The Nihilos: Trash Player Who Rewrote Reality

Chapter 38: Chapter 37 – Shadow Between Realities

Raven stood frozen in the kitchen, a plate in his hand, eyes locked on Ava.

"No one exists named Sol," she said again, her voice flat. Unnaturally calm.

His breath hitched. "What are you talking about? He… he was just here—"

Behind her, just for a split second, he saw it.

A shadow — thin, featureless, stretched like it didn't belong. It stood behind Ava, unmoving, watching.

The room suddenly grew cold.

Raven stepped back.

Pain lanced through his chest. Not sharp — suffocating. Like ice rushing through his veins.

He staggered.

The light above flickered.

Then—white.

Blinding. Loud.

He felt himself falling—

---

He opened his eyes.

Ava was crouched over him, frowning.

"You idiot! What are you doing sleeping outside?"

Her fingers pinched his cheek hard.

"Hey! You're gonna freeze out here."

Raven sat up fast, eyes wide, heart pounding. He was… on the balcony? A blanket halfway tossed over him. Cold air brushing his skin.

Ava stood next to him with arms crossed.

And beside her—

"Sol?" Raven whispered.

Sol raised a brow. "Yeah? Who else were you expecting, genius?"

Raven stared, wide-eyed. "You're… you're here."

Sol snorted. "Where else would I be? Ava said you never came back in after stargazing last night. You seriously slept out here the whole time?"

Raven didn't answer. His fingers trembled slightly.

"I…" He looked down. The cold was real. So was the numbness in his hands. The faint ache in his back. "It felt so real."

Ava tilted her head. "What did?"

Raven looked at her — at the warmth in her eyes, the sunrise behind them.

"…Nothing. Just a dream."

But in his mind, that voice lingered.

> "No one exists named Sol…"

And somewhere, deep behind his vision, he could still feel it — the shadow watching from behind her.
