Chapter 44: Cursed Class
The Society of Knowers just watched as Kael put his head in his hands and screamed in pain because of the pain of the knowledge.
'Shit, so painful… It feels like someone stabbed my brain with a knife and was twisting it around mercilessly. And the knife is covered in barbed wire!'
Kael gritted his teeth, put his head down on the table, and suffered through the pain for a few more moments before it finally subsided.
At that moment, he had some strange knowledge attached to his mind, which felt very strange and foreign, as if it didn't quite belong to him.
"What knowledge did you get, my lord?"
Melia asked curiously.
"Ahh…"
Kael sat back up, his eyes round, and he then asked for paper—Melia gave him some—and he quickly started writing down.
Everyone gathered around the table to look at the paper, and then Kael finished writing and gave it to Melia.
Melia looked at the piece of paper with great interest, but then she frowned and asked.
"What is this?"
"A recipe…"
Kael said with a pained look with bloodshot eyes.
"A recipe for smoked emberboar with glazewood drizzle and sunroot mash.
"Ingredients needed: emberboar shoulder, 1 cup of dragon fire peppers charred and diced. 2 teaspoons of crushed brimstone salt, 1 tablespoon of glazewood sap, and 1 drop of rosewater.
"1/2 cup of firewine or dry red wine with a pinch of cinnamon and clove, whichever you prefer.
"Sprigs of scorched thyme. F@i@nd thi^s& c.ha&pter+'s s-our.ce- on MV.-!LEM-P$Y#R.
"And then for sunroot mash, 3 golden sweet potatoes, a quarter cup of heavy cream, 2 tablespoons of charred garlic butter, and a pinch of sky-ash.
"In the paper, I wrote the cooking instructions as well."
Kael rubbed his painful head, and he then stumbled to his feet before moving away from the table.
He then retched violently over the railing, and when he was done, he wiped the mess off his lips and turned to look at the people around the stone.
The Society of Knowers were stunned thoroughly—their eyebrows twitched—and they were feeling quite many emotions at the moment.
"Y-you mean that the memory crystal contained a recipe of the Lord of the Realm Between's favorite dish?"
Morgana asked in disbelief.
They'd been wondering for years what immense knowledge those memory crystals could hold, but to think that one of them was nothing but a recipe!
"It wasn't even his favorite dish. Probably fourth favorite or something…"
Kael massaged his temples.
"H-hey, why don't you check another memory crystal? There must be something immensely important over there!"
Morgana said.
"Enough, Morgana. Our lord needs some rest; as you can see, he is not doing well, as it is very painful to use memory crystals."
Melia said with a smile and then bowed in the direction of Kael.
"My lord, we, the Society of Knowers, gather here every Sunday at nightfall. If you so desire, we'd love you to join us from now on!"
"I… will think about it."
Kael said.
With a smile, Melia bowed and then traced her hand across the mirror etched on the stone table.
"We're running out of time now, but next time around, I can show you the power of the Peeking Mirror.
"It is the reason why we call ourselves the Society of Knowers!"
She said pridefully.
'Peeking Mirror…?'
Kael looked at the mirror with a puzzled look, nodded briefly, and then followed the others back to the graveyard.
One by one, they stepped through the stone-arched gateway and returned wherever they came from.
When Kael stepped through the gateway, he appeared back in his room and immediately plopped down on his bed.
'In a week's time another meeting… Peeking Mirror… I don't know.'
He closed his eyes to sleep, as he has had many sleepless nights lately ever since he arrived in Whitesky.
…
The refreshing wind of the morning gushed through the open windows and refreshed the classroom.
Sitting behind the wooden desks, the students chatted amongst themselves as they were waiting for the teacher to arrive.
Kael sat in the back corner, donning his new clothes, which he went to purchase this morning.
However, since he didn't have any money, he borrowed some from Thomas, planning to pay him back, but it looked like Thomas already had an idea how he could pay him back.
He was going to have a small talk with him, and Arthur after all the classes have been concluded for today.
At that moment, the classroom door opened, and following a scent of sweet perfume, a beautiful teacher walked in.
She was wearing heels, dressed in a rather revealing dress that had a deep neckline, and had a chest so large that it pushed against the fabric of her dress.
It looked like it could burst at any moment, and the male students were struggling to focus on anything else.
The girls, on the other hand, just rolled their eyes at the boys and called them pigs under their breaths.
"Hello, everyone. You all smell rather nice~"
Miss Angelica said with a flirtatious smile, and she then put a heavy-covered book down on her desk.
"It looks like we have a new student. Kael Mizuchi, I take it? Welcome to our class, and that's why we will refresh our memories with the basic knowledge of Cursed Objects."
Miss Angelica said with a smile, and within her cleavage, her cursed necklace was glowing a faint purple.
She turned to the blackboard and wrote five things: Harmless, Unstable, Dangerous, Forbidden, and Cataclysmic.
"These are the Grades of the Cursed Objects. It all starts with Harmless, just like my necklace here, and just like the name suggests, it is harmless.
"However, the Cursed Objects never really are harmless, as they can be extremely dangerous under right circumstances.
"Unstable is Cursed Object that can be either Dangerous or Harmless, depending on who is using the item and how it is being used.
"Dangerous, as it has been known to cause harm and chaos wherever it goes. That graded Cursed Objects are typically sealed away to prevent any accidents or tragedies from occurring.
"Forbidden is like the name suggests, absolutely forbidden to be touched or even looked at by anyone. If anyone finds you in possession of one, you can be hanged for it.
"And then, lastly, but definitely not the least, Cataclysmic, and those Cursed Objects are rare. While other Graded Cursed Objects has a limit to the area of effect, Cataclysmic Cursed Objects have the potential to cause widespread destruction on a massive scale.
"Luckily, they are extremely rare, but once, one Cataclysmic Cursed Object managed to slip through cracks, and that was what caused the destruction of Hermann City."
