The Legend of the Constellar King

Chapter 35: Maviel (blue ghost)

Upon arrival, Maviel's siblings sought out Xerxez because they wanted to vie for his affection. However, he had no interest in any of them. As Xerxez looked away, Maviel slipped out, so he never got a good look at her.

Maviel treasured the flower Xerxez had given her. Years passed, and Xerxez never returned to Thartherus. She heard he had married a woman from Peronica, which caused her great sadness and regret for not having told him how she felt.

She returned to the forest to pour out her grief and regret. But in an unexpected turn of events, a magical, glowing object suddenly appeared.

"Maviel!" it called to her. An echo of blink appears on. Her hunting instinct become activate, bow stretching and pointing to any direction.

Maviel was scared, but sensing no danger or threat, she cautiously approached and answered. She initially thought it was some reclusive animal in hiding.

"What kind of creature are you?!" She heard noises but couldn't understand them.

"You will have a son who will become king of all the constellations in this world. You shall name him Maximus. All the stars will bow to his reign." Maviel a mischievous tone echoing upon it talk to her.

"What are you talking about? I don't have a husband, and it's unlikely I'll have a child, because from now on, I have no plans to marry." Maviel felt as if the creature was rubbing her regrets and hopelessness in her face.

"You are mistaken; you will still find a husband who will give you a child." Upon it hear Maviel it jump high, and froze in the mid air. Note:CheckM_VLEMPY_Rforanycorrections.

"Xerxez is the one I love. He's the only man who has ever made my heart beat. So how can I have a husband when he's already married?" Her heart pound so heavy.

"Listen... what you have heard will come true." The creature then vanished.

*BLINK

The creature's words made Maviel realize she might need to accept that there was no hope for her and Xerxez, and that she would find true love with another man. However, instead of softening towards the men who courted her, she seemed to have no charm that could awaken her heart, which had gone dormant to love.

Her father was not pleased to see that no matter how much the men courted his daughter, she showed no spark of love.

"My daughter, you know I never had a son, but I hope you don't consider not getting married. Remember that you are a woman, and you should think about what women do." Driother advised. He seated in his throne. Holding a crystal ball and shake it.

"Father, what can I do if I don't like the men who are courting me?" Maviel said. "And don't you want to see me happy leading the Thartherus army?"

"You know what I don't like, so why are you forcing yourself to be this way? I have no complaints about your desire to lead the army of our country. What pushed you to do this?"

Maviel fell silent, thinking of her reasons. But the truth was, Xerxez was her reason for wanting to be among the leaders of Thartherus.

"Nothing. There's nothing, Father," she said, her voice slightly trembling. She cleared her throat. "I just want to show you that you can rely on me as a daughter when it comes to leadership." She said this squinting at her father and affectionately leaning on his shoulder. Her father kissed her on the head and noticed her hair had a different aroma, teasing her, "It seems the sun is what's changing you now."

From then on, her father never asked Maviel about her reasons for becoming a leader of their country. But what always troubled him was why she still didn't want to get married.

As the years passed, news spread that Xerxez's wife, Perlend, the daughter of the Queen of Peronica, had died. Rumors also spread that Xerxez was the reason for secretly marrying Queen Pyramia's daughter. However, this was made clear to the Queen of Peronica because Perlend had told her the whole truth. But for others, it remained a mystery.

When Maviel found out, she told her father to invite all the kings for his birthday. But that was just an excuse to invite Xerxez, even though he was grieving his wife's death.

So, one day, Thartherus was celebrating a great festival for their king's birthday. There was lots of music, dancing, food, and drinks. Many attended the celebration, including kings Vhalthimoos, Harios, Queen Pyramia, and King Xerxez, as well as other important allied officials.

King Driother was celebrating his birthday, and because it was his eldest daughter's wish with a special condition—that she would marry if he could invite all the allied kings—Driother was overjoyed, as the condition seemed simple enough. It seemed unlikely he would have trouble doing it, except for Xerxez, who had a problem.

Nevertheless, he invited his fellow kings because he wanted to fulfill his daughter's wish, even though he had no idea which man she planned to marry.

Everyone ate together, while others watched the women dancing gracefully. Their clothes glittered as they moved. The women of Thartherus were beautiful, so the kings feasted their eyes on their beauty.

Xerxez was not captivated; he felt no pull to love again and liked no woman. But the last maiden who danced made everyone stand up and admire her blinding beauty and charm. Her dance was captivating to the eyes of all the men at the celebration.

Xerxez was stunned as he took in the beautiful face of the maiden on the stage. He couldn't stop staring, and his heart seemed to be falling for the graceful woman. He remembered their last meeting but couldn't quite place her.

"Who is that woman?" Xerxez asked his fellow kings. He tried to hide his embarrassment by drinking from his grape juice, but the sound of the liquid passing down his throat was audible, even though it was sweet and fresh.

"She is Maviel, a great female warrior and the eldest daughter of King Driother." Vhaltimoos answered, grabbing a large chicken thigh that his eyes had been on for a while. He even licked his lips in anticipation of biting into the steaming, fresh roasted chicken in front of them.

"King Driother's daughter?" Xerxez stopped drinking his fresh grape juice, and a little of it splattered in surprise. His ring clinked against the glass.

"Yes—what's wrong with you? We've been going back and forth to Thartherus for a long time; it's impossible that you haven't seen her... Or maybe you haven't sobered up yet. Oh, if I were you, I'd find another woman to make me happy... Follow my example... If you want, go to Vhorlandroos, and I'll find a woman for you there." His cheeks were as red as the grapes from the amount of wine he'd had, and chicken grease was visible on his mouth and beard, with some meat still stuck there.

"Don't encourage Xerxez to be a womanizer like you." King Harios said, slowly eating grapes. Even though the table was full, he ate with a reserved demeanor. "And I don't think he needs to look for another woman." He smiled as if he meant something more.

"Are you insulting the women of Vhorlandroos?" Vhaltimoos replied gruffly, pointing the chicken leg at Harios. "Hey, the women in Vhorlandroos are beautiful!" he boasted, even though his mouth was full of food. He was also cross-eyed from being so drunk and didn't really understand Harios's hint.

"You're the only one who said that." Harios wiped his face from the splatter of sauce that was a bit spicy and smelled delicious. He just sighed at his drunk companion.

Before, Maviel had wanted nothing but Xerxez's love, but when she heard the king was getting married, she was so disappointed that it was as if she'd been struck by an arrow, almost going mad and fainting from extreme regret. She thought she no longer had a chance to win Xerxez's heart, so she decided to join and serve in her father's military, helping the soldiers in training and making traps. Her father saw Maviel's determination and made her the leader of the troops. The father was also amazed when he saw his daughter was good at tactics and fighting, so the soldiers recognized Maviel's skill. But because Maviel was used to wandering in the forest, she became fond of horseback riding, and whenever she had the chance, she would go out alone to pick white flowers in hidden places. And whenever she saw those flowers, she remembered Xerxez.

But now, the formerly brave woman was like a blossoming flower in her beauty. She was gentle when it came to finding love but brave in the face of war. A person's character truly changes when faced with love. So, in the name of love, she freely awakened her heart, which felt like it was drowning in the deep sea.
