The New Lincoln Loud

Chapter 6: Chap 6

As Lori left the room, a notice appeared in front of me.

[New skill unlocked]

[Soul Voice Lv1

effect: when songs have, they have a 1% chance to perfectly convey your real feelings to the listener, the percentage doubles when the song resonates with the person]

Upon observing the effect of the skill, Lori probably fell under the effect of it, and by her reaction, it must have also doubled the effect of the song's resonance on her....

When I saw how fragile she looked, with so many tears in her eyes, the slight resentment I had had towards her quickly faded away as if it had never been there.

I know her attitude wasn't great, but I could see that maybe it was a defense mechanism, that she was crying like that, because her arrogant and narcissistic facade was hiding a very blue heart.

but my song broke down her defenses and exposed her fragile and soft heart.

I stopped recording with the program installed on my computer, leaving it for editing later, now I had to help a troubled older sister.

using the palms of my hands to wipe away my tears, I walked slowly to her room.

When I got to her room, my mother was there, holding a basket of clothes with one arm while raising the other to knock on the door.

But her raised hand never touches her door and it was there raised for 30 seconds until she decides to intervene.

"Let me talk to her..." I said quietly, scaring her a little, but when she saw me, especially my puffy eyes, doubts quirked in her head.

"What happened Lincoln, I think I saw her cry?" she asks with concern.

shaking my head, I know the last thing Lori wants right now is to talk to our mother, but their relationship is something I can always mediate in the future.

"she hears me sing a song I wrote...I just sent it to you in your mail,"

when she heard me, I could easily notice the confusion on her face, but she trusted me and left with the basket full of clothes and her phone as she went to her room to listen to the song.

Knock Knock-

"Did you give him the recording of the Song?"

I could hear a kind of fear and anticipation in her voice.

"Yes, it would be nice if she understood what the letters meant," I said quietly.

The room was silent for a few seconds before I heard the door open and someone running to her side of the room,

As I slowly opened the door, I could see Lori, huddled under the bed sheets, covering her head probably very embarrassed.

"Why did you give him that?! What am I going to do now?" she asked anxiously.

I sat down on her side of the bed, put my hand on where her head was and began to stroke it lightly,

"You know it's for the best, even if it's hard to face it, but if he knows what he's doing is hurting you, it might get better, right?" I said in the calmest voice I could muster.

He was silent for a few seconds until he suddenly asked.

"What?" he was confused

"Since when have you been using me to write this song?" he asked in an offended tone, but it was a good thing he didn't pull away from my hand stroking his head.

"I wasn't using you to write a song, just this week I've been putting together the pieces of what was going on, and decided to make a song out of it since I didn't know what to do with them" I tried to explain with the first thing that came to mind.

He was silent. Maybe it worked?

"Do you think I'm wrong?" she asked softly, with a tone of uncertainty.

"It depends" I replied, making her look a little offended and confused.

"As she tried to avoid my hand, she asked angrily "What did I do wrong?"

Laughing at the way she was squirming to avoid my hand "I know it was a way to defend you, but I was a little hurt by the way you treated me, and I think they all felt the same way, they are all afraid of you for a reason."

Hearing that, Lori who was squirming under the sheets to avoid my hand, froze in place.

"I'm sorry...she said in a voice so low it sounded like a whisper, "But do you think I was wrong in the way I treated her?"

Taking advantage of her calmness, I stroked her head again.

"A little" I said

"Even in the way she treats me?" she asked with an angry tone.

"that's why I said you are a bit wrong, I can give you the reason to be angry about everything that happened, but there are better ways to solve it than provoking her more, even if her means are not the best, in her mind she is doing everything possible so that nothing bad happens to you" I said calmly so she wouldn't feel offended.

"Even forcing me to play that stupid piano?" she asked angrily, You said it yourself, she didn't make me learn it because it was good for me, she did it because it was something I wanted to do!"

Listening to her vent, I simply continued to stroke her head.

"Did he ever tell you why he wanted you to learn the piano?" i asked.

"No..." she replied in an uncertain tone.

"You know, I don't know why either, but according to my logic, if she made you learn the piano because she missed an opportunity in the past because she wasn't good at it, do you think that from her point of view, making you learn is for your own good?" I asked using the same tone I had used before.

Listening to my logic, Lori remained silent as she continued to curl up under the sheets.

I stood there quietly keeping her company, letting her calm down and think for a bit.

"Thank you Lincoln...she said in a very calm tone.

"No problem, I'm your favorite brother remember...if you need help, just talk to me." I said as I stood up while heading for the door.

"You know..." She poked her head out of the sheets and said as I left the room.

I stopped to look at her, waiting for her to finish what she was about to say.

"I like you better that way....ella said before covering herself again and hiding.

I smiled, feeling something warm in my chest.

I was very happy, as this was the first sincere thank you I had ever heard in my two lives.

When I went into my room I noticed some drops of water on my door, which I assumed were Lori's tears.

I just ignored them and sat down in front of my computer,

the way I wanted to release the song was to keep it acoustic, I wanted the image to be of an indie musician just starting out.

An indie musician has a lot more intimacy than a full-blown musician lacks.

Even if in just a few days I could learn how to edit my music to make it sound like studio music, I didn't want to do it.

But I could still spend some time out of my day learning how to edit, I thought as I looked at the program that I had no idea how to use.

Fortunately with the system, it was easy to learn just by watching a few Metube tutorials.

In just one hour I had already upgraded my new skill to Lv6.

[audio editing Lv 6

Effects: 4% easier to understand and apply audio concepts, +4% more likely that people will like your editing].

In the last few days, I have been trying to understand one of the concepts of the system.

When the skill said there was a +4% chance that the listener would like something I did, not that it would make them completely fanatical, it would simply make the person recognize the quality of my skill.

Just like a person doesn't like extreme sports, they can't deny that the people who do them are awesome, even if they are doing something the viewer doesn't like.

Of course if I can maximize all those skills and get a person to listen to it, the likelihood of that person actually liking it as a whole is very high, but if there's one little thing they don't like, it's probably enough for them to dislike the music, even if they like everything else.

But I don't worry, having a good voice, good looks and good lyrics is already a big advantage for any musician, and with my {Soul Voice] my advantage is even bigger!

With the song finally released, I decided to make more drawings to raise money.

One artwork I sold to otakus, surprisingly I had already increased my followers by 4,000 in the last few days.

I had a high demand and very little supply, the drawing I had promised today had sold for $100!

Like those artists who sold Furry drawings in my previous life, I had already managed to sell my drawings for such a high price, even without stooping to drawing porn.

[Illustration Lv 34

With illustration, you improve 34% faster and have 34% chance that people like your art]

My skill had increased its nival to 34, but I had noticed something.

The time to level up the skill had increased in difficulty since I reached level 30.

When I looked at the quality of knight I had drawn, I knew that I had reached a very high level in this style of drawing, but I was still far from those who worked in game art in my previous life, so my theory was that at level 30, it is as if I had completed the basic level to be proficient in this skill and from there I will train to reach the really professional level.

Autor note:

(basically to divide the levels, from 1 to 10 would be primary level, from level 10 to 20 would be secondary level, from level 20 to 30 would be high school level, from level 30 to 40 would be university level, and from level 40 to 50 would be professional level, the highest levels from there would be people who dedicated their whole life to a trade and could reach level 60 or higher depending on their talent, level 70 and higher you could already be considered a legend. sorry for interrupting keep reading)

If I had to decide which would be better for this theory, it would be that instead of raising my music now, since my singing and guitar are still in the early 20's, I would wait for both skills to reach level 30, but there was one thing I considered.

since I want to use the Indie artist rute, starting out as someone who sings perfectly could hurt me more than help me, so having a song or two before level thirty would be very good in the long run.

So that's what I did, I recorded Numb with Lv23 in Sing and I intend to record another one before Lv30.

Looking at the raw file, I knew the song wouldn't be very nice to show my parents before sending it off, so I decided to let Lori know about the Submission tomorrow.
