The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 166: Crimson Dream (Part 3)

"Sister! Sister, don't leave me behind, a lone dragon! Shadila is scared!"

After all, she was just a dragon child who had once been spoiled but had no choice but to awaken from a beautiful dream.

「A week later」, after spending nearly five months, David's journey around the Northland of the Old Continent finally drew to a fairly satisfactory conclusion. If it hadn't been for Serubelia's undecipherable invitation from another plane interrupting his thoughts, that would have been even better.

There was also a minor episode during their return trip when they stumbled upon a newly constructed White Dragon Nest.

As a result, when David led a teeming, dark mass of hatchlings across the territory, intending to make a casual visit, the mother dragon, sensing something amiss, cried out, "This is too much! You're bullying dragons!" She only had time to grab her treasures, leaving behind a brood of confused White Dragon hatchlings before she fled.

David didn't stand on ceremony with this mother dragon. He branded the one True Dragon and two lesser white dragon hatchlings with his private Arcane Mark of David Uthos and then returned to his Dragon Nest camp at the foot of Mount Katjana with twenty-one multi-colored hatchlings in tow.

「That day」, the Drow mage, who had recently returned empty-handed again with Mofei and his army of dragon beasts, was following the mixing ratios Nifadora had taught her. She worked with Mofei, his three brothers, Kraidian, and a few others. Together, they started over thirty large cauldrons to mass-produce a new batch of Dragon Food.

Before David and the others had departed, they had nearly emptied the granary for their plan to gather nearby life sources. They urgently needed to produce a new batch before the Dragon Lord returned. Therefore, they had spent the previous months busy hunting.

The dragon beasts, meanwhile, waited eagerly on the periphery like a pack of huskies, because at times like this, some scraps would always be thrown out.

Although these scraps were less nutritious than the specially formulated Dragon Food, even a dog would want a change of taste after eating too much of the same nutritious things, let alone dragons.

Yet, just as this batch of Dragon Food was ready, all the dragon beasts and even the livestock around the camp, already accustomed to Dragon Might, prostrated themselves on the ground. They trembled as they looked toward the horizon.

Mofei, looking back, was also stunned. The large ladle he was using to sneak hot food clattered to the ground. He coughed out a mouthful of Dragon Food, smoke escaping his lips as he muttered, "How... all of a sudden, are there so many dragons?"

The Drow mage, feeling that same inexplicable shudder, was so scared she nearly wet herself and collapsed to the ground. When she saw the sky-darkening spectacle of what looked like a flock of dragons returning to their nest, she was dumbfounded, left with nothing but profound awe for her Dragon Lord.

She and Mofei's dragon-catching group had toiled for seven years, and only with great effort had they managed to gather about twenty dragon beasts in the camp.

Her own Dragon Lord, David Uthos, had personally gone out and, in less than half a year, brought back about the same number.

And they were almost all True Dragons!

In that instant, the Drow mage had only two thoughts:

I am such an idiot!

Could it be? Am I about to lose my job?

Whether the Drow lost her job, she didn't know, but Mofei was on the verge of unemployment and demotion.

They saw a pair of Black Dragon siblings land before them. The male Black Dragon proudly nodded at the somewhat dazed white hatchling, Mofei.

"You must be Mofei. I am Alfonse, Farid Alfonse Mercutio Monte Negro, newly appointed by Lord David Uthos as the leader of the hatchlings."

"As a senior, I ask for your guidance."

Alfonse did not immediately show any disdain or Pride towards the White Dragon.

On the contrary, he gave Mofei plenty of respect.

"But... aren't you just a hatchling?" Mofei asked, somewhat panicked.

"This is Lord David Uthos's decree. If you have any doubts, please feel free to ask His Highness. I apologize for any inconvenience."

Behind him, his Black Dragon sister, Viola, couldn't help but raise her head to look down upon the much larger White Dragon.

... That day, Mofei felt as if a younger Black Dragon, who had just dropped in, had landed right on his face.

After mealtime, Mofei finally used his brain for once. Instead of going straight to the boss of bosses, he took a roundabout route to seek an audience with Nifadora, who had suddenly appeared nearby and bore a striking resemblance to the Green Dragon assistant.

Nifadora glanced at the little White Dragon—who, despite his lack of merits, had certainly endured many hardships—and offered him a way out: "As far as I know, Lord David Uthos hasn't revoked your position or duties."

In other words, Mofei was still second-in-command of the Dragon Nest camp, while the little Black Dragon who had dropped in was the leader of all the hatchlings.

And nominally, they were both under the care of Drow Kraidian, their dragon caregiver.

How could I not know? The most important thing for me to do right now is to rush back and cling to my 'mommy's' mighty thighs!

"Thank you, Lady Nifadora! I am grateful for your guidance." After leaving behind a gold nugget, Mofei hurried back to the camp, only to find that scheming little Black Dragon earnestly trying to cozy up to 'his mommy.'

Damn it! That's my mommy, Mofei's mommy!

This little squirt, so young, is already trying to pull an 'Ox-head Dragon' on me!

How infuriating!

「Meanwhile」, David, who had returned to the rebuilt and reinforced Dragon Nest, had nothing better to do and decided to catch up on some sleep.

The toil of the past half-year, combined with seven years of poor sleep due to constant dreaming, meant he desperately needed to catch up.

He didn't know how long he napped before he once again dreamt of that dim, blood-red expanse and the murmuring prayers.

But this time, the voice was much clearer—it was the voice of a young girl.

"Crimson Calamity..."

"Lord of the End of All Things..."

"Blood Demon..."

"Please grant me your strength once more..."

"I beg of you..."

In his sleep, David suddenly opened his lava-like crimson eyes.

Damn it, not again?!

And this dream is a total mess!

The Crimson Calamity is Mom's title!

I've never heard of the other two, and one of them sounds more like a Demon's name! These three titles are completely unrelated!

After confirming the Emerald Heart was no longer with him, and after casting two very expensive fifth-circle Greater Dispel Magic scrolls and a sixth-circle Exorcism Spell scroll to make sure no 'dirty things' were clinging to him, David lay back down.

Damn it, I refuse to believe this crap.

Recalling the details of the recurring dream, he prepared to attempt a Lucid Dream on his own, without relying on any external aids...
