Chapter 9 - A Gift For Theresa! Plus 160 System Points!
Buno was beside Lynn with an excited look.
”You are going to be a flame wizard! They are the most powerful kind!”
Lynn also could not help but get excited.
”Do not worry. Take out the remaining spores first and save them. We first need to confirm that the spores growing are from the magic potion. It is also possible to grow ordinary plants here, and if that is the case leave some spores. We will at least be able to try again.”
Lucy took Lynn’s arm and smiled at him.
”Lynn, you are so smart. You are careful with the spores in fear that all of them will be wasted,” she says.
”Lord, your decision is very wise,” Buno also chimed in. “I have a hunch that the Kyle family will come to regret that they gave all of the resources to Master Linze instead of you. It was definitely the wrong decision.”
Lynn nodded with confidence, but not in an overly prideful way. He calmly replied to the man.
”Uncle Buno, you will lead three warriors to guard this place. This is the most important place in Fenglin Village right now. Absolutely no one is allowed to come near!”
”Yes, Lord Lynn.”
Lynn took the remaining spores and handed them to Buno. He had a heavy look when he saw the spores, and vowed to never give them to another soul. Lynn trusted him, and patted him on the shoulder. He then left the plantation with four magic potions devoid of spores.
”Let us go back to the castle now,” suggested Lucy. “You will eat them, right? Other children are already five years old when they first eat Archfiend meat and potions. You have talent, but I am worried about you, Lynn.”
”Do not worry. Call your entourage for me. I am going to write a letter to Theresa and give her a gift,” Lynn said while smiling. Lucy looked at him in surprise.
”You are not going to…”
”Without the spores, the value of the mushrooms have dropped a lot. So, I am going to send two of them to Theresa. This will help her, too.” Lucy hurriedly shook her head at this.
”No! You eat it. The Frost Maple family is not short of these!”
Lynn touched her silver hair and replied to her worries in a sweet tone.
”Whether or not Theresa is short of magic potions, I am going to send them. She helped me, so this is just a way to say thank you. I also want them to know that you have the right vision.”
Lucy became a little shy, but she was still slightly reluctant. Fame was important, and she wanted people to know how great Lynn was. She wanted people to envy her and her great husband. Yet, she wanted Lynn to take the mushrooms. On the other hand, if he gave them to her mother, her mind would shift to Lynn’s favor.
Lynn did not say anything further, and gave two potions to the servants with an order to send them to Lucy’s mother. The magic potions would be worth a lot of money and in the case of flame mushrooms, they would be worth fifty silver coins. In total, two gold coins. For an average family, one gold coin allowed them to live for three months without worries.
Since this was a great wealth, the responsibility to transport them fell on the most loyal person in the entourage. Lynn arranged a small party and entrusted them with the mushrooms to be delivered to Theresa. Afterwards, he took Lucy back to the farm. The villagers in this village were very hard working, and they fought all year round to survive. Although they were illiterate, they possessed decent intelligence. But only using a hoe, their efficiency was kind of low. Lynn thought about it and told his entourage to bring some cattle over to help with the farming. The villagers started to panic!
”My Lord! We can’t! Your cattle is your wealth. How could we use it?!”
”We will work hard, my Lord. Please don’t do this.”
Lynn’s cattle were worth more than the lives of the civilians, so they were afraid to use the cattle to help them farm. Lynn had expected this and calmly replied to their worries.
”I am not letting you use my cow in vain!” he shouted. “Once you are done with the work here, you will help me reclaim new land! I will help you save time, and in return you will help me work. Understood?”
The villagers all looked at Lynn in surprise, but soon came to a conclusion.
”It seems to be possible to do that. The cows get the job done relatively quickly, so we can help the Lord and reclaim more land.”
”We will listen to your orders, my Lord,” replied the villagers.
The villagers were more efficient and grateful for the help of the cattle. The cows were faster and more efficient compared to only using the farm tools. All the land had been cultivated and sown in just one day, since this wheat already contained magic and did not require much land in the first place. Generally speaking, just reclaiming the wasteland would not normally yield crops without restoring the land. Normally, it took a year or two to get arable land. Yet, this wheat could be grown without much effort.
The next day when Lynn got up, he gained more System points at six in the morning. One hundred and sixty points! Lynn seemed happy at the announcement. It seemed that through the cultivation and reclaimation of the land, along with the magical mushrooms, the System’s reward greatly improved.
Lynn washed his body and went for breakfast. After that, he went to the iron cages behind the castle and spent all one hundred sixty points on the half-wolf warriors. He had gained two new soldiers and evolved them twice, which spent eighty points. Then, Lynn went and evolved two more tigers once for another twenty points. Lynn also wanted to have two half-tiger warriors!
The Half-Wolf Corps and with two half-tiger warriors. Lynn had no plans to change his name because it was not important for a powerful army. Right now, he had eleven half-beast warriors! Unexpectedly, he had formed a strong fighting force!
Lynn even had a feeling that his warriors could attack some of the small territories if he wanted to, but he did not. Small territories were not worth much money. Also, the northern aristocracy had alliances so that others would not attack them. The food could not keep up, but should develop territory first?
After Lynn ran out of points, he gave up on five half-wolves. He followed three servants up the hill and hunted for wild animals. Lynn found the wild fruit on the mountain very palatable, and wanted to eat fresh ones every day. Lynn also wanted to catch some silver wolves, tigers, or some other beasts to build his army.
Everything needed to be accumulated, so Lynn went to observe how the farmland was doing. To his surprise, the wheat was growing faster than expected. It had only been a day, but there were buds growing out of the ground. They looked green, strong, and healthy!
