The Reincarnated Mixture Magic Types Dragon Prince

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Mark of the Firstborn

Beneath the golden moonlight of the Dragon Kingdom, two figures rode silently on dragons made of starlight—Kai Dragon, ruler of the realms and Demigod of the prophecy, and Zerith Nocturne, the shadowbound Demigod of old.

Their destination lay not in the sky nor on land, but between both—a place sacred to all divine beings:

The Holy Church of Lilith, Goddess of Life.

---

Arrival at the Divine Gates

The Church towered like a monument carved from heaven itself—spires of ivory gold reaching into clouds, rivers of light flowing in midair around its walls, and songs of angelic choirs echoing through every step of stone. Mortals could not survive here long, yet Kai and Zerith passed without resistance.

Priests of Lilith—clad in radiant robes—knelt as they approached. The high priest, an elf with silver eyes and vines woven into his robes, stood to greet them.

"King Kai. Lord Zerith. The Goddess has awaited your arrival."

Kai nodded. "She already knows."

Zerith's jaw tightened, his fingers brushing the glowing symbol on his forearm. It pulsed again, faintly—like it was reacting to the Church itself.

"Take us to her," Kai said.

Without a word, the high priest drew a key made of shimmering bone and turned it into the great altar stone. A beam of golden light descended from the sky, enveloping them both.

---

Realm of the Goddess

The light faded. The world shifted.

Kai and Zerith stood in a land beyond understanding—Lilith's Realm. It was neither day nor night here. The sky shimmered with colors that didn't exist, and the ground sang with every step.

A massive tree with silver roots stood in the center, its branches holding stars and moons like fruit. At its base, seated on a throne made from pure life essence, was Lilith, Goddess of Life.

She wore robes of emerald and sunlight, her hair flowing like rivers, her eyes seeing into every corner of existence. Her voice was like a lullaby and a thunderstorm combined.

"Welcome, Kai Dragon," she said warmly. "And welcome back, Zerith Nocturne. You've come seeking truth."

Zerith bowed low. "I have… questions, my Goddess. There is a mark on my body—one that was not there before I awoke. It hums with something ancient."

He pulled back his sleeve. The mark glowed faintly—a circle of chains around a black flame, with symbols older than any known language curling along its edges.

Lilith stood, and for the first time in centuries, her expression darkened.

"That is not a mark," she whispered. "It is a brand."

Kai's eyes narrowed. "A brand from who?"

---

The Forgotten Firstborn

Lilith raised her hands, and the space around them changed again. They now stood before a great mirror of time, showing visions of the past—so old even Kai's divine memory could not recall them.

"There was a time before mortals. Before Demigods. Before even me," Lilith said. "The multiverse was ruled by a force simply called… The Firstborn Flame."

In the mirror, they saw it—a massive, sentient fire that devoured entire realms not out of hate, but hunger. Planets turned to ash. Stars imploded into darkness.

"It was the first creation… and the first mistake."

Lilith's voice trembled.

"The Primordial Ones sealed it in the heart of nothingness. And when I was created, my purpose was not only to give life… but to keep that flame asleep."

Kai stepped forward. "Then why does Zerith carry its mark?"

Zerith's voice dropped. "Because it spoke to me… in the void. It offered me strength. It called itself my ancestor."

Lilith's eyes widened.

"You didn't just vanish," she said slowly. "You were touched. A sliver of the Firstborn Flame now rests inside you."

---

The Bargain Revealed

Zerith fell to his knees, gripping his head. "It burns inside me—every time I sleep, I see it. It speaks in riddles and screams."

Lilith's gaze softened with sorrow. "You are not corrupted, Zerith… but you are now connected. A vessel the Flame marked as a possible heir."

Kai's hand clenched into a fist. "If that thing awakens—"

"It will not be a war," Lilith said grimly. "It will be the end. Even Divine Magic cannot contain it forever."

Silence fell.

Then Lilith spoke again.

"There is one hope."

Zerith looked up. "Tell me."

"You must journey to the Origin Core—a dimension locked beneath the fabric of this multiverse. There, you will find the true heart of the Flame. If you can confront it... reject it... sever the bond... you may yet be free."

Kai stepped forward. "He won't go alone."

Lilith nodded. "You may go with him, Kai. But the path there is dangerous. It cannot be accessed by teleportation. You must pass through The Five Rifts of Reality, and face what lies within each one."

She handed them a glowing key of starlight and bone.

"This will open the first gate. But be warned… the Flame remembers. And it knows your names now."

---

Before the Departure

Later, as they stood on a floating platform of crystal preparing to return to the mortal world, Zerith finally spoke.

"I didn't choose this," he whispered.

"I know," Kai replied. "But you're not the only one the Flame marked."

Zerith turned. "What?"

Kai stared out into the star-river flowing across the goddess's realm.

"…One of my grandchildren was born during a firestorm. A strange birth. Iris."

Zerith's eyes narrowed. "You think she's—"

"I don't know," Kai interrupted. "But I'll find out. For now, we go to the Origin Core. Together."

The two turned toward the beam of light descending once more.

Their journey had changed.

It was no longer about prophecy or power.

It was about sealing the first mistake—before it consumed the last hope.
