Chapter 86: Beast Breeding Competition (3)
Holy Weapons and Magic Treasures are bound in the same way: a drop of blood is all it takes.
As his blood seeped in, information about the Vajra Lock's abilities flooded Chen Jiuge's mind.
Locking Heaven and Earth: It could lock anything in existence, whether tangible or intangible. Of course, the upper limit of this ability depended primarily on the host's own Cultivation.
Chen Jiuge was very satisfied with this ability. This excellent control skill was perfect for a Beast Master, making him even more formidable.
After completing his business with the Azure Dragon, no other Divine Beasts had come calling. Moreover, with the Beast Breeding Competition officially starting tomorrow, Chen Jiuge planned to rest and conserve his energy.
The official Beast Breeding Competition differed from the preliminary selection. Each Disciple who successfully passed the preliminary selection would be assigned a booth, or rather, an exhibition stand.
Chen Jiuge was naturally assigned one as well. Its location was quite good, situated at the center of the northern area. It seems my Silver King scored quite highly in the preliminaries, he thought.
The subsequent rankings in the Beast Breeding Competition would be determined by the sales figures of the competing Spiritual Beasts.
To prevent cheating, Disciples from prominent families faced certain restrictions. For instance, purchases made by members of the same family would no longer count toward their sales total after a certain quantity, which made things relatively fair.
After placing Silver King on the exhibition stand, Chen Jiuge pondered for a long time over the wording for its introductory sign before finally picking up his brush to write.
The Yan Family ruled an Immortal City under the Myriad Beasts Sect and even had a True Immortal ancestor. As the Young Master of the Yan Family, Yan Bei naturally basked in glory after passing the Myriad Beasts Sect's assessment.
As the most talented genius of the Yan Family, Yan Bei was naturally very proud. With a Seventh Rank Bloodline Northern Sea Eagle cub provided by his family, he had earned a considerable reputation in the Outer Sect. This continued until he joined Flying Fish Peak in the Inner Sect.
The Northern Sea Eagle, in which he had placed such high hopes, was repeatedly defeated by the Flying Fish, earning him no praise, only endless ridicule.
In terms of family background, he was merely the Young Master of a third-rate family and couldn't compare. In terms of strength, he was no match for those Inner Sect Disciples. He himself had languished for hundreds of years before barely breaking through to the Divinity Transformation realm.
Yan Bei hoped to use this Beast Breeding Competition to acquire a powerful Spiritual Beast and turn his fortunes around. If things continued this way, he feared his family might cease their support.
"Aren't there supposed to be all kinds of high-quality Spiritual Beasts in the Beast Breeding Competition? Why haven't I seen a single Eagle-type Spiritual Beast after searching for so long?" Yan Bei complained.
Then, Yan Bei's eyes fell upon the magnificent Silver King on Chen Jiuge's display stand.
Approaching, he saw two large characters written at the top of the sign: "Mutant."
Chen Jiuge had been bored for an entire hour; not a single person had come to inquire. They all said the Beast Breeding Competition would be bustling and Spiritual Beasts would sell easily, didn't they?
Muttering to himself, Chen Jiuge suddenly noticed a rather dejected-looking young man approach his display stand, his gaze fixed on Silver King.
Chen Jiuge's eyes brightened as he said, "Brother, this is a Silver Iron Eagle I've cultivated. It has a Mutant Seventh Rank Bloodline. Are you interested?"
"A Mutant Seventh Rank Bloodline?" Yan Bei was somewhat incredulous. The person before him was only at the Divinity Transformation realm. To think he could cultivate a Seventh Rank Bloodline Spiritual Beast was already impressive, let alone a *mutant* Seventh Rank Bloodline—it sounded utterly unbelievable.
Afraid this potential customer might walk away, Chen Jiuge quickly picked up the Sect-issued Mirage Dragon Mirror. "Brother, you can use the Mirage Dragon Mirror to verify its abilities."
Yan Bei hesitated but eventually agreed.
Yan Bei summoned his Northern Sea Eagle and projected its image into the Mirage Dragon Mirror. Chen Jiuge did the same with Silver King. A fierce battle instantly unfolded within the mirror—or more accurately, a one-sided slaughter where Silver King decimated the Northern Sea Eagle.
Watching his Northern Sea Eagle get its head slammed down by Silver King the moment it tried to fly, Yan Bei's jaw nearly hit the floor.
Though the Northern Sea Eagle's name was common, it was definitely not weak among Seventh Rank Bloodline Spiritual Beasts, ranking at least mid to low-tier. Are Mutant Spiritual Beasts really this powerful?
The battle in the Mirage Dragon Mirror ended quickly.
Chen Jiuge looked at Yan Bei, whose face was flushed red, and asked, "Brother, what do you think?"
"This one—is it for sale? I want it! How many Spirit Stones? Merit Points are fine too!" Yan Bei exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
"Brother, this one is not for sale," Chen Jiuge stated. "The Silver Iron Eagles are a species, and Silver King is their monarch. He cannot be sold."
Yan Bei's face fell with disappointment. So, it's a Beast King. No wonder its combat strength is so outrageous.
"Then, do the other Silver Iron Eagles possess similar strength?" Yan Bei still clung to a sliver of hope.
"They're not much different. You can use the Mirage Dragon Mirror to test them first, then decide if you want to buy," Chen Jiuge said with a smile.
With his Cultivation improvement a few days prior, Chen Jiuge had once again enhanced the Bloodlines of the Silver Iron Eagles in his Spiritual Beast Bag. Several Silver Iron Eagles that were originally at the peak of the Sixth Rank Bloodline broke through to the Seventh Rank. Even if they weren't as strong as Silver King, they could still easily defeat that Northern Sea Eagle.
Chen Jiuge took out three Silver Iron Eagles from his Spiritual Beast Bag and projected their images onto the Mirage Dragon Mirror. As Yan Bei watched the ensuing battles, his expression grew increasingly excited.
Thirty minutes later, Yan Bei slapped his Storage Ring onto the display stand and declared, "Brother, I'll take them all!"
Business was here! Chen Jiuge was ecstatic, but procedures still had to be followed. After counting the Spirit Stones, it was a pity that Brother Yan Bei could only afford two Silver Iron Eagles.
Yan Bei took the two Silver Iron Eagles he felt were the strongest, and with that, Chen Jiuge had finally made his first sale.
He had expected business to come pouring in after this, but unexpectedly, his stall fell quiet once more.
Bored, Chen Jiuge left a Communication Talisman at his display stand and decided to go see how other Fellow Daoists were making sales.
Finding a bustling stall, Chen Jiuge waited a long time for his turn.
The stall owner was a portly man whose smile resembled Maitreya Buddha's. He began with, "Fellow Daoist, how many Super Chefs do you need?"
"Super Chefs?" Chen Jiuge was somewhat confused.
Seeing that this customer was clueless, the portly stall owner promptly produced a Mirage Dragon Mirror.
Inside the mirror, a giant ape with eight arms skillfully juggled tasks between several large woks. In just a quarter of an hour, a full banquet of dishes, vibrant in color, fragrant in aroma, and delectable in taste, appeared.
At the end, the Mirage Dragon Mirror displayed an evaluation: "Fourth Rank Spirit Chef."
"So, this is genuinely a Super Chef?" Chen Jiuge asked in disbelief.
"What else could it be? You don't expect it to fight, do you? Brother, is this your first time participating in the Beast Breeding Competition?" the portly owner asked, puzzled.
"Isn't this competition about cultivating Spiritual Beasts with potential and talent?" Chen Jiuge countered.
"My Super Chef doesn't have potential? It has a Seventh Rank Bloodline! It doesn't have talent? It's a Fourth Rank Spirit Chef!" the portly owner replied with a beaming smile.
"Brother, don't tell me you cultivated combat-type Spiritual Beasts for the competition?" the stall owner asked, looking at him strangely.
Chen Jiuge nodded.
The stall owner said sympathetically, "If the Grade of the beasts you've cultivated isn't too high, it's manageable. But if it's too high, they won't sell well. Generally, those who come to the Beast Breeding Competition for Spiritual Beasts are mainly Outer Disciples. Inner Sect Disciples, Stewards, and the like usually look for auxiliary-type Spiritual Beasts."
Chen Jiuge was speechless. He turned to leave, then, still bewildered, turned back. "Give me ten Super Chefs. Do you offer delivery?"
The stall owner replied happily, "Certainly, certainly! Just leave an address."
Returning to his own display stand with a gloomy expression, he found it still utterly deserted. Why is the Beast Breeding Competition like this? The elders said Master participated before, didn't they? Why didn't he tell me anything?
