Chapter 7: Chapter 7 The Abnormality of Dragon King Temple
The shooting of the previous scene had just wrapped up when the crew moved to another set.
As Qin Zhao arrived, she noticed something off about the magnetic field of the place.
She took out the compass she had purchased earlier, only to see the needle spinning wildly, rendering it useless.
If they continued filming here, there was bound to be trouble.
Qin Zhao approached the director and said, "This place has bad feng shui, it'd be better to find a different location."
"Since when did you become an expert in feng shui?"
Someone mocked from the side.
"Qin Zhao, it looks like you just don't want to shoot, what kind of nonsense are you going to come up with this time?"
Qin Zhao wasn't angry, she simply took out the compass.
"Look at the needle, it's not pointing in any direction, which indicates there's an issue with the magnetic field here."
"This is a small island by the sea, hey, a compass can be affected by the tides, it's normal for there to be issues."
"Maybe your compass is just broken? Before we start shooting, we always have a master come and take a look, and the master said everything would go smoothly, do you think you know better than the master?"
A number of people had gathered around by now, all pointing at Qin Zhao's compass.
"This is hilarious, Qin Zhao, such a waste who can't even act, now claims to understand feng shui."
"She loves to spout nonsense, making people think she's something big, we'd be fools to take her seriously."
The original owner had indeed bragged a few times in public.
Their disbelief in Qin Zhao was understandable.
"Alright, hurry up and change for the shoot!"
The director glanced at Qin Zhao and said, "Just focus on performing your role well, you did fine last time, I hope you can keep it up."
Qin Zhao turned and left.
Since they didn't believe her, it was pointless to say more.
When something happened, they would naturally believe.
Qin Zhao changed her clothes and waited for the makeup artist to do her makeup.
Since she didn't have many scenes, she was scheduled to shoot later, so the others went ahead and started.
"Your skin is really nice, you look good with just a few strokes of makeup," the makeup artist remarked while applying her makeup.
Qin Zhao, with her eyes closed, vaguely sensed the sea breeze outside getting stronger.
This time they were filming on an island, and the set was an ancient Dragon King Temple with many mottled and gigantic statues. Some were real statues, with a minor portion being props created by the crew.
There was a scene where the male lead kicks a massive statue which then falls and kills a disposable character.
The crew had made a life-size foam statue for the scene, which would replace the heavy stone one when it fell.
A loud crash suddenly echoed.
Qin Zhao's eyes snapped open, and she stepped out of the temporary makeup room.
"Ah!"
From the center of the set, a male actor's pained scream could be heard.
"Director, they pulled the wrong statue, it's not the prop, it's the real stone one!"
Beneath the toppled statue, blood was spilling everywhere, with the actor's leg crushed beneath it.
"What's going on? Didn't you check?"
"We did check, we were clearly using the foam prop!"
"Where's the prop?"
"It's gone, the foam prop has disappeared!"
The noisy set, in an instant, fell into an eerie silence.
"Quick, go look for it, such a huge prop can't just vanish!"
They halted shooting, rescued the injured actor and sent him to the hospital, and then started searching for the prop.
But no matter how much they searched the Dragon King Temple, they couldn't find the foam prop.
The foam prop and the stone statue were the same size, as tall as three men, impossible to hide anywhere!
"Ah!"
Another scream rang out.
A crew member who was carrying a camera fell from a ladder.
"Quick! Catch him!"
Everyone around was shocked rigid.
A slender figure suddenly appeared, catching the falling worker with steady arms.
With a loud bang, the camera smashed into the ground, shattering into pieces.
"Are you okay?"
The director rushed forward anxiously, gratefully looking at Qin Zhao, "Thank you so much, thank you!"
If it hadn't been for Qin Zhao's intervention, there would likely have been a loss of life today.
Qin Zhao glanced at him indifferently and set down the worker, whose face had turned deathly pale with fright.
The worker's legs went weak, and he almost fell to his knees, but the director held him up.
"Director, I felt like someone pushed me."
He spoke with a shiver.
Everyone looked up, but near the ladder, there were only beams, nowhere for anyone to stand.
"Holy crap, could there be a ghost?"
"This is so scary; I'm getting goosebumps."
"Didn't someone just say that this place has bad feng shui? Who mentioned that?"
The director withdrew his gaze from the beams above, feeling a chill down his spine, as if something in the shadows was watching them.
"Qin Zhao!" His lips quivered slightly while he wiped the fine sweat from his brow, "Is there really something wrong with this place?"
"Why would I lie to you?"
Qin Zhao crossed her arms, probably the calmest person on set.
The director remembered what she had said earlier, "You mentioned that the feng shui here is not good, why?"
"You have already offended him."
"So, what happened just now wasn't an accident?"
Qin Zhao didn't respond.
At that moment, a rumble of thunder sounded.
The sky outside grew dark, lightning flashing across the heavens.
The flickering light intensified the fear among everyone.
The statues around the Dragon King Temple looked particularly terrifying under these conditions.
"What do we do? What do we do!"
"Director, we should get out of here quickly, something is really wrong with this place!"
"Yeah, another accident might happen soon."
Qin Zhao then slowly began to speak, "I warned you earlier; it's too late to leave now unless you apologize to him."
"Who is he? You mean the one who pushed me..."
The almost-harmed worker still had a face as white as a sheet, too scared to finish his sentence.
"Why can't we leave? Let's just go."
Several actresses were so frightened they rushed toward the exit.
"Ah! Ahhh!"
A series of screams echoed out as they fainted at the doorway.
Everyone was shocked and stood rooted to the spot, not daring to move.
"Qin Zhao, do you have a way? We'll apologize! We'll apologize to him!"
As fear of death enveloped the crowd, the director looked to Qin Zhao with eyes pleading for help.
"To intervene will cost five million."
The director paused, his expression changing.
"If I don't intervene, none of you here today will be able to leave. Five million to save all of your lives, is that too much?"
Last time she earned five million, Qin Zhao had used it to pay off a penalty; damn it, it still wasn't enough, she calculated that the original owner owed a total of thirty million.
If she didn't pay off this debt quickly, she feared she might end up in prison.
Or alternatively, go home and beg her parents to repay it for her.
Naturally, Qin Zhao preferred not to ask others for help; she would rather earn the money herself.
"Fine! I'll give it to you!"
Looking at the few unconscious women, the director gritted his teeth and made a decision.
Qin Zhao nodded and led him to the side of the Dragon King Statue.
"You need to move this Dragon King Statue, dig out the skeleton beneath it, find a place with good feng shui for a proper burial, and then there will be no more problems."
The director swallowed and asked her, "Were all the things that happened just now because of him?"
