Chapter 26: Meeting with the Gods
With hurry in his steps, Kael made his way up the great stairs of the altar and soon reached the top.
Without wasting a single moment, he pushed through the masses of people, entered the altar, and arrived at the grand chamber.
The great statues of the gods stared down at them—at mere mortals—and he sat down on the ground.
"The keepers of the sacred oath, the protectors of the mortals, and the shield against evil, I request an audience with your divine presence."
Kael put his hands into a prayer, let his body take the weightless state, and left his mind open for visitors.
As if he was growing tired, his eyes slowly closed, but he quickly flinched awake and opened his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, he saw that he wasn't in the altar anymore—no, he was sitting on the surface of a perfectly clear sea.
The sky was white like milk and cloudless, stretching infinitely in all directions.
"My name is Kael Mizuchi, and I am here to have an audience with the Ten Gods of the Whitesky…"
Kael slowly stood up, careful not to disturb the tranquil scene around him, and when he was fully standing up, different colored orbs appeared around him.
There were ten orbs—each representing one of the Ten Gods of the Whitesky—and they hovered around him as if they were studying him.
"I am out; he isn't suitable to be Fighter…" The canonical source for this content: M|V|L2EMPYR.
The God of the Fighters, Maragdi's voice, sounded from the red orb—when he finished saying that, the orb vanished.
'Does that mean I was rejected from being a Fighter? I guess He didn't want to give me the divinity of the Fighters. That's fine.'
Kael thought.
"He doesn't have what it takes to be a Magician… I am also out."
A wise, yet gentle voice sounded—it came from the blue orb of the Goddess of Magicians, Kira—and then her orb also disappeared, with her in it.
"I also don't think he is Leader material… Your brother was a natural-born leader, and I am sorry for what happened to him, my son…"
The yellow orb pulsated—it was the orb of the God of Leaders, Suzuki—and then he also disappeared.
"Ah…"
Kael wryly smiled and scratched the back of his head.
It hurt him slightly, but he also knew that he wasn't like his brother.
His brother was always the center of attention back in the school. He knew how to get friends and to get along with everyone.
Whenever he was still in the school, he was also in the leadership role in his class, so it wasn't a surprise that he ended up becoming Leader.
"Hmm~ I like this one. I will have him as one of my Rangers~"
A green orb said—it was the orb of the Goddess of Rangers, Aerial—and her voice sounded eerily familiar to Kael.
'That voice… It is the voice that called me to come here.'
Kael thought with a surprised look.
As if angered with her words, a black orb twitched and pulsated with the menacing energy of the dark powers it held within.
"Hehehe~ I guess I am not the only one interested in him~"
Aerial giggled in amusement.
"As Goddess of Outlaws, I'd also like to have him as my Blessed One."
A voice sounded—it came from the black orb, and it was the orb of the Goddess of Outlaws, Wren—and slowly, she turned into a silhouette of a gorgeous woman.
While she was still faceless, the white dress of hers hugged her curves perfectly, accentuating her beauty even further.
The green orb also turned into a silhouette—the silver hair billowed behind her like a breeze, and she was taller than Wren with a regal air about her.
The green dress of hers, embroidered with natural flowers, flowed gracefully like a dancing waterfall.
'Outlaw or Ranger… This means that I will be at least a Blessed One, but I have a decision to make.'
Kael thought.
He would've been happy with just having one choice, but with multiple choices, it was even better.
"I also want him. He has darkness in his heart. It fits the Stealth pathway perfectly, as it makes his connection with the shadows strong!"
Stealth God, Luzi, said coldly and manifested into a young gentleman with skin like midnight and eyes that seemed to absorb all light.
Yet, in the eyes of Kael, he was faceless, just like the two beautiful goddesses before him.
"I don't sense any wilderness in you. You wouldn't fit the Primal pathway, so I'll take my leave."
The orange orb that belonged to the Primal God, Rawk, disappeared like a wisp of smoke.
"I am also out. I don't think he desires to learn more about the art of alchemy, sadly."
An innocent voice sounded, and the orb that belonged to the Alchemist Goddess, Sera, vanished as well.
'She isn't wrong. I don't think the Alchemy Pathway is for me.'
Kael thought to himself.
"It looks like he has interest and already knowledge about the Mystic Pathway, but I do not see the Seer potential in him. Thus, unfortunately, I will also be taking my leave."
The Mystic God, Marlie, slowly faded into a star mist.
'That's unfortunate. I think the Mystic Pathway is really interesting, and I would've been quite interested in discovering the world that only they see.'
Kael said with a sigh.
Without saying a word, the Summoner God, Razura, turned into a murder of crows and flew away into the far distance.
'I think that was Summoner God. I think that is one of the most powerful Pathways, which I heard from my brother, but the Summoner God, Razura, is also really stingy with granting blessings.'
Kael thought.
"Young one, you have three Pathways to choose from. Think wisely. You cannot go back to who you choose, but remember, none of us will feel bitterness if you desire not to choose one of us."
Stealth God, Luzi said with a wise-sounding tone.
With clenched fists, Wren glared at Aerial, who materialized a hand-held fan and gently fanned herself.
She was smiling cheekily and looked at Wren before blowing her a kiss, which just enraged the Goddess of Outlaws even further.
With a wave of her hand, she created a closed space around the three gods so that the mortal before them wouldn't be able to hear them.
"You called him here? What are you after? Why do you want him?"
Wren asked angrily.
"Hehe, it is simple~ It's because you want him, so now I also want him, hehe~"
Aerial giggled and covered her mouth with the hand-held fan.
"You filthy fucking whore!"
Wren's beautiful face turned red, and she was about to throw a punch, but then Luzi's hand touched her shoulder.
"Do not fight in front of the mortal. Let him choose for himself."
