The Regression Of Jiraiya

Two years had passed since Jiraiya and his mother had relocated to Konoha. 

During this time, Jiraiya had become deeply immersed in the life and culture of the Senju clan and Uchiha clan, spending countless hours training, learning and researching medical ninjutsu.

Despite his father's heritage, Jiraiya had never once visited the Hatake clan. However, he learned how to use a sword from Madara.

The guy knew how to use every weapon in the world.

His mother, too, seemed reluctant to return to the place of her husband's birth. 

Jiraiya sensed a deep-seated bitterness within her whenever the subject of the Hatake clan was brought up. 

He knew that his father's relationship with his clan had been strained, ultimately leading to their flight to Uzushio. 

The reasons for this rift remained in mystery, but Jiraiya could care less about them when he had more important matters to do.

Jiraiya and Tsunade, now both twelve years old, were on the cusp of a new chapter in their lives. 

Enrollment at the Shinobi Academy.

Amidst the excitement, there was another reason for celebration in Tsunade's life. 

Her parents, who had been absent on a long mission, had finally returned. 

Their homecoming was made even more joyous by the addition of a new member to the family. 

Tsunade's little brother, Senju Nawaki. 

The house was filled with warmth and laughter as they adjusted to life as a complete family once more. 

Tsunade, in particular, was overjoyed to have her parents back and to have a sibling to share her life with.

The arrival of Nawaki brought a new dynamic to the household. Tsunade, no longer an only child, found herself taking on the role of a protective older sister. 

She was eager to share her knowledge and experiences with Nawaki, and to guide him as he grew up. 

"Isn't he cute, Jiraiya. I finally am Onee-chan!"

"Yeah, he is indeed very cute and I am going to be Onii-chan as well!"

Senju Araki and Senju Nao's faces softened as they gazed upon their daughter, their eyes twinkling with warmth and affection. 

Despite the lengthy and demanding missions that had kept them away from home for extended periods, they had always maintained close communication through secret letters with the clan. 

The news of Tsunade's blossoming friendship with Uzumaki Jiraiya, came as a delightful surprise.

A playful glint danced in Senju Araki's eyes as he nudged his wife, a knowing smile curving his lips. 

"So, it seems we have a potential son-in-law in the making."

Senju Nao chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with mirth. 

"Indeed," 

She replied, her gaze resting fondly on their daughter, whose radiant expression spoke volumes. 

Mito also wished to discuss this budding possibility. 

The early engagements were commonplace among the great clans.

While the prospect of engagement at such a young age might seem daunting to some, Mito couldn't let this chance to have someone like Jiraiya be their in law.

"I don't want to! I absolutely refuse to be engaged to Jiraiya!"

The blunt refusal, delivered with such force, hung heavy in the air, leaving Araki and Nao utterly dumbfounded. 

They hadn't expected Tsunade's vehement rejection, especially not expressed so directly to Jiraiya's face.

Araki, feeling a pang of sympathy for Jiraiya, couldn't help but interject.

"Tsunade, how can you be so rude to him?" 

He cast a worried glance towards Jiraiya, expecting to see hurt or anger reflected in his expression.

However, Jiraiya's reaction was entirely unexpected. 

With a nonchalant shrug, he simply picked his nose, as if Tsunade's harsh words were nothing.

"Huh, so you don't like my daughter, then?"

Tsunade's face flushed crimson, a mixture of anger and embarrassment. 

"What?! You don't like me, Jiraiya?" 

Jiraiya's eyes brows twitch. However, he knew how to appease her.

"I like you."

"That's good, humph."

Araki and Nao exchanged bewildered glances. Was this some strange new form of courtship? 

The entire exchange left them feeling utterly perplexed. 

Perhaps they were simply too young to comprehend the complexities of love and relationships.

"I don't understand."

"Me, too"

Tsunade did not want to listen to them anymore so she dragged Jiraiya with her. Jiraiya was used to it and let himself be dragged by her.

"We are going out to play with our friends! I am not running away or anything!"

Jiraiya smirked and said.

"Yes, she absolutely did not run away because it was too much for her little brain to handle. We will come back before lunch to play with Nawaki-kun…"

"Hush you, Jiraiya you bastard."

Araki and Nao looked at Mito who smiled at them. It was a normal occurrence for her.

"Let them be for now. They still have all the time in the world."

They nodded in agreement and decided to let them be.

Mito then turned serious. She was the one who sent them out on the long mission.

It was a very important mission that she could only send out the most trusted people she had.

Even though she felt sorry for Tsunade, it had to be done.

"Report about the mission."

It was time for them to report to her about their mission.

"We located the site, There was an ancient seal, far older than any we'd encountered before. Our initial analysis suggested it was tied to the manipulation of time and space."

Araki explained.

"We attempted to decipher the seal's inscriptions, But as we progressed, the seal... it reacted. It began to emit an energy we couldn't identify, and before we could react, it..." 

"It destroyed itself. The energy release was catastrophic. There was nothing we could do to stop it."

"We are deeply sorry," 

"We know the importance of this mission, and we failed."

Mito shook her head. What is done is done. There was no need to be sorry for spilled milk.

If Jiraiya were to hear what they were discussing. He would immediately know that it must be his doing.

He played around those kinds of seals before and it connected to the past and caused a huge mess.

That wasn't the only site he played around since the time he traveled around the elemental nation to establish his spy network.
