The Mundane Journal Entries of an Ordinary Person

Chapter 19: 18th entry

Season: Summer

Weather: Hot and stuffy. That's all I know. I haven't been outside for a while.

Day of the week: Tuesday

Date: 6th February, 2024

I've been pretty sick. Anthony Duin has the spare keys to my place now. He's worried that something will happen like last week where he rang and rang and rang the doorbell but I hadn't been able to get up to open the door. Looks like my leave has been extended.

I have no idea what's been going on. I think some paramedics came to visit at some stage but they thought I was fine. They didn't think a visit to the doctor would be necessary. See, I'm fine. Just need a good rest.

I remember my mobile phone ringing non-stop last week, but I couldn't pick it up. I was afraid to pick it up. I don't know if I can bring myself to face anything to do with my family right now. The messages I have glimpsed flashing across my phone screen were all accusations. Mean and hurtful things or demands for me to send more money.

Since I'm awake and feeling a lot better, perhaps I'll just go online and see if there's any work I can do. I need something, anything to distract me right now.

I feel so miserable.

Maybe I should sell my shiny new television and my laptop. Maybe the new couch and new rug? Maybe I should move out of this apartment and find a room. Renting a room isn't so convenient, but it's cheaper than renting a whole apartment.
