The Porter is Secretly an SS-Level Hunter

Chapter 90: The Death of Mother (2)

When the light cleared, Mother floated in the air.

Her hair laid long as her black strands moved around like snakes were in her locks. Her skin had a blue hue to it as she only wore a long black transparent skirt; her chest laid bare.

The wrap around her eyes was gone, showing black sclera eyes. She gave a broad smile, putting her complete sharp teeth on display. There was no longer any beauty on her face as she looked monstrous.

Mother did not speak any words as her hair lashed out, grabbing Siren's wrist as she pulled them forward.

Neban swiftly grabbed the strand once it wrapped around Siren's wrist. He gripped then pulled the thick strand apart. It tore off, a piece of it falling to the ground.

Siren rotated their wrist as they made a weapon appear in their hand. Mother rushed forward, Neban pushing Siren out of the way as he blocked whatever attack Mother had.

He grabbed the knife that appeared in Mother's hand. He winced as the weapon cut through his palm, letting blood drip down without fail.

Clicking their tongue, Siren moved forward, swinging their weapon towards Mother. The woman disappeared, making Siren catch air. Neban still held the knife as he opened his palm, letting the blade clatter to the floor. The wound surprisingly started to close itself.

Everything moved fast as Mother reappeared again, reaching for Siren once more. Neban tried to intercept, but Mother's hair whipped out, slamming him in the side. He flew into the throne, sliding to the ground from the impact.

Siren raised their weapon, blocking Mother's grab towards his throat. Flames started to surround Mother's hands and arms, burning their weapon into liquid.

Siren moved back as the hot liquid burned a hole into the ground. They cursed as Mother followed their movement, latching onto their shirt as the material started to burn off.

Neban picked himself up, unleashing his shadow as it latched onto Mother's. He grabbed her shadow, holding it down so that she could not move any further.

'Slice her hand off.' He told Siren through their mind link.

Siren nodded, making another weapon appear in their hand as they cut Mother's flaming hand from their ruined shirt. Mother tried to move away, but she realized that something had her stuck.

Siren escaped, quickly making their way towards Neban as they discarded their ruined shirt.

Mother sneered.

She looked down at the ground, seeing that something held onto her shadow. Using all her strength, she picked her foot up with a bit of struggle. Once it was up, she slammed it back down.

Neban's shadow let her go as a weird line appeared on its side.

Cracks surrounded her, making their way towards Neban and Siren. The ground under Mother's foot caved in with pieces of it dangerously sticking up.

Neban and Siren moved back, but Neban did not get far as he grabbed his side in pain, falling to one knee. It felt like someone stabbed him in his side when his shadow came back to him.

"Neban," Siren called, grabbing him to check on the man.

But Mother was already on the move as she appeared before them, kicking Siren in the stomach. Siren threw up something in mid-air as they landed into a wall, breaking it. Their body fell through the new vast hole.

Then, Mother grabbed Neban by his hair, pulling his head back, almost snapping his neck. She made him stare into her eyes that looked darker than the abyss.

Flames surrounded them as the woman smirked.

"Look at you. You are where you belong. On your knees, gazing upon a higher being like me." Mother boasted.

Neban glared defiantly at her. He wanted to move his eyes away to see the family he had not checked on since they started fighting. He hoped the barrier surrounding them kept them safe this whole time.

But he never moved his eyes away from Mother. He did not want to give her the satisfaction of appearing weak.

"A higher being," Neban scoffed, "you are nothing but a monster that will get slaughter with the rest."

A knife silently appeared in his hand.

Mother's face scrunched in anger, only making it uglier than before. She picked her hand up, getting ready to slam it through Neban's throat when she fell to her knees.

Water began to drip down the ceiling as rain filled the room, killing the flames. The water never fell on Nevan or Mother. It disappeared once the flames exhausted. The surrounding air became heavy, making it hard for Neban and Mother to breathe.

But Neban showed his reaction through his trembling body and shaky breathing.

Mother was on her knees, gripping her throat as the heavy air affected her the most. Drool began to fall down her chin as she tried to bring air into her lungs.

She coughed, choking.

Neban dropped the knife in his hand, in the middle of them. Mother looked at it, wanting to say something witty, but it was hard to speak through the choking.

The knife began to waver as it transformed into Siren. Except Siren was in a child form as their long hair flowed on the ground, spreading out. Their strands wrapped around Neban, like they were protecting him.

Once Neban felt the strands surrounding him, oxygen started to come back as the air lightened around him. He could breathe easy again.

Siren's lashes were extended, making their black sclera eyes look enticing. Their face was young and smooth like a child as they smiled at Mother. Fangs extended to their lips.

Mother tried to access her power, but it felt like something locked it when she noticed a bracelet on her wrist.

"W-what?" She choked out.

Siren laughed, grabbing Mother's chin as they pulled their face closer. "I tricked you, Mother."

Siren still had the collar that Mother put on them in the beginning to capture them. It never left them. They kept it hidden for a long time when it started to loosen because Mother forced them to be a sword.

When Neban took hold of them, the collar no longer restricted them. Siren kept the thing in a hidden space to one day use against Mother like she did him.

They talked about it with Neban before. And the chance came when they had a silent conversation when Siren called Neban's name when he fell to his knee.

Neban let himself get captured because his side did hurt. Siren knew Mother was going to push them away to kill Neban first since he was hurt.

So, when the mother kicked them away, Siren swiftly and silently slipped the collar out, turning it into a bracelet as they let it fall onto the woman's wrist.

She did not feel anything, and it took a while for the bracelet to turn on and work.

What hit the wall was not Siren as they secretly transformed into a knife, hiding in Neban's hand. If someone looked over, a log went through the wall rather than Siren's body.

Neban laughed, flinching from the pain as it made his side worse.

Mother growled, only to cough more and more as blood started to slip out her mouth. It splashed on Siren's face.

Siren did not care about the blood being coughed on their face as they could smell how enticing it was.

"You are mine to kill, Mother."

Siren moved their mouth towards Mother's ear, whispering, "Vale."

Mother tried to struggle, but she could not do anything from the heavy air and the bracelet locking her powers.

Silently laughing, Siren opened their mouth wide, sinking their fangs into Mother's skin. They quickly drained her, gulping down her blood like a starved person.

Neban was breathing hard, watching Siren drink from Mother as life started to seep from the woman's eyes. For the first time, Neban did not feel disgusted with Siren as they watched with satisfaction.

A few minutes passed when the woman looked like a mummy as Siren pulled away. They turned back into their adult form as they pulled their hair back. Siren ultimately made the heavy air disappear.

Once the hair left him, Neban stood up, gripping his side as he made his way towards his family still in the corner.

The destroyed ground made Neban's walking weird. Cracks started to build around the building like it wanted to go down.

Neban ignored it all as the barrier began to disappear from his family.

Once he finally made it there, he dropped to his knees as the barrier was no more. His family did not wake up, but Neban could see their chest moving, so he did not freak out.

He touched the chains on them, breaking each one as it took a while since he was in pain. It also felt like his strength was leaving him.

When he finished taking the chains off, he grabbed Theo, bringing his son into his arms and lap. Neban sighed, his face softening as he ran his hand through Theo's hair.

He gazed at his son's sleeping face as his other hand softly touched his cheeks. The best feeling to Neban was his son back in his arms.

Neban was elated to have his family again and that they were safe. But Theo always comes first no matter what.

Siren walked over to him, sitting down as they looked at the others in a deep sleep. They wiped the remaining blood on their lips and chin.

"Are you ready to go back home?"

"Yeah." Neban quietly spoke, his eyes never leaving Theo.
