The Rise of the Black Plain

Chapter 120: Troy's fight

The eighth and final day of tests had finally begun and young Mona had already secured her position in the final phase of the Spiritual Tournament.

Just like any competitor at level 41, she also had to face the same difficulty of her opponents ganging up against her, but she still managed to endure!

It was not easy, but these youths who were already at the 5th stage of their cultivation were all the greatest geniuses in this region of the continent. And along with that, they also had the best techniques, which gave them a challenging advantage to overcome against.

Anyway, the first fight was over by the time Minos finally left the hotel where he and Ruth had been staying and headed towards the fighting arena, not far away.

The battles were taking place in the most prominent public arena in the city, where a new battle in the form of a Battle Royale began every two hours.

And because of this, Minos didn't want to attend the first fight of the day, leaving to go to the place only when it was time for Troy's battle. And even if the arena was packed, it would be effortless for them to get a good seat, thanks to Ruth's flaming medallion.

...

Time passed, and Minos and Ruth had already accommodated themselves in a VIP room in the arena, a courtesy of his young companion's medallion.

The room was massive, with luxurious decorations that would make anyone forget that they were in a fighting arena.

There was a brown carpet covering the floor, while the walls were painted beige, featuring some small relics that looked like weapons such as swords, daggers, war hammers, etc.

Some paintings on the walls showcased the Cromwell Kingdom landscapes and some critical moments in this arena, such as one of the paintings showing a man's head being crushed by a big hammer.

Anyway, there was some decorative furniture in the room, along with food, and drinks. However, Minos and Ruth were not interested in the comfort that this VIP room offered them, but rather in the battle that was about to occur.

The two had already taken their seats in the armchairs placed on the balcony of this VIP room, overlooking the surroundings of the arena.

The arena was pretty extensive, with enough space to accommodate over 50 thousand spectators to watch the battles comfortably.

At that moment, on the fighting stage, a group of 125 competitors finally started to climb, causing the crowd of the audience to erupt in excitement!

The noise was truly intense since this must have been the most anticipated fight for many people.

"Haha, I want to see how quickly young Troy will deal with this," someone blurted excitedly.

"I hope it doesn't end too fast. We have been waiting so long for this. I want to see some action!!"

Upon hearing this, a white-haired old man spoke aloud amidst the crowd. "The boy, Troy, is powerful. This fight won't be very thrilling. We can only wait for Minos to fight."

"Indeed..."

...

While the crowd discussed the impending fight, the participants finally took the stage as the judge in charge of the battle gave the signal to begin.

"This game is on!"

Upon hearing this, almost all the 124 contestants turned their attention to Troy and started running towards him.

That was their only hope. Either they eliminated Troy first, if not then it wouldn't make sense to fight each other!

"Attack him with all your might!" One of the most active young men shouted as he activated his attack technique.

Hammer of Chaos!

Fireball!

Poisonous Thorns!

...

Numerous attack techniques were unleashed at once, covering all of Troy's escape routes. The competitors had surrounded him since the very beginning. After all, these young people had already agreed on doing this, even before the fight started!

Seeing the onslaught of attacks coming towards him, Troy smiled while whispering to himself in a low voice, "The numbers are useless. Only those who have true strength can prevail!"

After muttering that, he activated his movement technique, trying to evade most of the attacks.

Even though he was powerful, there was no way for him to defend against the attacks of over 100 people!

Day Walk!

Troy's figure disappeared from the scene before finally reappearing close to one of the strongest youths in the opposing group as if it were a mirage or something.

Take Down the Sky!

Rumble!

Troy then punched the air, creating a powerful current of wind and energy directed towards the young man nearest to him. It was as if the very air in the arena was collapsing in the direction of Troy's punch!

'Ah! Shit...'

The young man didn't even have the time to defend himself, although he knew what was going to happen, there was no time for him to even react!

Pow!

That young man was hit and sent flying backwards, already unconscious!

It seemed as if he had been knocked out as soon as the wave of energy struck him!

Witnessing this, all the other competitors felt goosebumps all over their bodies. This could very well be the fate of all of them. After all, if they couldn't even hit the young Troy, there was only one outcome waiting for them, DEFEAT.

The fight continued, while the audience praised Troy's great power, along with the tremendous difference that existed between a competitor with Silver talent, like him, and those with Black talent, like his opponents.

Meanwhile, among the many spectators in the arena watching this fight, one was an expert sent from the Flaming Empire.

The expert was the woman who had been sent by the Gray Clouds Sect, Sally Davison. She was at level 53 and had a Silver talent, just like Ruth and Minos' mother.

She had come to the arena mainly to see Minos' performance during his upcoming battle. However, right now, she was pleasantly surprised to see Troy's performance.

'Oh! This kid is terrific! Maybe his movement technique is Silver-grade?' she wondered while observing the ongoing fight.

It was not uncommon for some of the strongest and wealthiest families in the north of the Central Continent to possess one of such techniques, as was the case with the Nash family on Stone Island.

And since Troy's speed was surprisingly fast, Sally considered the possibility that he had a Silver-grade movement technique.

Pow!

After a while, the 80th contestant was thrown from the center of the arena.

Troy had already eliminated more than half of his opponents and was nearing the end of the battle. This was a brutal disparity between him and his low level opponents, who had similar or even worse techniques, and had no experience in fighting together.

Anyway, after putting all these factors together, there was no way they could beat someone as strong as Troy!

...

Time passed, and Troy continued to use his movement technique to gradually destabilize his opponents while eliminating them one by one!

Pow!

If someone observed closely, they would notice that young Troy was sweating profusely and had expended much of his spiritual energy. However, the outcome of this battle was practically decided when only one competitor finally remained on the stage.

"I surrender!"

The young man shouted aloud. There was no need for him to receive Troy's attack. At least he could walk off the stage!

Upon hearing this, the fight referee stepped to the center of the stage and declared the end of the battle.

"The fight is over. Contestant Troy Newman is the winner of group 30!"

After the announcement, a huge commotion erupted in the arena as people started to comment on what had happened.

"Haha, it didn't even last 4 minutes! Very good, I won the bet. You better prepare my crystals!" exclaimed a man with a wide grin.

"It was quite impressive. I never expected that Troy was not going to receive a single attack!" Another voice chimed as many people smiled, proud that they had come to witness this young man's fight.

Perhaps, in the future, they would be able to say that they saw an expert in making at the beginning of his journey in the world of cultivation!

...

Meanwhile, in the VIP room, Minos and Ruth were sitting comfortably in their armchairs while the brown-haired youth carefully analyzed the fight.

'This guy is speedy! I wonder if my sword technique can hinder his speed; otherwise...' He paused and then closed his eyes while letting out a sigh. 'Well, the result doesn't matter. If I can beat him, I will do it one way or the other!'

Ruth then turned her head to Minos and asked while observing him, "Do you want to do something before your match? We still have at least 4 hours until then..."

"Hmm. I won't train any more at this time. I think it's better to go out and do something."

With that decided, the two left the VIP room while looking for doing something else to pass the time until it was time for Minos' battle.

They had no interest in watching the fight that would occur before that of Minos since it didn't have much significance for them. Unlike the audience in this arena, who watched the battles as a hobby, Ruth and Minos didn't share the same view...
