The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 171: Intertwined Paths

At Dragon Nest Camp, Drow Hiatt was directing a group of sailors, loading goods from the Old Continent traded from the surrounding Barbarian strongholds, as well as their camp's sun-dried Dragon manure, onto carts. After a hearty meal arranged by Nifadora to mark the end of their extended break, they were ready to continue their grand maritime voyage.

As the captain, Hiatt's experiences along the way were not only an indispensable, unfeeling intelligence source for David but also made her the most popular figure among the Dragons at the camp.

Even though Hiatt had little patience for anyone other than David and Nifadora, her brother Kraidian was so beloved at the camp that, by association, she seemed less fearsome. Thus, whenever Hiatt settled down in the camp, she would instantly receive treatment akin to that of a Bard. She would be immediately surrounded by a circle of Dragons and Draconic creatures, all bringing their own Dragon Food.

"Hiatt! Come with me to Granyel." However, before Drow could even take her seat this time, she was swiftly snatched away by the Red Dragon Lord David, who had flown in hastily. This left Lizrite and the other Dragons gaping in astonishment.

Why such a rush? What's going on?

"David Uthos! I haven't boarded the ship yet!" Lizrite, not wanting to be left out, immediately jumped up, but before she could get far, David was already out of sight.

Feeling somewhat dejected upon returning to the camp, she realized it wasn't just her!

An entire ship's crew had been left behind!

How is the ship supposed to sail now?

Above the boundless azure sea, Hiatt, dragged by David in a swift flight over the icy ocean, soon had her face completely frozen stiff. Nevertheless, she lifted her hand to tidy her wildly windblown hair, maintaining the last remnants of her dignity as a Dragon's kin.

Seeing Lizrite left behind, Hiatt was just about to ask questions when she heard David say,

"Have Yevgeny go find my father, Attilicia."

Since he couldn't count on his mother, he'd have to see if his old man could be more reliable.

"...Alright, Dragon Lord, she's already on her way."

Drow, who had been acting as the 'transportation team leader' for nearly a decade, had thought she was finally going to be entrusted with a significant task, only to find out... Her Dragon Lord only valued her for her role as a 'loudspeaker.'

Owing to the soul entanglement with the High Elf Yevgeny, the two Elves could at least function as satellite phones.

However, David hadn't visited other planes yet, so he didn't know if the two Elves could genuinely function as 'quantum communicators.'

Yevgeny, whom David had left on the New Continent for years, was heavily relied upon by the Duke of Silver. If she were to travel from Saeolus City to Dewensen, it would take at least half a day. Therefore, David had Yevgeny use a Magic Messaging Scroll to enable his father, Attilicia, to Teleport directly from Dewensen to the Silver Dragon magic tower in Saeolus City.

Thus, after roughly twenty minutes, a connection was finally established with the New Continent. Drow, with a stony face, relayed the greetings from the old Dragon Lord to the young one:

"David Uthos? I thought you had slept yourself into oblivion! Seven years, more than seven years! Do you have any idea how much Tania, that reckless child..."

"If the War God has his sights on me, what measures might he take?" David, having no time for family banter, interrupted bluntly.

Suddenly faced with such a question, both Elves, including the 'loudspeaker,' as well as Attilicia on the other end, were momentarily speechless. After a pause, Attilicia finally spoke gravely and with difficulty,

"When did this happen?

"How did you come to realize this possibility?

"I need to know the details."

David promptly recounted his outrageous dream to his father in great detail.

Attilicia on the other end also found the story incredulous. After a long silence, he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and said,

"Things probably haven't reached the worst point yet, as it's been two weeks. If the War God had discovered and identified you immediately, he could most likely have accomplished his divine incarnation using the Old Continent's Barbarians. In the Material Plane, there's virtually no being capable of defeating an incarnation of a god."

That powerful? David was taken aback.

"Below the gods, all is dust; this isn't just an idle saying.

"Apart from that special period of Saint Toriel's Calamity, there has been more than one instance of mortals challenging the gods, all of which have proven this point.

"The most witnessed and widely circulated of these was the battle involving Samast of the Dragon Worship Cult.

"He was a former Chosen of the Magic Goddess and had surpassed Legendary status many years prior.

"Hundreds of the God of Dawn's Priests attempted to stop Samast, who had left the Dragon Worship Cult to venture out alone. However, he single-handedly routed them, forcing them into such a desperate situation that they had no choice but to pray to the God of Dawn. And the God of Dawn responded, but what was the outcome?

"Samast's full-power attack barely broke the skin of the God of Dawn's temporary incarnation, drawing just a drop of blood, while he himself was obliterated by a single strike from the god's incarnation.

"And that was the greatest achievement mortals have attained across the Multiverse."

What Attilicia did not mention was that a god, even an incarnation, being wounded by a mortal's attack was considered a disgrace by the other gods. They continued to mock the God of Dawn for it to this day.

...This could be troublesome then. Doesn't that mean if I'm truly discovered, it's a checkmate situation?
