The Primordial Record

Chapter 1498: Dawn Of The Supreme Era (13)

The truth of his existence was fully revealed to Caine and that understanding which should have exacerbated his madness only drew a dull rise out of him, everything was blunted by the ever-growing pain that he had experienced for an infinity.

He was no longer surprised at how easily Primordial Chaos had manipulated him. From the beginning of his existence, there had only been an illusion of choice, and the few times he was allowed to roam free were only because Primordial Chaos was disguising how much power he had over him.

Caine could see the irony in all of this. To all of existence, he was the single greatest enemy of his father, for many Minor Eras, Caine had waged war against all of his creations, loudly proclaiming to all that while his father was imprisoned, his greatest goal was to supplant his position.

He had worked with other Primordial powers against the interest of his father, killing and butchering countless Chaos Blood on his quest to free himself from the Intent that he could feel weighing down on his soul, some of his acts had been so dastardly that Caine was well aware that if there was a poll to enumerate who was most responsible for destroying the Frozen Road, breaking apart one of the most significant workings of Primordial Chaos, then his name would be at the top of the list.

Yet, for all of his bluster and so-called achievements, he had simply remained a tool for Primordial Chaos, a hidden blade that was used to channel the influence of his father at the places he needed them, and now at the dawn of Supreme Era, it would seem that Primordial Chaos was no longer directing this puppet show from behind and was now actively pushing for his will to come to pass.

"You are correct, the time for subtlety is over. From the moment my influence was purged from the pivot that bounds this Era, my advantages over my brethren have fallen to the side, but I still have you, my great betrayer."

From an extremely great distance, Caine could barely see Rowan, as reality bent around him, shielding him from the sight of Primordials, but one thing was extremely common anywhere that he entered, great and terrible events followed.

Primordial Chaos no longer having any hold over Rowan decided to play the long game, if he could not directly control this change, he would direct it.

Caine watched the moment Primordial Chaos entered his mind, digging into it with callous disregard and changing his purpose.

Even though he was only witnessing the memory of this violation, it nearly drove Caine once again to the edge of madness, yet it was the shielding of the barrier of pain that had been imposed over his consciousness by Primordial Chaos that kept him focused on what he was witnessing, however, Caine found something odd as the memory was beginning to play out, it was so small that he would have missed it ten out of ten times, but his soul latched unto this small detail, and he discovered that he could see a bit of the reasoning behind Primordial Chaos Intent when he was dealing with Rowan.

Caine did not know how this was possible, with the power of Primordial Chaos, there should have been no way that would have allowed his thought processes to slip through the gap of the visions he was showing to Caine, but it was happening, and Caine no longer fought against the vision, he simply accepted them, waiting and watching.

Something very strange was happening, and Caine was wise enough to know that if he attempted to dig into it, then Primordial Chaos would instantly be alerted to this oddity.

In the vision, he found himself before Rowan once more, who after defeating every opposition inside his home universe was ready to leave it for the higher realms, and after proposing a mutually beneficial bargain, Caine began telling Rowan about the truth of reality and the strengths of the Primordials that governed it.

Everything told to Rowan was factually true, yet without the proper context this information would lead Rowan back into the hands of Primordial Chaos. Seeds of fear and doubts were left on the soil of Rowan's mind, and it would only require small events happening for those seeds to take root and blossom into shackles that would bind Rowan once more to Primordial Chaos, who could no longer offer Rowan power as easily as before since the child could now easily discern a poisoned fruit.

Primordial Chaos had no way of directly suppressing Rowan without alerting the remaining Primordials of his activities, keeping their gaze away from his plans was difficult enough with the field of Oblivion he had over the entire lower realms which was mostly focused on resisting the sights of Primordials, and if he tried to unleash greater power against a blessed being like Rowan whose powers over reality could not be ascertained, then he would be jointly attacked by the others.

The fate of Primordial Time and Primordial Soul was an example to them all. No Primordial would allow the other to gain an advantage that was so great it could threaten any of them, and Primordial Chaos had two examples that he could draw upon to avoid making such mistakes.

Besides, the greatest reason he was giving all of this information to Rowan was to ensure that he did not easily fall into the hands of other Primordials who already had a stake in his domain but was still yet unaware of that stake.

Primordials shed their intents all over reality and most of the time, they expected nothing to come off of it, and if they knew they had caught a big fish like Rowan, they would tear all of reality apart to get to him, Primordial Chaos was simply making sure that the shielding that he had over Rowan's fate by giving him this information was enough to keep him away from the Primordial Domains and slowly fall into the familiarity of Chaos.

The foundations of Rowan's powers were built upon Primordial's Chaos Design, from his Chaos Engine to his Ouroboros Serpents, if there was anyone who should be able to anticipate what Rowan was about to do then it would be Primordial Chaos.

However, it turned out that he was wrong.
