The Magician Child

Chapter 12: Chapter 11

"Yes, Father!"

El responded respectfully.

He also understood how powerful his learning ability was because of the system.

Seeing the look on King Agnarr's face, he couldn't help but smile too.

Then El walked into the room to change clothes.

After putting on his light uniform, he glanced at himself in the mirror.

'Mmm~not bad at all'

A handsome young man in the mirror with light blue, star-like eyes, and silver-white hair made him stand out.

"I'm ready, Father. Let's begin today's training!"

El stepped out and spoke seriously to King Agnarr.

Lately, it seemed like he had hit a wall and couldn't break through. He realized that even his father's guidance was becoming less effective.

After all, the reason he had surpassed those previous instructors wasn't because they were bad teachers, but because they had simply reached the limit of what they could teach him.

Now, even King Agnarr could no longer keep up. Their skill levels weren't that far apart anymore. In fact, thanks to his unique physique from the system, El might even have a slightly better in some ways.

"Hmm~"

King Agnarr opened his eyes.

While El was changing into his outfit, Agnarr was focusing on getting his body into the best possible condition.

He refused to believe that his own son could be stronger than him.

"El, this match will be a test for you."

King Agnarr said, looking at him with a serious expression, "If you pass, you'll be allowed to use magic. If you don't, you still can't. However, no matter the outcome, you must continue your daily training. Even though I can no longer teach you myself, our archives hold the swordsmanship techniques and insights of many great knights. You need to study and practice those well."

King Agnarr watched him intently. He was really curious to see what this kid would become.

"Okay! Let's begin, Father!"

El gripped his wooden sword tightly, assuming his stance, looking just as serious as King Agnarr.

"Good. Let me see how far you've come!"

Agnarr replied, and the two launched into their duel.

In the training arena, the sharp clack of wooden swords colliding echoed again and again.

They had exchanged about ten rounds... well… okay, more like just half an hour.

The two of them stepped apart and stood on opposite sides, holding their wooden swords.

They both tried to look like nothing was wrong, but the sound of heavy breathing under their light armor and sweat made it clear that this fight had been intense.

"Father, let's continue."

El wiped the sweat from his face, his expression filled with determination.

El could tell from the way King Agnarr was getting tired. He knew his father was getting older while he had the peak human body from the system.

"Alright, come at me with everything you've got, let me see your full strength!"

King Agnarr responded, sensing that he too was getting a bit worn out.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"You brat! You're using such a force and won't even give your old man a break?"

King Agnarr muttered, staring at him with a mix of frustration and playfulness while he continued to fight back.

They exchanged blows that went on for an hour. In the end, El purposely made an obvious opening so King Agnarr could win and knock him down.

After all, El still had to let his father save face.

"Hmm, you have made quite a lot of progress, not bad at all. But you're still a little bit behind your old man's level."

King Agnarr laughed heartily, "I can tell you did that on purpose, El."

He noticed that El had let him win, but he wasn't embarrassed. He said these words with a calm face, making it seem like he was praising him, but he was really just praising himself.

"Ha ha... My son is just amazing, haha!"

King Agnarr continued to boast, reveling in his own praise. El, however, didn't interrupt. He simply gave him a death stare, silently watching him.

Even someone as thick-skinned as King Agnarr couldn't take it anymore.

"I'm very happy with today's duel. It'll be up to you starting tomorrow. There's nothing more I can teach you. I'll have some books sent over tomorrow."

King Agnarr said, his tone serious but carrying a hint of pride.

El smiled, but he couldn't help noticing that his father's ears were slightly red.

Seeing his father look embarrassed made him feel really good. It was rare to see his father like this because King Agnarr usually looked serious, but today was different.

"Hmm, I won't restrict you from using magic anymore, but still, be careful."

King Agnarr's voice came from inside the room just before the door closed.

El rolled his eyes.

'I had already been able to use magic.'

He then walked into his own room, ready to wash off the sweat from the duel before heading to the dining hall for dinner.
