The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 8: Pouring Foam Inn

Kael looked inside a store, searched through the shelves, and rubbed his chin as he tried to decide what to buy.

It was an old-looking store—dirty windows, caused by years of neglect, dilapidated furniture, and dim lighting that made it difficult to see anything clearly.

The dim lighting was most likely caused by the bad light coming from the flickering bulbs overhead, and since it was already deep in the night, it was darker than usual.

"Young man, we're closing up soon!"

The shop owner shouted behind the counter.

Since the counter had so many items stocked up, it was difficult to see the owner from where he was standing—it almost seemed like the box of trinkets was speaking instead of him, who was standing behind the box.

"Alright!"

Kael shouted, picked up a small black bottle with a fire symbol on it and a box of matches, then made his way to the counter and put them down in front of the owner.

"Bottle of Skinshamer's Oil, and a box of matches…"

The shop owner looked at him with a raised eyebrow and had to ask:

"I must ask, what are you planning to do with these items? These two don't go well hand-in-hand, so if you're planning to do some arson, I suggest you think twice before proceeding."

"Haha, nothing like that. I and a few friends of mine are doing a bonfire party, and to give it a proper kick, we're burning some old furniture that's been lying around for ages.

"This oil will just do the trick."

Kael said with an innocent smile.

"Oh? I hope you're not planning to do the bonfire party at the Drinker's Forest, as it is pretty dry over there, and those trees can catch fire very easily."

The shop owner said with concern.

"Oh, nothing like that. A friend of mine has a place where we're doing the bonfire. It's completely safe and harmless—after all, my friends parents will be there as well, and they'll stop us from doing anything idiotic."

Kael said.

"Mm~"

The shop owner checked the price tag on the two items and said.

"And that will be 17 pieces of Irin Coin—Skinshamer's Oil is pretty potent, and we have less powerful ones around the back if you want a cheaper option."

The shop owner said.

"No, this will do perfectly."

Kael said with a smile, paid for the items, and then stuffed the black bottle and box of matches inside his backpack.

After bidding farewell to the shop owner, he left the store and started walking down the Dust Knife Street, without really having a destination in mind.

He planned to find the whereabouts of Kang Huang after finishing purchasing his supplies—he first went to purchase some food for the journey and then bought the oil and box of matches.

'I don't know where to begin. I don't know where the hell he is living, and he might not even be in Rask anymore, but last time, my brother said that all of his party members were living in Rask, as it was easy for them to link up for any possible raids.

'I know that my brother is supposed to live in the Pouring Foam Inn in Rask, so could it be possible for the rest of his party to also live over there?

'I should go check it out.'

Kael thought, made up his mind on the next location, and after asking for directions from the original citizens of the world, he started making his way over to the inn.

The heavy-looking sign of a large pint of ale, with the foam overflowing and dripping down the sides, swung in the breeze.

The singing of the drunken men and the tapping dance of the patrons could be heard through the open windows.

Pushing the door open, Kael entered the inn and caught few eyeballs—a few recognized him and even looked shocked.

"Hey… Isn't that Soul?"

"I thought he died!"

"No, that's not Soul. The hair color are all different. Soul is blond, but this one is dark-haired."

Kael overheard the conversations and wryly smiled—the pains of being a twin—and then he walked to the bar counter.

The bartender looked at him in surprise—the bulging of his eyes made his shock evident—and he even stopped serving drinks.

"Soul…"

He asked.

"No, name's Kael. I am a brother of Soul, which you could've guessed."

Kael said, sat down on the stool, and side-eyed the people close to him—they didn't look too friendly and had some long scars running down their faces.

"Oh… I am sorry about what happened to your brother. A tragedy, truly. We really liked him, and he usually partied with us here—he and his party, of course."

The bartender said with a deep sigh.

It wasn't the first time that people he knew died at the hands of the Rav'akari, and it definitely wouldn't be the last—but it still hurt.

"Fucking Ravagers. I know that Soul went down with his fists swinging, but it's always a tragedy when we lose one of our own.

"With his young age, it's hard to believe he's gone."

Kornelius said, sitting on the stool next to him, and enjoyed the pint of ale that was barely effective in numbing the pain.

Seeing all the scars, the pain was evident in his eyes, and each one of his scars was still hurting—he could remember vividly how he received each single scar of his.

It was all in the hands of Rav'akari.

"Ravagers? Is that what Rav'akari is called here?"

Kael asked.

"It's a human term for them. Rav'akari is a name created by Whitesky people, but it's just right for humans to have one for them as well—and that is Ravagers."

Kornelius said, combed back his short, gray hair that looked slightly chalky, and gazed down at the ale in his wooden tankard.

"Why've you come here, brother of Soul? Soul's room is already empty, and we brought whatever we found in it to the Guild, so if you're looking for his stuff, go there."

The bartender said.

"No, I am not looking for those—Kang Huang, a friend of my brothers, is he still living here? I'd like to talk with him about my brother."

Kael said.

"Sure, he lived here, like the rest of Soul's friends, but he is gone now—I know that he is still at Rask, but I am not quite sure where he is at."

The bartender said.

"Oh…"

Kael said unhappily.

"Why don't you ask Mystic to help you find him?"

Kornelius asked.

"Mystic?"

Kael questioned.

"Mystics have the power of seers that could help you locate him without any trouble. It will definitely cost, but I am sure you can negotiate a fair price.

"It's not like you're hunting this Kang Huang down—as most people use Mystics to find someone to harm."

Kornelius said.

"Where can I find a Mystic?"

Kael asked.

"You don't have to go far—look over to the far corner of the inn, and that guy with a hood, who is trying to act all mysterious and mighty—he is a low-ranking Mystic, but he should be enough."

Kornelius said.

Kael looked over to the corner of the inn—a hooded man was sitting around a table, his head slightly bowed as if in deep contemplation, and had smoke rising from his pipe.

'Mystic…'
