Chapter 103: A decade or not
“…I went to the tower that appeared after the dungeon closed. And it told me to go to “the world after the door closes”…I didn’t understand that…but after hearing What happened with Vikentiy…I think the world after the door closes is a locked dungeon.” Yue explained.
“…You’re probably right about that…the problem with trying to get locked in a dungeon is that we know absolutely nothing about it. We don’t know when we’d come back or even if we’d come back.” Viktor murmured.
“…But maybe we should try,” Yue murmured.
“But we also have other issues…Hundun is still out there…and our wedding…” Viktor murmured.
“Hundun…I think Hundun is also involved with the dungeons, that’s why they summoned two of them. And there are still other people who can deal with them while we’re away.” Yue murmured.
“And our wedding…we haven’t even set a date yet, but I can assure you, I’m not going to stop wanting to marry you,” Yue said and kissed Viktor’s cheek.
Viktor gave in and kissed Yue’s lips.
“We should talk to Mai and Huy about it.”
“Hmm alright,” Yue murmured.
—
“Let us come with you,” Mai said and looked at them seriously.
Huy seemed to agree and quickly nodded.
“Are you sure? You two just got married…” Yue murmured with a concerned look.
“Yeah, and what if something goes wrong here?” Viktor asked.
“It’ll be fine. The followers will deal with it.” Huy explained.
Yue and Viktor were unsure but Huy and Mai insisted.
“Well… now it’s a waiting game…” Yue murmured after they finally decided to all go together.
“I’ll have followers keep an eye on when and where dungeons appear,” Huy murmured.
“I will do so as well.” Yue nodded.
“I’ll inform my mother,” Viktor added and they all came to an agreement.
—
“Vikentiy Ivanov…I’ve had centuries to learn about him and I’m still puzzled,” Elena murmured.
“His qualities have certainly passed on to the rest of the family though.” She clearly pointed to Viktor as she said that and he just looked away. He wasn’t particularly happy with being told that but he knew she was talking about the Blood-related Ivanovs as a whole.
“They tend to hold grudges, they’re very quick to move into relationships, they can be bloodthirsty…and they cherish their mothers and wives a lot.” Elena ruffled Viktor’s hair a bit as she said that.
Yue laughed as he heard this, those were all things he learned about the family very early on.
“They also despise even the mention of the ‘A-word’...” That was a bit more pointed.
Yue was confused about the “A-Word” but before Elena could enlighten him Viktor changed his position and signaled to her that he really didn’t want to talk about it.
“As I said, they hold grudges,” Elena whispered under her breath.
“Anyway, my point is that I know about him. I don’t find him impossible to understand as a person though. Most people do but maybe it’s because I’m looking at him from an inhuman standpoint but I don’t find him very puzzling in that sense. His intentions at the end of his life are what truly confuses me.” Elena explained.
“He was going to return to the dungeons after his sons grew up and he was just going to come back in some faraway future or maybe not at all but suddenly he changed his mind. He decided to build his power and die with all of his secrets…” Elena murmured, “I can sort of see why he chose to die since he cursed the family like this but still don’t know why he believed that a new body would work better.”
“The effect of him being in the dungeon for 10 years is still present in the genes of the family but compared to the effects that were probably present in his own body they are probably lacking so I don’t know exactly what he’s trying to do.” Viktor murmured as he touched his hair, “If he wanted a clean slate he should’ve cursed someone completely outside of the family or simply not chosen me since I have experience with dungeons.”
“Well…once you get there, you’ll probably find out a lot,” Elena murmured.
“Just be sure to come back to us. In less than 10 years if possible.” Elena said and smiled.
“We’ll do our best,” Yue said and smiled.

Yue and Viktor returned to the Azure Dragon temple briefly so Yue could get some things and explain what he was going to do.
Jinghua was relieved to see Viktor, she had actually begun to worry in the past few days about whether or not Yue and Viktor were actually “okay”. Since Yue seemed so depressed after he left. She was relieved to see them right back to their lovey-dovey selves again.
“W-Wait, My lord… I don’t know about this….” Jinghua murmured.
“There’s no need to worry.” Yue said, “Even if it takes a decade… we’ll definitely come back alive.”
“…” Jinghua wanted to reason with him more but she feared overstepping the boundary. She and the other followers knew they had overstepped enough already. After not seeing their god for 19 years they wished to hold on to him for as long as possible, regardless of how selfish it was.
Other followers seemed to be thinking of speaking to Yue once Jinghua stopped but she turned and gave them a look that made them stop.
