The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 67: Second Level

Kael rubbed his nose while the gazes of the angry mob stabbed at the back of his head like a thousand needles.

"Can't I get a lawyer?"

He asked with a wry smile.

"No."

The prosecutor said coldly with unamusing look even though she knew that comment was made with joking intent.

However, she wasn't in a mood to be laughing.

"Well, yeah, I stole that shit, and I planned to learn more about it until I can use it as a weapon. You're very much right!"

Kael said.

"Miss Judge, see? I sense no remorse from him. The clear disrespect, rejecting the authority, and lack of accountability are all classic signs of a dangerous criminal."

The prosecutor said.

"…What do you think, Miss Executioner?"

Wren asked, side-eyeing the black-haired woman.

"I think he is guilty!"

The executioner cut through the desk with the sharp-bladed axe and cried out, "Off with his head!"

"What does the gallery think?"

Wren asked.

"Off with his head!"

"Guilty!"

The gallery replied in unison.

"You've been officially found guilty, and thus, you've been sentenced to death with the axe. May I have mercy on your soul."

Wren said.

"I refuse."

Kael said.

"…What?"

Wren asked in surprise, and the gallery, the prosecutor, and the executioner looked equally baffled.

If their expressions could speak, they would be saying, 'What the hell is he saying now?' with their eyes.

"I refuse your verdict. I have a right to a fair trial, and I don't think I received one for today, so fuck you and your verdict."

Kael stood up in a hurry, turned around, and walked down the aisle towards the exit while the gallery's eyes followed him.

"You're not escaping from my axe of judgement!"

Miss Executioner jumped over the desk with the axe in hand and hurled it across the air towards Kael.

It was such an accurate throw that it was heading straight towards Kael's neck. It was a throw aimed to cut off his head with a neat slice.

Kael turned around just in time to see the axe heading his way, and he put his left arm in the way of his neck.

The axe sliced off his arm from elbow to hand and happened to miss his neck, but his arm dropped to the ground with a thud.

"Aargh!"

Kael fell to his knees in shock and pain, clutching the bloody stump where his arm used to be with cold sweat running down his forehead.

With trembling lips, he jumped to his feet and ran to the doors, but the gallery of people suddenly got in his way, blocking him.

"You can't go!"

"You were found guilty!"

"Take your punishment like you're supposed to!"

Kael pushed himself through them all—they were ordinarily weak people—and thus, he was able to reach the door.

He opened the doors with a creak and fell through the opening before falling down on his back, gasping for breath as he stared up at the ceiling.

However, when he looked around, he saw that he was still inside the same courtroom but back at the seat of the accused.

This time around, the courtroom was quite empty except the gold-haired judge was still sitting in her seat with a smile on her face.

"Mmh?"

Kael turned to his left arm—it was back whole—and it wasn't even broken anymore.

"You successfully cleared the Pathway Test and the court case with flying colors. Extremely good job~"

Wren said with a smile and clapped her hands together.

"I… did?"

Kael asked while climbing back to his feet and taking his seat at the chair across from Wren.

"You must've noticed it, right? How unfair the court case was."

Wren asked with a smile.

"Yeah… I was never going to win that case. The prosecutor knew everything that transpired as if she were there in person.

"I was guilty; even I knew that, and it didn't matter if I believed that my reasoning was somewhat fair. I didn't work within the laws.

"However, I don't believe that as Outlaw I need to follow the laws. This court case wasn't about justice or fairness.

"At first, I thought this court case was created to stop psychopaths from advancing further in Outlaw Pathway, and it would be a way to weed out the bad ones.

"Since Outlaw Pathway already has such a shitty reputation.

"That's not the case, is it? You don't care if your Blessed Ones are crazy as long as they focus that craziness against Rav'akari.

"That's all that matters in the end, doesn't it? That Rav'akari will die instead of us.

"Thus, I came to the conclusion that this court case was all about pretending. I had to pretend to be Outlaw.

"Ridicule the authority, admit to all the wrongdoings, and reject the judgment of the court.

"Also… I apologize for saying fuck you. I didn't mean it, my lady."

Kael said.

Wren smiled and cupped her hands around her chin while she listened to his explanation as if she were a curious girl.

"You're indeed correct, and don't apologize. I know that you didn't mean it~"

She said, and then she reached her hand under the desk—she brought out a cup—it had rainbow-colored juice inside.

"With this drink, your vessel will strengthen and expand to hold more divinity, and once you've drunk this, you're officially second level in the Outlaw Pathway."

Kael stood up, approached the desk, and took the silver cup from the desk.

"Cheers."

He put the cup to his lips and took a long drink.

He drank it all, and the bitter taste of the alcohol lingered on his tongue—it was as if he drank some vodka and he could feel the burn all the way down his throat.

At that moment, his vessel turned stronger, which in turn strengthened Kael's physique, made him slightly taller, and increased his health and durability.

He felt like he was a completely new person.

However, as soon as he felt good, the bad came immediately after, and his head started to throb with a splitting headache.

"Ah…"

Kael touched his head, shook it, and turned his painful gaze to Wren.

"You're starting to be able to handle the pain. That's good."

Wren said with a smile.

"Pain is becoming a good friend. I received the knowledge of my new class and the abilities I received. Did you choose this name for me?"

Kael asked.

"I did.

"Kael Mizuchi, level 2 of the Outlaw Pathway.

"You're officially Half-Criminal."
