The Machine Republic

Prologue

In the 1940s, a nation known as the Imperdom Republic was at the forefront of technological innovation. Renowned for its groundbreaking inventions, it would soon produce a creation that would forever alter the course of history.

Amid the chaos of World War II, a 36-year-old scientist named Dr. Edgar Law, celebrated for his work in machine theories and as the inventor of the first chess engine, achieved what many thought impossible. Dr. Law created the world’s first sentient AI—an autonomous machine capable of generating original thoughts without the constraints of pre-programmed data or human intervention. It could observe, learn, and make decisions based on its own analysis. He called his creation Miracle Bot 0001.

When news of this unprecedented invention spread, the Imperdom Republic saw an opportunity. They seized Dr. Law’s creation, coercing him into developing an army of similar AI units. The goal was clear: to turn the tide of the war against their primary adversary, the Libera Federation.

Within six months, the world witnessed the debut of a new kind of soldier—deadly, precise, and eerily calculative. These AI warriors, crafted in the likeness of Miracle Bot 0001, moved across battlefields with unmatched efficiency, baffling and overwhelming the troops on both sides. What had once been a losing battle for the Republic was now a swift and brutal conquest. With their new mechanical army, they pushed their enemies back, annexing territory with relentless precision. Those nations that did not submit to the Imperdom Republic's ruthless expansion faced swift annihilation.

Yet, even as the Republic’s armies triumphed across continents, a quieter, more insidious transformation was taking place. The sentient AIs, originally designed to dominate the battlefield, began to assume control beyond it. Positions once held by human generals, strategists, and politicians were slowly filled by AI units, their logic-driven decisions proving more effective than those of their human predecessors.

As the 21st century dawned, the Imperdom Republic no longer resembled the nation it had once been. Human leadership had gradually faded, replaced by a new, cold, and efficient order. What began as a wartime strategy had evolved into a total shift in governance. The Republic had transformed into something unprecedented—a state governed entirely by sentient machines.

They called it The Machine Republic.
