Chapter 467: The Hardest Game of Choices
[HAWI]
The temple was plain and even simpler than Hawi had ever imagined. For a place she had been forced to read about more times than one, it was quite disappointing to be the end release that all of this was what people had been fighting for for years.
It was almost like they were thrust into a world that didn't know the first thing about love and life. This right here was insanity at best and it didn't make any sense to her, even if there was a chance that reality was something they could take a chance on.
The temple looked like a big hall, with one revered table at the center of it all. Everything was covered in gold and many things in here were simple, perhaps the reminder that at the end of the day, life would always remain a simpler one for everyone.
It wasn't hard to understand, but there had to be better things to fight for than gold, right?
"This is what they had been striving for? Goddamn. I'd rather fight over a lamb skewer than this," Hawi stated casually as she took in the sight before her.
None of this was making any sense to her, but maybe she didn't make any sense of it just yet, right? Maybe she just had to wait and see what this holy place would amount to, now that everything was coming apart bit by bit.
"Well, we're just at the entrance. Perhaps your mind will change once you figure out why it is that important to many people," Malika said casually as they went deeper into the temple the more they walked, the deeper they got into the temple and the stuffier the air got.
It was uncomfortable as shit and it was something that almost got them crying over nothing.
The shit in the area was uncalled for and Hawi was staring at her protector a few times once in a while, disapproval written all over her face as if to tell her that there was never going to be a thing that would make her like this stuffy palace.
"Are we at the best part of this mess, yet?" Hawi asked thirty minutes into their adventure into the temple and Malika just laughed at her softly.
She had expected this, but surely Hawi hadn't expected that their roads would be filled with hugs and kisses once they made it to this point, right?
The fact that their bodies were still covered in blood rain wasn't even helping me because if they had been planning not to leave any trails. Then they were failing spectacularly at it.
"If it helps, the entire temple is thousands of years old," Malika said and Hawi snickered.
"Is that supposed to make me love the dust that is hitting my nose each time? And why can't you use your magic to purify air or something? You're powerful, aren't you?" Hawi teased and Malika snickered too.
They were at this for a while and the fact that they had been together for a few years now made it difficult to understand each other's languages in ways that no one would've been able to let them into.
Or maybe, just this once they would have to try a little too hard and figure out the messes in the process right?
"Are you hungry?" Malika asked as if that was supposed to make the air they were having breathable. There was a lot they still needed to figure out in this temple and the deeper they went, the more it was getting confusing for the both of them.
Hell, even Malika who had been to this place more than once was having a hard time with the navigation. Perhaps it was because they weren't sure what they were actually doing and had come to have some fun in the name of exploration.
But then what kind of fun would ever involve the insane exploring another level of insanity like they weren't already insane enough for society? Well, they had to be patient and wait it out, didn't they?
"I think we should go deeper and explore. Unless you already know what is going on in this old ass temple," Hawi said and Malika stared at her like she hadn't expected that to be coming from Hawi's mouth. Well, that was in fact something he hadn't expected.
She had been hoping that Hawi would tell her that they needed to go back and get out of this dust-infested temple. She hadn't just realized that to Hawi, every hard level was just a motivator for the chaos that she wanted to understand even more.
Then again there was no understanding or telling whatever the fuck ever went on in Hawi's mind. The woman was unpredictable as hell and there wasn't a thing they could ever do about that anyway.
Perhaps in the future; but at the moment, there is nothing they could bank on either way.
"Fine," Malika sighed as they pushed on into the temple, ignorant of the madness that had started oozing on the outside of this damned temple. Or maybe it was because that wasn't something they needed to worry about at the moment, right? Or did they?
*****
Outside the temple, the protectors were fighting with the Russel warriors and the Russels had the right to distract them. It was a hard fight, fine they were both creatures of magic, and they were almost equal in number.
The island was flaming up despite the fact that they had all been considered in blood thanks to the blood rain, it wasn't what any of them had anticipated, but as always, when it came to Awuor Hawi, there wasn't a thing that they could say about it.
Because even if they tried to make it make sense, nothing ever would.
"Leader Malika said to go back to Olyana once we are done with these misfits," one of the protectors reminded the rest of the team, and they agreed as they wanted to get the stench of blood off of them.
There was a lot that they had been hoping for since they came to the sacred island, but then it is safe to say they had only experienced a small segment of it. Maybe once the war was won, they would be able to come home and make things right, yeah?
Maybe they would be able to figure out the basics of what the sacred temple ever was and they would lead better lives, yeah well, that was something that they had to wait out, because, at the end of the day, there wasn't much to be desired within the ruins of war.
"Cheers!!" the protector said as they lunged one last time at the Russel warriors. The protectors had urged their energies from deep within their cores and they knew that it would cause a deadly blast.
That in itself didn't seem like a problem because, at the end of the day, the instructions demanded that they work things out and make sure to defeat the Russel warriors.
And so, they channeled all that and directed it towards the Russels warriors who had been so proud of their fight you would think there was some sort of grand reward in the afterlife for them.
It was a pity really, how they were serving the dangers of the lemma. But then again, to each their own master, right? Besides, at the end of the day, they all were fighting for what they believed was right for the realm and the people they lived with there, yeah?
Well, maybe they would consider changing their loyalties later on, but until then they would fight for the people they believed in regardless of how chaotic that would become for them.
It was an honor for the protesters to serve the white wolf, and in that same manner, it was an honor for the protectors to be fighting for Awuor Hawi. It was always that simple either way anyway.
"For Olyana!!" the protectors shouted as they watched the Russel warrior burn to ashes because of the extreme energies.
They had been bested by the protectors of the realm and there couldn't have been a prouder moment for the protectors than this they had lived their entire lives being told of the Russels and the chaos that family brought to the realm.
And the fact that they were finally taking part in the war that had never once been seen, was something that made most of them so excited to even be here. The protectors hadn't lost a soul, but the Russell warriors had lost everyone.
Pleased with what they had done, the protectors created portals and went through them, back to Olyana. It was their time to get some rest, given they had been fighting for the last few days.
They had long lost count of time and right now they could take on just whatever came in their way anyway.
This was what life had become for them and if ever there came a choice to go to battle for Awuor Hawi, the white wolf again, they would do it without thinking too much about it.
*****
At the center of the sacred island, right where the temple stood, were the Russel siblings who had felt their links with the warriors they had dispersed be cut. Especially those who are out there with them.
It wasn't something that they had expected but they had to admit that Hawi made the warriors feel like there were wars worth fighting.
Stay updated with empire
They had never seen such an influential leader in the realm, and one who managed to unite almost all the factions; Which was unheard of, until Hawi and they had to give her her flowers.
"Now what?" Amina asked once they were out of the cage and she held the Sifir in her hand.
"We make the toughest choice," Sebastian said, his tone cold as he looked at his siblings who could tell that something was wrong here.
