The next morning, golden rays of sunlight peeked through the silk curtains and danced across Shen Zeming's chiseled face as he lay peacefully in his king-sized bed. The wealthy young master's slumber was finally disturbed by the insistent buzzing of his smartphone vibrating on the nightstand.
Shen Zeming's eyelashes fluttered open slowly as he let out a soft yawn, running a hand through his tousled bed hair.
He squinted at the bright screen to see it was an official government number calling - the same one he had dialed the previous night to set a trap for Luo Chun. A sly smile played across his lips as he swiped to answer, wondering if it concerned that very case.
"Good morning, Young Master Shen," a honeyed female voice purred into his ear, smooth and tempting in a way that made Shen's eyes narrow with intrigue. He didn't respond right away, curious to see where this was going.
"Oh my, you're so mean, Young Master. Did you forget what you promised yesterday?" The seductive lilt carried an accusatory tone as the mystery caller referenced some unspoken deal between them. Shen Zeming's smile widened as the memory clicked into place.
"So, it's you, beauty. I thought it was some random prankster," he replied in an amused tone, already kicking off the silk sheets to stride naked towards the ensuite bathroom, phone in hand.
"Hehe, Young Master is naughty. You know me, but you don't remember my name?" The woman's voice took on a playful, teasing quality as it echoed around the marble-tiled space, mingling with the sound of the shower spray hitting Shen Zeming's body.
"Wait, Young Master, are you taking a bath right now?!" She sounded flustered at the sudden splashing noises. When no response came, she hurriedly stated her purpose. "I'm hanging up! Come to the Beijing Police Department - we need you as a witness in our case!"
Just after she disconnected, another call notification pinged on Shen's phone - this time a text from his family's butler. "Good morning, Young Master. I'm here to inform you that there is a company meeting this morning. The lady and lord requested your presence."
The call ended abruptly, leaving Shen Zeming furrowing his brows under the shower spray. Suddenly, a transparent screen materialized before his eyes in the steamy bathroom.
