The Messenger of Death

Chapter 336: sea horse iv

It was the night before they crossed the no-fly zone, Argus was watching all of them from a distance, well aware that with the presence of a Heaven realm cultivator, the difficulty of passing the sea will reduce significantly.

Argus who has been watching over Xander from the sky for the past few days was conflicted by his thoughts. He was wondering if he should allow the prisoners to make it to the island – Xander he could allow, but the decision concerning the prisoners was what gave his mind conflict.

"If I stealthily kill some of them before they make it to the island, it would be alright, right? After all, they are all criminals. But if I have to do this in the name of justice, I would have to kill Alexander too cause in this case, he is also a criminal.

If not for who his mater is, I wouldn't even be here wasting my time guarding the talented kid." Argus pinched his nose for a short while before shaking his head and sighing.

This was a conflict between his decisions and his values, he couldn't kill the prisoners in the name of justice and still claim that he had done justice without including Alexander in the kill list too.

"Forget about it, the thought of this will just give me a headache. I will let them be, if they can survive the attacks of the monsters in the sea and make it to the island safely, then it would be their fortune. When they make it to the Ordain plain realm and decide that they still want to be criminals, they will either die or become prisoners of the Ordain plain realm." Argus dismissed the thought of killing the prisoners.

"What I still can't figure out is what this boy wants to do on that island… I don't think there's anything special on the island, except the opening to the Ordain plain realm. I and the Headmaster have already searched everywhere on the island. Alexander said that he's not going there for the opening, then what else is he going there for?

Is it possible that Miss Natalia told him something about the island? However, that is unlikely. If she did tell him something that we are not aware of, he wouldn't have to take this route to get to whatever he's looking for… on the other hand, common sense doesn't apply to both the master and the disciple. I will just stick to watching over the kid for now." Argus decided…

On the morning that Xander and the prisoners passed the benchmark and entered the no-fly zone, Argus look at the sea, and a little smirk was present on his lips.

He had recalled the first time that he and the Headmaster attempted to cross this sea. The Headmaster had just made it to the Spirit Awakening realm and they were still considered to be youngsters, way before the Headmaster had his son.

They too fell into the sea, unaware that there was a natural no-fly rule after the benchmark. With the principal present, none of the monsters here were able to give them any trouble, even as they were in the water. Argus and the Headmaster went out of the no-fly zone to find a solution for this predicament that they stumbled upon. And after months of trying different methods, they finally found a way to bypass the rule of the no-fly zone.

The smirk on Argus's face widened a bit before he passed the benchmark. After passing the benchmark, he was still able to keep himself in the air, unaffected by the rule in the no-fly zone. Just as he had been doing, he followed behind Xander's ship.

He was the first to notice the sea horses that were beneath the water, and when one of them shot out of the water, aiming to land on the ship that Xander was on, Argus skillfully controlled the wind, using it to make the sea horse glide and miss all the ships.

"These guys have gotten bigger than I recall," He commented.

Argus patiently watched the battle between the prisoners and sea horses, but most of his attention was on Xander. When he saw Xander assisting the prisoners, he started wondering if Xander was a kind person by nature, oblivious to the real reason why Xander didn't want them to die yet.

When Argus saw Xander remove a green HD-EC from his storage ring, he felt a little pang of jealousy, not because Xander had an energy stone of that caliber, but because he thought Nana was spoiling Alexander with treasures and things that people couldn't normally get their hands on while they're in the Lower plain realm.

Argus waved this thought away and started to wonder why Xander brought out a green HD-EC while he had been supporting the prisoners.

"Is he planning on absorbing the green HD-EC? This kid must be out of his mind! The core of a Nirvana realm cultivator wouldn't be able to take the density of the QI in that crystal, his body might burst apart… even I would be careful not to absorb the energy within a high-density green energy crystal."

While thinking of what Xander was possibly planning to do with the energy crystal, Xander started absorbing the crystal. "My God! This child is suicidal!" Argus bellowed, angry at the daring Xander.

He was about to make a move to stop Xander and also help kill the rest of the sea horses when he felt the bone-chilling QI coming from the huge snowflake. "What the? This looks like something Natalie would have taught him." Argus muttered and stopped in his tracks.

It was after calming down that he was able to figure out that Xander wasn't actually absorbing the energy from the crystal into his core, instead, he was serving as a conduit between the snowflake and energy crystal.

"Like this he's not in danger of dying, maybe losing his arms, but those could be replaced after getting treated by a professional healer. I will wait a bit." Argus decided and based his decision on his curiosity. He wanted to know how effective the attack would be on the sea horses.

-Boom!!

A cold breeze blew on Argus, "It's quite cold," He uttered with a frown. "If this is how strong this attack is from the disciple, how terrifying would it be from the master who can properly utilize a purple energy crystal?" Argus pondered.

Argus then glanced at the injured Xander. "This boy should be able to stomach this much pain." He muttered and looked at the frozen sea horses. "There is a monster being raised in the academy and we didn't even know," Argus said.

The prisoners were destroying the frozen sea horses as fast as they could, and this time, it only took two hits from each Sky realm cultivator to destroy the ice figure of a single sea horse.

Scar made his way to where Kymani was…

"What is it?" Kymani asked when she noticed his presence behind her.

"I want to strike a deal with that boy." Scar went straight to the point.

"A deal? And what do you have to offer him in return?" Kymani could guess what Scar wanted from Xander. After seeing him with a green HD-EC, everyone had concluded that Xander was a wealthy person.

"What exactly did you offer him?" Scar questioned.

"I didn't really make any offer, he was the one that said that he would give me what I wanted if I agree to sign a contract that I will never betray him, and that I would become his bodyguard… I have to warn you though, that contract is bound by the laws of the world and is written in runic language. If you manage to convince him to strike this deal, do know that you cannot go against the conditions of the contract." Kymani mentioned.

"Then why did you agree to sign the contract?"

"He told me that he has no intention of going to the Ordain plain realm with us, he just wants to get to the island as fast as he can," Kymani replied.

"What, why? What did you tell him was on the island?"

"I didn't tell him nothing but the opening to a higher plain realm and the expert that Ruberg and the rest reported to us. I didn't even tell him the location of the island, he figured that on his own… I guess." Kymani wondered if she should speak about the person that was protecting Xander in the shadows.

'Come to think of it, why didn't his protector intervene? Was he or she even able to make it past the no-fly zone? Or did Alexander ask this person not to show up unless he calls for it?' Kymani wondered.

Scar was deep in his thoughts and after a few minutes he spoke up. "If he's not going to the Ordain plain realm with us, then that would mean that we would be parting ways. We might never meet again after leaving. The contract will be nullified by default because we will have no opportunity to betray whom we can't see or contact. I will sign the contract if he agrees to make a deal with me." Scar said…
