the scene.
“Could this really have happened…?” Takahara’s voice trembled with the realization that his dream might be more than just imagination.
Discovery of a New Mystery
As the images continued to play, Satoshi dove deeper into the quantum computer’s analysis. “The more we study this, the more it seems like this dream isn’t just a figment of your imagination. There might be some link between this dream and another world.”
The quantum computer detected unusual energy patterns in the data. “This… this can’t be explained by normal dream memory. There’s something bigger, something deeper at play here.”
Takahara, staring at the unfolding images, was equally baffled. “Professor, this battle… I feel like I’ve seen it before, like a strange sense of déjà vu.”
“What do you mean?” Satoshi asked, intrigued.
“It’s as if I’ve had this dream before, or been in this situation before. It’s hard to explain, but it feels familiar,” Takahara explained, grappling with his emotions.
Satoshi continued analyzing the data, growing more certain by the second. “This might be more than just a dream. There could be a real connection to another world here.”
“A connection to another world…?” Takahara repeated, his curiosity deepening.
“If we keep researching this, we may uncover even more hidden truths. Something big might happen during the next full moon,” Satoshi said with renewed determination.
“Then we should be ready. Let’s prepare as much as we can before then,” Takahara agreed.
With their resolve strengthened, the two set out to further their research, preparing for whatever awaited them.
Quantum Computer Hack
That night, the lab’s security system suddenly triggered an alarm. Satoshi and Takahara rushed in, only to find the quantum computer behaving erratically, its systems overloading.
“What’s happening here…?” Satoshi stared at the monitor, bewildered.
“This is… we’re being hacked!” Takahara shouted, scanning the data. “Someone is infiltrating our system from the outside!”
Satoshi tried to respond, but before they could act, the quantum computer entered a critical state, its processors overheating, and soon after, it was completely destroyed.
“Without the quantum computer, we can’t continue the dream research…” Satoshi said, his frustration evident.
Takahara clenched his fists. “This doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Someone is deliberately trying to sabotage our work.”
Renewed Determination
Though their quantum computer was destroyed, halting their research temporarily, Satoshi and Takahara refused to give up. Together, they began planning their next steps.
“We’re not finished. We’ll rebuild the quantum computer from scratch and install an even stronger security system,” Satoshi vowed.
“Right. Overcoming this obstacle will only make our research stronger,” Takahara agreed, nodding resolutely.
As they prepared for the challenges ahead, both of them sensed that a significant change was on the horizon. Something greater was coming, and it was only a matter of time before the pieces fell into place. Their research, though hindered for now, would soon unlock even more profound mysteries about the connection between dreams, other worlds, and reality itself.
