The Moon has Awakened

Chapter 15: The Moon Has Awakened

Chapter 15

"Hugo! Come here child, you did very well!" Donella praised. A tear of fury burned down Hugo's cheek as he slowly walked toward his master. "Awe.. Does Hugo not want his little game to end?" Donella teased him in a baby voice. Hugo clenched his teeth as Donella tried to put her hand on his shoulder and he slapped it hard. "No! Get away from me!" He shouted. "What?? Is this the thanks I get for.." Donella tried to protest but Hugo stood his ground and argued, "For WHAT?! For taking me in? Raising me? Saving my life?? Well, I don't need you anymore Donella! Sure, I'm grateful that you gave me a home, but that doesn't mean you gave me love! I have always just been your mannequin, but you are not my puppet queen, so this is me snapping the strings and this is my goodbye!" Donella was shocked at the boy, emotions had made Hugo stronger. "Fine!" She snarled, "Go live on the streets once again, because you're now alone, but know this, I did give you love, which was through my pride!" Hugo retorted, "You call that LOVE?! You never really cared, you just hated to be alone!" Donella froze hearing that, it was exactly what Ulla told her before her sanity broke, leading to her banishment. Donella scowled at the boy and stormed from the scene, thinking of her and Ulla. Hugo then broke down sobbing, overwhelmed by sorrow.

IN THE LIBRARY..

Varian leaned his back against a book shelf as he wept uncontrollably, the pain stinging like a wasp. Then, he heard a soothing, graceful, cheery voice say, "Varian.." He stopped crying as he looked up at the empty space, and saw a woman with ginger hair, blue eyes just like Varian's and she wore a slightly torn dark green and grayish teal dress. It was Varian's mother, Ulla. "Mom??" He asked. "Son, I missed you so so much, I'm sorry I could never be there.." She said gently. He smiled as he ran to hug her, of which she accepted. "I knew Father was wrong, she is the same person she used to be before she was trapped, graceful and pure." Varian thought to himself as he continued to embrace Ulla. Ulla put her hands over Varian's shoulders as they pulled out of the hug and smiled at each other fondly. But Ulla's smirk slowly became something dark as she began to laugh, "Well, now with you here, I can be there with you until the end.. which should be soon.." She told him. "What are you talking about, why would the end be near??" Varian asked suspiciously. Ulla laughed louder as magic glowed from both her hands and she backed up with that vicious grin on her face. Black rocks began to encase Varian as he shouted in pain. "Ah! W-What are you doing?!" He demanded fearfully as light blue electric energy crackled around him, levitating him into the air. "I'm awakening you Moonlight, you are the personification of the Moonstone, and with it being the Full Blue Moon, it's time you awaken on the 16th anniversary of my banishment, and it'd be fitting to return that day as well." She explained. "What?! No, that's impossible, I am not the Moonstone, Cassandra was!" Varian protested. "No child, Cassandra STOLE the Moonstone, that never meant she was it's heir, you are the rightful embodiment." Ulla told him. Her ghost then entered with the magic as the Black Rock ate his body alive, the agony and regret of it all, he just wanted Hugo.. Then, a voice Varian never thought he'd hear again echoed through the library, his father, Quirin. "Son?! Where are you?!" He called out. "D-Dad!" Varian cried out as Quirin came around the corner of the book shelf, seeing his son awakening. "Varian! What's happening to you?!" He demanded. "You were right, D-Dad.. Mother is evil, there's no time to e-explain, just get a boy was blond hair, black glasses and emerald eyes, p-please, I need to see him before, ah!" Varian choked out tearfully. "But son.." Quirin started. "Please! Go, now!" Varian protested. Quirin ran out as Varian struggled to fight the awakening, the pain almost unbearable. Varian tried to gasp for air as the Black Rock engulfed him, both eyes now completely blue and the rock freezing his head. He believed he was dying, but even though he thought he would, he didn't want to leave, not yet.. He just.. Needed.. To hold.. On. And the Black Rock consumed him as he cried out one last word, Hugo.. TO BE CONTINUED
