Chapter 18: THE LEGACY OF THE OLD BLOOD
EXT. AJILOMI VILLAGE – DAWN
The sun rises slowly, casting a golden glow over the village.
But Ajilomi is not at peace.
The battle may be over, but the whispers of fear remain.
The people whisper about what they saw.
About Akin.
About the power he unleashed.
Some call it a blessing. Others call it a curse.
Akin stands alone outside the palace, staring at his hands.
The energy from the battle still lingers inside him.
It feels foreign. Unnatural.
But also… familiar.
INT. AJILOMI PALACE – OGUNLAJA'S CHAMBER
Ogunlaja sits on his throne, deep in thought.
His advisors stand before him, their faces filled with concern.
CHIEF ELDER
"The people are afraid. They saw something… beyond human."
Ogunlaja's fingers tap against the armrest.
OGUNLAJA
"I saw it too."
The room falls silent.
One of the war chiefs steps forward.
WAR CHIEF
"What if the Keepers were right? What if he is not meant to exist?"
Ogunlaja's eyes darken.
He rises to his feet.
OGUNLAJA
"Akin is of Ajilomi. He fought for Ajilomi. That is all that matters."
The war chief bows slightly, but his face remains troubled.
CHIEF ELDER
"But what if his power brings more danger?"
Ogunlaja turns toward the window, looking at the village.
OGUNLAJA
"Then we must prepare him for it."
EXT. AJILOMI TRAINING GROUNDS – LATER
Akin stands before Ogunlaja.
The warriors of Ajilomi surround them, watching in silence.
Ogunlaja draws his sword.
Akin hesitates.
AKIN
"You want me to fight you?"
Ogunlaja nods.
OGUNLAJA
"If you wish to understand your power, you must first learn to control it."
Akin tightens his grip on his weapon.
He takes a deep breath—
And lunges.
The fight begins.
EXT. AJILOMI TRAINING GROUNDS – AKIN VS. OGUNLAJA
Ogunlaja moves like a shadow, dodging Akin's strikes with effortless precision.
Akin is faster than before. Stronger.
But Ogunlaja is a warrior of experience.
He sees every attack before it comes.
He counters ruthlessly, striking Akin's arm, his legs—never with killing intent, but always with purpose.
Akin grits his teeth.
He feels the whispers in his mind, urging him to let go.
To unleash everything.
For a moment, he hesitates.
Then—
He obeys.
A shockwave of power bursts from his body, forcing Ogunlaja to step back.
Akin moves—too fast for the eye to follow.
He strikes.
Ogunlaja barely dodges—his armor cracks from the force.
The warriors gasp in shock.
Ogunlaja narrows his eyes.
Then—
He smiles.
OGUNLAJA
"Good."
He raises his sword—and attacks.
A fierce battle erupts, faster and deadlier than before.
Akin is holding his own.
But he is not winning.
EXT. AJILOMI TRAINING GROUNDS – THE FALL
Akin swings.
Ogunlaja sidesteps effortlessly—
And strikes Akin in the chest.
Akin falls to his knees, gasping for breath.
The world spins.
His body feels heavy.
Ogunlaja lowers his sword.
OGUNLAJA
"Power without control is a weapon against yourself."
Akin looks up, breathing hard.
Ogunlaja extends a hand.
Akin takes it.
OGUNLAJA
"You are strong, but strength alone is not enough. You must master yourself before you master your enemies."
Akin nods slowly.
He understands now.
This power is a gift—
But also a burden.
And he must learn to carry it.
INT. AJILOMI PALACE – NIGHT
Ogunlaja sits alone, staring at the flames of his torch.
A shadow moves in the doorway.
A figure steps forward—the old seer, Ifarinu.
Ogunlaja looks up.
OGUNLAJA
"You have come."
Ifarinu's voice is low.
IFARINU
"It is time you learned the truth."
Ogunlaja's eyes darken.
OGUNLAJA
"The truth… about Akin?"
Ifarinu nods.
IFARINU
"The truth… about the Old Blood."
INT. AJILOMI PALACE – OGUNLAJA'S CHAMBER – NIGHT
The torchlight flickers. Shadows dance on the walls.
Ogunlaja sits across from Ifarinu, the old seer.
The air is thick with unspoken truths.
Ogunlaja's eyes narrow.
OGUNLAJA
"What do you mean by 'the Old Blood'?"
Ifarinu takes a deep breath.
IFARINU
"Akin is not like other men."
Ogunlaja's jaw tightens.
OGUNLAJA
"I know that already."
Ifarinu shakes his head.
IFARINU
"No. You do not."
Silence.
Ogunlaja leans forward.
OGUNLAJA
"Speak, old man."
Ifarinu closes his eyes, summoning the memories of the past.
Then—
He begins.
EXT. A FORGOTTEN BATTLEFIELD – YEARS AGO (FLASHBACK)
The sky is crimson with fire.
The ground is littered with bodies of warriors.
At the center of the battlefield—
A single man stands.
He is tall, broad-shouldered, his eyes burning like molten gold.
He holds a bloodstained sword.
His presence alone makes the air tremble.
He is not human.
He is something more.
A god's fury in mortal flesh.
This was the last warrior of the Old Blood.
His name was Orunmila's Wrath.
INT. AJILOMI PALACE – PRESENT
Ogunlaja listens silently, his face unreadable.
Ifarinu's voice is low.
IFARINU
"The Old Blood were warriors blessed and cursed by the gods. They were not born… they were created."
Ogunlaja's fingers tighten into fists.
OGUNLAJA
"What does this have to do with Akin?"
Ifarinu exhales slowly.
IFARINU
"Akin is one of them."
Ogunlaja's eyes widen.
OGUNLAJA
"Impossible."
Ifarinu shakes his head.
IFARINU
"His strength. His speed. The way his power awakens in battle. You saw it yourself. You felt it."
Ogunlaja's mind races.
The way Akin fought Arogun.
The inhuman speed.
The unnatural power.
It all makes sense now.
Akin is not just a boy.
He is a relic of an ancient war.
EXT. AJILOMI RIVERBANK – MIDNIGHT
Akin stands alone, staring at his reflection in the water.
His mind is chaos.
Who am I?
He clenches his fists.
The whispers in his head have grown louder.
The power inside him feels alive.
A voice calls out.
IWA
"Akin."
He turns.
Iwa stands behind him, concern in her eyes.
IWA
"You've been different since the battle."
Akin looks away.
AKIN
"I don't know what I am anymore."
Iwa steps closer.
IWA
"You are Akin. That has always been enough."
Akin wants to believe her.
But deep inside—
He knows the truth.
He is changing.
And soon, he may not recognize himself at all.
INT. AJILOMI PALACE – OGUNLAJA'S CHAMBER
Ogunlaja rises from his seat.
He turns to Ifarinu.
OGUNLAJA
"Does he know?"
Ifarinu shakes his head.
IFARINU
"Not yet."
Ogunlaja's face hardens.
OGUNLAJA
"Then he must never find out."
Ifarinu's eyes widen.
IFARINU
"You cannot hide the truth forever."
Ogunlaja clenches his jaw.
OGUNLAJA
"No. But I can try."
He turns toward the window, looking out into the night.
OGUNLAJA
"Akin is not ready for the weight of what he is."
Ifarinu watches him carefully.
IFARINU
"And what will you do… when the truth finds him first?"
Ogunlaja does not answer.
Because deep down—
He knows the truth is coming.
And when it does, it will change everything.
