The Seeker Infinity

Memory Reboot

Chapter 21 : Memory Reboot

As the rain poured heavily while running swiftly to look for Joy, Melpomene stops and see his old dojo, he then stood in front of the dojo for shelter because of the heavily rain, his eyes fixated on the wooden sign swinging in the wind. Memories flooded his mind, taking him back to the days of relentless training and countless failures.

Flashback to Timothy Balinski also known as Melpomene, in his younger years, where his burning desire to join the Seekers ignited. With every ounce of determination, he pushed himself through grueling workouts, honing his skills, and seeking guidance from mentors. Yet, each time he faced the examination, defeat stared him in the face.

Years turned into decades, but Timothy's resolve remained unshaken. He poured his heart and soul into his training, sacrificing sleep, relationships, and comfort for the chance to prove himself worthy of the Seekers. He even resorted to paying for additional training, desperate to overcome his shortcomings.

Finally, after 43 years of relentless dedication, Timothy's perseverance paid off. He passed the Seekers' examination, fulfilling his lifelong dream. But as he entered the ranks of the revered organization, doubt gnawed at his mind.

Surrounded by younger, more talented individuals, Timothy couldn't help but question the validity of his achievement. The whispers of self-doubt grew louder with each passing day, eroding his confidence and sense of purpose.

At the age of 65, Timothy found himself adrift in a sea of uncertainty. With his self-esteem shattered, he abandoned the noble ideals of the Seekers and embraced a life of mercenary work, where only the allure of money held any significance.

As he stood in the rain-soaked streets, a bitter realization washed over Timothy Balinsk. His journey had led him not to glory, but to a hollow existence driven by greed and regret. And in that moment, he knew that the path he had chosen was a far cry from the noble aspirations of his youth.

Melpomene's footsteps echoed softly against the rain-soaked pavement as he pursued Joy through the storm. With each stride, the weight of his purpose bore down upon him, until he could bear it no longer. He halted abruptly, his gaze lifting to the heavens where raindrops danced upon the surface of his mask. In that fleeting moment, amidst the deluge, he searched for solace in the tumultuous sky above.

"I'm too old for this" Melpomene mutters

Meanwhile, As the rain poured down, Joy's frown deepened, mirroring the stormy sky above.

Sensing her discomfort, Chris swiftly removed his jacket and offered it to her. "Here, take this. It'll keep you warm," he said softly, his voice a gentle reassurance amidst the downpour.

Joy's eyes softened as she accepted the gesture, a silent gratitude passing between them in the midst of the tempest.

She wrapped the jacket around her, feeling its warmth seep into her chilled bones. "Thank you, Chris," she murmured, a hint of a smile breaking through the clouds of her worry.

Chris felt a warmth rise to his cheeks as Joy's words washed over him. With a nod and a soft smile, he met her gaze, his eyes reflecting the flicker of affection that danced between them.

Amidst their momentary respite, one of Robert's men chanced upon Joy and Chris, swiftly dialing his phone to disclose their whereabouts to their elusive adversary.

Robert was on his phone, he heard the call and picked it up. "Did you find her?" He asked in a serious tone of voice

The man said "Yes sir... We are following her now. She is holding hands with someone, i don't know who it is." Robert looked at his phone in disbelief.

Robert clenches his fist in anger "It must be Chris, where are they now?"

Still observing them, the man replied "They are now walking in the 65th street, they don't know that we are watching them."

A sinister smile twisted Robert's lips as he received the news. "Excellent," he murmured, his voice laced with malice.
