The mother in law gifts me a mountain for a new beginning

Chapter 15 - The Legion Expands! Do We Need To Limit Lynn's Weapons Purchases?!

”We bought more items than we expected, and ran out of funds. The members of the caravan have followed us. Lord Lynn, please pay the rest of the owed money,” Buno said after Lynn checked the weapons

”No problem.”

A middle aged man in a white turban came up to Lynn and asked for the money.

”Lord, you owe me thirty silver coins.”

Lynn asked a servant to deliver the amount to the man. Once the money was received by the merchant, Lynn went to the next business at hand.

”I need to buy more weapons. Can you provide them?”

”Of course I can! How many do you need? As long as you have the gold coins necessary, I can purchase the weapons for you!”

”I need twenty heavy swords, fifty armor sets, and some strong bows,” Lynn replied.

”The heavy swords will cost three gold and fifty silver coins. Leather armor costs twelve silver a set, so with fifty sets you will need six gold coins. Lastly, a strong bow is not expensive and will cost just fifteen silver coins,” the merchant explains.

”What is the soonest I can get them?”

”If you have the money, we can bring them in three days,” respectfully replied the caravan member.  Lynn nodded to the man.

”I have money, but I can give you a different capital. I have eight hundred pounds of  a higher quality wine than the one you had bought. You can either take the money directly, or you can have the wine to sell. You choose which method you want.”

”Can I see the wine you brewed?” Asked the caravan member. His eyes had lit up with excitement.

”Of course.”

Lynn asked his entourage to prepare a large glass of wine. The caravan members nervously shuffled.

”It is too much… Alcohol is expensive…”

”Considering what I have asked from you, you are a friend from afar,” Lynn said with generosity and politeness.

”Thank you for your magnanimity.”

The caravan members took the glass and sipped the wine.

”It is good!” they exclaimed. “It is stronger than the last wine! Although it is not very sweet, it should have an even better reception by the nobles!”

”How about you sell this pound of  wine for a silver and twenty copper coins?” Lynn asked.

The caravan member mused for a moment, but in the end shook his head.

”It is too expensive. A silver and ten copper coins is probably the limit.”

”If the price seems reasonable to you, then that is okay.” Lynn said generously. “I do wish for the things I need to be delivered as soon as possible.”

The caravan members were impressed by Lynn’s grandeur, and respectfully followed his will.

”Lord, I promise I will do my best to meet your expectations.”

Lynn ate a good dinner with Buno and the caravan members. Lynn’s entourage and the villagers unloaded the large quantity of supplies while everyone ate. After dinner, Buno followed the caravan with five half beast fighters to set off for the town of Sla to obtain the remaining weapons.

Lynn and his followers began to get the supplies in order. The beef and mutton needed to be smoked and dried. If not, they would certainly rot. The livestock also needed to be encircled.  From the fifty chicken cubs, four of them died on the road leaving forty six of them. With a little spirit, they were fenced off a small distance away from the castle, whereas the cows were placed on the other side of the village. They reeked so bad that Lynn did not want to smell them everyday. Since there were a large quantity of purchases, everyone had to work throughout the night to sort everything out.

Lucy was very excited at first and helped with some of the dirty work, but soon got exhausted and went to sleep. Lynn, being the lord, did not participate in the activities and was clean. He did not rush to sleep, but instead continued to meditate. Although his talent was fair and the legion was strong, Lynn still strived to obtain his own strength to match theirs. After midnight, Lynn went to sleep.

Early the next morning, he woke up again. Today’s points totalled two hundred and seventy, and with the ten leftover from yesterday he had two hundred and eighty. He used all of them up, creating seven more warriors of rank two evolution. The Half Wolf Corps reached thirty seven members! Leaving out the five fighters sent with Buno, there were thirty two left!

As they all stood together they no longer seemed like a small team, but gave the impression of an army. Lynn was immensely satisfied. The new wine still had to be brewed and some of the villagers were busy weeding the fields, while others were cutting down wood. Before the incoming wave, the village would not expand. If the fortifications were not completed on time, the village would see some destruction. That would be a failure. Lynn still ordered the villagers to collect wood for new housing so that after the wave of beasts, he could purchase slaves to increase the town’s population.

Lynn routinely examined the fire mushrooms, and noticed that five of them were almost ripe. He only needed to wait a few more days before taking the spores to continue planting. The greenhouses would have to expand a little more. The cultivation of the magic potions have yet to provide Lynn with any benefits, but their profits would absolutely be higher than wine. They needed to quickly expand the agricultural process. Once Lynn became a magician, he would need a lot of potion nourishment.

In the blink of an eye, three days passed. Lynn succeeded in expanding the regiment to fifty soldiers, with each warrior becoming at least rank three. Once the entire legion evolved more than three times and was equipped with a full set of armor and swords, Lynn could not imagine how powerful they would be. Buno came back on schedule, but without a caravan. Lynn knew that something was wrong and did not ask about the materials.

”Uncle Buno, are you alright?” Lynn asked first.

”I am alright,” Buno said, moved. “And I brought some supplies back. Unfortunately, they would not sell weapons to us. They said that they were not allowed to sell weapons to other Lords at will, as per their Lord’s instructions.”

”Does someone not want us to buy their weapons?” Lynn asked. Buno nodded with a grave look.

”If I am not wrong, it is the command of the Lord Sla, Ino Sla. I have heard some news, and it seems that he is very dissatisfied with you.”

”Okay,” Lynn said, not surprised. “I will remember the name. He will pay for his actions.”

”Without armor, our soldiers will be killed and wounded,” Buno replied sadly.

Lynn thought about it for a moment and came up with a battle plan.

“It does not matter. I know how to solve this problem. I am going to write a letter to Theresa.”
