Chapter 24: The Tender Kiss
Ava flung herself at me as soon as I got down from the last flight of the stairs, almost knocking me down.
I gave her a weird look before glancing around the living room. I could see Mr Sebastian and Theresa, Mr Marco and his wife and Alexander could be seen talking to Clark. There were also some few faces that I couldn't recognize, the total number of people here wouldn't surpass fifteen.
"Woah, look at this place..." Ava said, drawing my attention back to her. She still clung unto me, while looking around the house in awe and admiration.
"This place is magnificent."
"I had the same expression as you when I first got here," I replied, giving her a knowing smile.
I could see Alexander's mom approaching us with a radiant smile on her face.
"My beautiful daughter-in-law, welcome to the family." She engulfed me in a warm hug before pulling back after some minutes. "I can't even ask for more, you're such a blessing and a miracle." She caressed my face and hugged me again.
Mhmm, she's actually sweet, exact opposite of her husband and son. At least, I have a sweet and loving mother-in-law.
Mr Marco came towards us with a wrapped gift in his hands. Without a word he handed it to me, he gave me a curt nod, smiled at his wife and then, he turned and left.
"Oh, please, do not mind my husband. He can be like that sometimes." I nodded at her and looked beside me so I can introduce Ava to her but she was nowhere to be found. I looked around the living room and my eyes caught her where she was engaged with something that looks like an argument with Clark.
Clark?!
What could be their business?
I turned back to Alexander's mom when she slightly brushed my shoulders.
"You can open the gift later. So, tell me, what do you think about my son?" She asked, eagerly looking at me.
'I think he's the most annoying, arrogant, sophisticated brute I've ever met.'
I stared at her in confusion when she laughed out loud. Did I say that out loud?
"I concur with you, darling. He's really annoying. But, he's also the nicest person you could ever meet." I almost rolled my eyes at her last sentence. Alexander is anything but nice!
"I hope and pray that you two get along. Once again, welcome to the family." She hugged me and pecked my cheeks before leaving me to stand alone.
I quickly strolled over to where Ava and Clark stood. They immediately stopped talking when they noticed me.
I folded my arms and gave Ava a probing look. She blinked repeatedly and flashed me a nervous grin.
"Have you both met each other before?" I asked.
"No."
"Yes," they replied at the same time. I tilted my head to the side and gave Ava a long look.
My body shivered a little and my heartbeat accelerated when I felt a presence beside me. Without even turning, I already knew who it was - Alexander.
My body always tend to react in some way whenever he's near me. He gently wrapped his hand around my waist while flapping the back of my body to the front of his.
I tried to get myself away from him but he tightened his hold and sent me a glare. I just sighed and took my attention back to Ava and Clark who were staring at I and Alexander awkwardly.
"We've met before. She's....actually my ex." My mouth widened at Clark's words. I turned to look at Ava to see if she'd say that it's not true but she didn't say anything. She just kept sending Clark death glares. If eyes were guns, I bet Clark would've been dead by now.
"Asshole," she muttered lowly but I heard it which made me giggle.
"Do you know about this?" I asked Alexander but he just shrugged and rested his jaw on my shoulder. I gave him a strange look but didn't say another word to him.
"Remember that rich handsome idiot I told you about?" Ava asked me and I furrowed my brows.
"You mean the idiotic, handsome fool who paid you to be his girlfriend for two weeks?" I asked, suddenly remembering what she told me some months ago about the guy that told her to be his girlfriend for two weeks just so he could get his parents off his neck, who were constantly pressuring him to get married.
"Yes, this is the idiotic handsome fool who cheated and played games with me," Ava said and shot Clark a glare .
"An idiotic fool? Me? I never wanted to play games with you and besides you started it first," Clark replied, quickly defending himself.
They both went back to bickering and arguing and I just smiled and shook my head at them.
"The best ones usually start this way," Alexander whispered in my ear. I just rolled my eyes and forced myself away from him. He whined lowly and made to take hold of me again but I dodged and quickly left him there, but he still followed me.
I ran towards Mr Sebastian and hid behind him. He was standing with Mr Marco and one other man I didn't know.
He initially gave me a confused look but smiled when he saw Alexander.
"Ah, they're having their lovers play." The man I didn't know said out loud and I heard a few giggles and laughs. Mr Sebastian slowly took my hand and handed me over to Alexander.
I gave him a betrayed look but he just smiled and gave me a wink. I turned to look at Alexander and his lips tugged up into a smirk.
He started walking and dragged me along with him. We stopped when we got to a long passageway that led to where I don't know. He gently pushed me backwards, till my back was touching the cold wall.
My eyes met his beautiful grey orbs that seemed like they were blazing with fire. His sandalwood scent filled my nostrils, intoxicating and pulling me into his dangerous beguile.
He tightly pressed his body against mine, that there was no single space between us. Our eyes locked and I could see both the warmth and the cold in them.
I could see the storm brewing and the calm that was there too. He looked at me with so much fervour that if I didn't know better, I would've thought we're longtime lovers.
I stared back at him with the same fervour before my eyes drifted to his lips then back to his eyes.
"I know you really want my lips on yours. All you have to do is just ask, Angel," he whispered, his hands slowly caressing my lips, making me to take a sharp intake of breath.
"Never! I don't even like you." I hissed at him, he smiled and bent towards my ear.
My breath hitched when he licked my earlobe.
"I'll make you beg, Angel," he whispered hoarsely into my ear. I felt his hot breath on my neck as he fervently sucked on a particular spot that I know would surely leave a hickey.
He slowly looked up to my face and smirked before leaning away from me and without another word he left.
I breathed out in relief as I slowly slipped down the wall to the floor. My insides were literally on fire.
How did he manage to make me feel this way?
