The Rise of the Fallen Prodigy

Chapter 64: The Grand Auction

In the next two days, apart from his regular cultivation, Liam Smith devoted all his other time to studying the Pharmacist's Essentials given by Aldrich.

He had reached the point of forgetting to eat and sleep.

It had to be said that the Pharmacist's Essentials was indeed a rare treasure. Although it only recorded up to the Third Class Pharmacist level, this book was still very useful for Liam Smith at present. At least, he could avoid taking detours before reaching the Third Class Pharmacist level.

Even Alistair would help Liam Smith study it during his spare time and point out some of the mysteries within it to him.

Liam Smith's understanding of alchemy had increased a lot all of a sudden.

At night, a slightly cold autumn wind blew gently.

However, the change in the weather had no effect on warriors at all.

Silvermoon Valley was still as brightly lit as usual, with busy traffic on the streets and alleys.

In the Breeze Courtyard of the Smith family, Liam Smith woke up from his meditation.

A glint of light shone from his eyes. He glanced at the night outside and murmured to himself, "Master, it's time to collect Soul crystals."

Leaving the Smith family residence, Liam Smith went to an inconspicuous alley and put on that black robe again. He mingled with the crowd and headed towards the auction house.

The auction house was still as lively as ever. The first-floor hall was already packed with people, and there were still many warriors trying to squeeze in from the outside.

The entire auction house was submerged in the hubbub of voices. Although many apprentices of the auction house had been trying their best to maintain order, it was of no avail.

With great difficulty, he squeezed into the back of the hall and stood in front of the small door leading to the auction hall. Two middle-aged men stretched out their hands to stop Liam Smith.

One of them, who was quite strong, glanced at Liam Smith and asked, "Are you alone, sir?"

"Yes," Liam Smith didn't understand why the auction house suddenly asked this question today, but he still answered honestly.

The voice came from Alistair.

"Then may I ask about your cultivation level?"

"Hmm?" Liam Smith showed a bit of displeasure. Alistair's voice sounded, "Do I have to tell you my cultivation level when I come to your auction house?"

"Of course not. Please don't be angry, sir," the strong man explained. "This is the rule of our auction house. Today is a grand auction. For the sake of order, the auction house stipulates that only those with a cultivation level above the Condensate Realm are allowed to enter the auction hall."

Liam Smith was slightly surprised. He didn't expect there to be such a rule for today's auction.

But then he understood. Although the auction hall was not small, its capacity was limited. Today was a rare grand event. If everyone in Silvermoon Valley could enter the auction hall, it would definitely be in chaos.

Moreover, judging from the scale of this auction by the auction house, the items being auctioned must be high-level goods. Those at the Refined Gas Realm would just be taking up space if they went in. They either couldn't use the good items or didn't have the strength to buy them. This kind of regulation was beneficial rather than harmful to the auction house.

This also explained why there were so many people crowded in the hall outside.

But if that was the case, it meant that Liam Smith couldn't enter either.

Just when Liam Smith was anxious, he suddenly had an idea. Then he told Alistair his idea.

After a moment, only to hear Alistair coldly shout, "Do you two have the right to ask about my cultivation level?"

"We don't dare, sir. It's just that the rule is like this. Please don't make things difficult for us," the two guards said nervously.

Alistair gave a cold snort and said in a chilling voice, "Then can I enter with this?"

The two middle-aged men looked up and saw a golden auction card shining brightly in front of them.

The two of them became even more flustered and kept bowing to Liam Smith, saying, "We didn't expect you to be a golden card VIP of the auction house. We were blind and didn't recognize your eminence. Please don't hold it against us."

"Hmph, I don't have the time for that. Can I enter now?"

"Of course. Please go ahead," the two men didn't dare to be negligent and bent over to make a gesture of invitation.

Although they didn't know Liam Smith's cultivation level, in their eyes, that golden card represented everything. There were originally very few golden cards in the whole Silvermoon Valley. Which of the people who could possess one wasn't a famous figure in Silvermoon Valley?

Their cultivation level was naturally far beyond the Condensate Realm, and there was no need for any further inspection. At this moment, the two of them just hoped that the other party wouldn't blame them.

The strong man wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said, "Damn it, this job is really not for humans. If you're not careful, you'll offend those big shots."

"Tell me about it. But what can we do? We can only blame our bad luck," the other middle-aged man sighed.

After entering the back door, Liam Smith also let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he had the golden card given by Ignatius. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have been able to enter today, and there would have been some regret inevitably.

After entering the auction hall, it was not as noisy as outside. There were only low whispers. There was no auctioneer on the auction stage at the moment. Presumably, the auction hadn't started yet. There were only many auction house apprentices standing around.

There were already quite a few people sitting in the seats below the auction stage, but they all seemed to be in groups of three or five. There didn't seem to be any lone rangers, and the atmosphere was faintly a bit strange.

Just when Liam Smith felt strange, suddenly a group of people walked in from behind, about dozens of them. Many of them were holding weapons, as if they were here to cause trouble.

These people were none other than the various elders of his own family.

The leader was the family head, the Second Elder, and his grandfather.

Liam Smith walked towards a corner without being noticed, avoiding the gaze of the Smith family members. With the black robe covering him, naturally no one discovered him.

The appearance of the Smith family immediately attracted everyone's attention, and a trace of fear flashed in everyone's eyes.

Without any hesitation, the group, led by Caspian Smith, directly went up to the second floor. Presumably, they were going to the VIP room.

The two auction house apprentices at the entrance of the second-floor passage obviously recognized Caspian Smith. They didn't show any intention of stopping them and directly let the Smith family members go up to the second floor.

After a few breaths, another group of people swarmed in. Judging from their attire, they should undoubtedly be from the Allen family among the three major families.

The leader was an old man wearing gorgeous clothes. He had his hands behind his back, and his face was full of smiles, but one could still feel a trace of majesty hidden behind that smiling face. This person should undoubtedly be Shi Jingtian, the family head of the Allen family.

The appearance of the Allen family, just like that of the Smith family, attracted the attention of the people around.

Just like the Smith family, the members of the Allen family didn't say anything either and also went towards the second floor.

In the following period of time, the Wilson family and the City Lord's Mansion also arrived one after another. Naturally, the family heads and the city lord were at the forefront.

For a moment, the leaders of the three major families in Silvermoon Valley and the City Lord's Mansion all gathered at the auction. One could imagine how grand this auction was.

Liam Smith scanned the auction house apprentices but didn't find Aisha's trace. He originally wanted to ask her to directly take him to the second floor, but it seemed that he could only solve this problem by himself this time.

He came to the staircase leading to the second floor, showed his golden card to the two guarding apprentices. Without any obstruction, and with the two of them looking respectful, Liam Smith also stepped onto the stairs.

He once again came to the VIP room he had stayed in last time, sat on the chair with his legs crossed, and waited for the auction to start.

After waiting for about half an hour, almost all the people with some influence in Silvermoon Valley had arrived one after another.

A preliminary estimate showed that there were at least several thousand warriors above the Condensate Realm in the whole Silvermoon Valley, including the top powerhouses of various forces in Silvermoon Valley.

Finally, a figure appeared from the backstage below the auction stage. It was Easton White, who had presided over the auction last time. Unlike last time, this time Easton White seemed to be under great pressure, and his face was extremely solemn.

Slowly walking onto the auction stage, Easton White forced a smile and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, first of all, I'd like to welcome all of you here. On behalf of the auction, I'd like to thank you all."

After saying that, Easton White sincerely bowed to the crowd.

After a pause, he raised his voice a bit and said, "All of you here today are the top powerhouses in Silvermoon Valley. I won't say too much about the opening remarks. I just hope that you can abide by the rules of our auction house. Those who fight or cause trouble will be directly expelled and will be added to the blacklist of the auction house, and they will never be allowed to come to the auction house again for life."

Easton White's words were a bit severe, but no one present dared to say no, and no one interrupted. Judging from their attitudes, they basically acquiesced to what Easton White had said.

Although everyone seemed to be law-abiding and approachable, Easton White knew that all the people here were the most difficult-to-deal-with characters in Silvermoon Valley. Although they usually didn't dare to cause trouble in the auction house, today was different from usual, and no one could guarantee that everything would be peaceful.

"I believe you all know that this auction is different from the previous ones. There will be a mysterious treasure up for auction later. Please stay tuned," Easton White said.

"Master Easton, don't keep us in suspense. Just tell us what kind of treasure it is," the voice of an old man sounded.

"Yeah, I specially rushed back from the Cloud-Connecting Mountains. I didn't even have time to change my clothes before coming to the auction house. You'd better tell us first so that we can have an idea," a burly man with a beard and bloodstains all over his body said.

"Right. I'd like to see what kind of precious treasure it is," another old man said.

"..."

Many people below the stage started to make a commotion.

Easton White's face looked a bit embarrassed . He had expected that this auction wouldn't be peaceful, but he didn't expect that everyone would start making a commotion before it even began.

Easton White waved his hand and said, "Please be patient, everyone. To be honest, I don't know what this mysterious treasure is either. The final auction will be presided over by the master of our auction house himself."

"The master presides over it himself? Then it must be a rare treasure. It seems that I came at the right time this time," someone said.

"The master didn't even show up when the Third level elixir was auctioned in the auction house last time. I didn't expect him to take the stage himself this time. Could this mysterious treasure really be invaluable?" another person said.

"Even if it is invaluable, so what? With our small fortune, we can't compare with the three major families and the City Lord's Mansion. No matter how good the thing is, it has nothing to do with us," someone else said.

"Right. I didn't come here this time hoping to get that final treasure. As long as I can buy one or two satisfactory things, I'll be content," an old man said.

"..."

While everyone was talking, four more people walked onto the auction stage from the backstage. Two of them stood firmly behind Easton White. They both looked like old men in their sixties, but one could clearly feel the powerful aura emanating from them. They were undoubtedly powerful.

Seeing this scene, Liam Smith also became interested. Although Aldrich had said that this auction would be very lively, he didn't expect it to be so grand. Almost all the top forces in Silvermoon Valley had gathered here.

This made Liam Smith look forward to this auction even more.
