Chapter 5
5 Witch haters
The next morning I smiled at Ville as if nothing had happened.
“Morning, Ville. No, I can’t. I need to get here a little faster and help with the payroll.”
I’m done eating the breakfast I got delivered to my room, and now I’m just enjoying my after-dinner tea. I’ve already asked the maid of the mansion to step back.
Ville was upset, but she put her hands on her chest and thanked her for the pepper and apology. I guess you reflected on the fact that you yelled at me yesterday.
Ville became a squire to get proof that I was an ‘evil witch’. It doesn’t make sense if you’re fired right away. He noticed he couldn’t pull out the information without being a little submissive. I mean, I’m not gonna show you the gap until I break it down a little bit, am I?
It’s not a knight’s uniform today, it’s a simple shirt and jacket. Though not as stubborn as a swallow tail suit, it is a truly squire outfit. They look great on whatever they wear because of their good face and style. The big sword stands out evil for protection, though.
“If I have a contract cancellation ritual at noon today, I’ll be leaving for the cruise soon, so stay with me.”
“Immediately?
“That’s right. I’m sorry, but if you want to get your stuff ready or say goodbye, you can do it in the morning.”
It will take five days if I go to Kruge normally. I’ve had a lot of attention, and I’ve never left early to go home. Ville will have a lot of support too, but I can’t wait for you.
“I just need this sword. I’ve asked you to dispose of all your belongings, and I’ve already said hello.”
“Really? Well, you should buy clothes and supplies over there. Shop with us. Fun.”
Even as I relax, I don’t reject you, Ville. Instead, I touched my lower back sword.
“I want to ask you one thing… don’t you take up witchkiller (Bloody Magatha)?
Witchkiller.
It is a cursed weapon that is struck and forged using a large amount of witch’s blood.
In exchange for a huge amount of magic, I can disable magic. Besides, when a witch is slashed with a witchkiller, blood smoke rises from the wound. Depending on how you use it, you can also find hidden witches.
What Ville has is the shape of his father, one of those made during the witch-hunting era. I’ve buried so many of my countrymen, it’s an abominable weapon for witches.
It doesn’t look like Ville would fall for me to take that away from him.
“Yeah. You’re going to spend time with me, but you’re anxious with a normal sword, aren’t you? Besides, it should certainly work for Warcraft as well. I’m comfortable on my way home.”
“… didn’t you make me a squire to take this away?
“No. I made you a squire because you’re my type. Your face, your voice and your personality are much nicer than Prince Rain’s. I think so.”
It was an unexpected answer, and Ville took a breath.
“Of course, it’s also harassment of the princes. Lose it and think about it. How valuable a knight Ville was.”
In fact, there were plenty of occasions in the original “Aftermath” where Ville survived his predicament because of his work. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but if Ville’s gone, the Prince and Miss Emelda could be lightly dead.
Ville was confused. “Why is my rating so high?” “Maybe I’m not going to raid the prince into the gap that pulled me apart.” “No, you’re just teasing me and enjoying my reaction.” “What a nasty guy… I hate witches because this is it”… I can see that idea through.
I exhaled small. You’d better hide some more expression, Vil.
“Witchkiller doesn’t matter if you have it. Yeah, I’d rather you had it. Think of it as a sign of trust from me. … except”
I got up. As I approached Ville, I picked the string that was tying his dark hair and took it away. My hair falls off on my shoulder.
“Hey, do what?”
“I’ll take this away. This color doesn’t suit you.”
This mint green hair string must have come from Miss Emelda, right?
I saw it in the original. When I solved a certain weird case, the child I saved thanked Emelda for a lot of hair strings. “Will you use Ville too?,” she said, “and Ville picked out this color.
Even though Emelda casually gave it away, Ville has always worn it with care and it’s an item that bores “Shit.”
Ville’s eyes chase after her stripped hair string. You look really cute.
“I’ll give you something new instead. Don’t worry, there’s no magic. Because if you don’t believe me, you don’t mind putting me on an appraisal later…. Hey, give in, Ville”
When I saw the deep red hair string I offered, Ville groaned small. However, he did not resist strongly, causing his hair to be tied together. You asked me to forgive you for the witchkiller’s sword, but you can’t refuse this, can you?
“Hehe, you look great. Look in the mirror?”
“Fine. Okay. From now on, I will use this…. so give me that hair string back. It’s what people gave me.”
“I don’t like it. We just have to kill witches, right? This is such a terrible thing to look at. – [Ignitzard]”
“Become”
My chant made my hair strings burn up. Immediately ashes and falls to the floor, the fire goes out.
Ville was dropping her shoulders, her eyes closed and she was shaking.
I thought it would be intense, but I’m doing something about it. Or it seems that grief is greater than hatred for me.
It’s a little pathetic, but I need to change my collar.
Besides, you’d better blow it off.
Original or real, she won’t be yours. As long as I’m around, absolutely.
After noon, for the ritual of dissolution of the engagement, I visited the temple.
The magicians of the country surround the Circle of Magic Circles and arrange the offerings at their best. All those terribly expensive things like rare Warcraft fangs and scales. The magic of this hand requires a great deal of magic, so I can’t help it.
“About 10 million wencas in total? Is the treasury all right?”
I’ll buy you a national hiccup. If it’s a wedding celebration, the taxes paid by sweating over the process of divestiture will still be used. It’s not strange if there’s a riot.
Ville replied with a vain voice.
“I heard that most of this offering is borne by Prince Rain’s personal possessions, or by the Chamber of Commerce he is close to…”
“Oh, really? That’s a good idea. I’m relieved.”
Naturally. As Prince Rain, you won’t want to buy any more misfortune around you, and as a nation, you can limit the future movement of princes by confiscating their personal belongings.
Whatever it is, it’s tough to be human without a nuclear “core”. I can’t believe I have to go out of my way to buy enough magic if there are three normal witches.
But the technique itself is complacent. It’s an advanced thing that no witch around here can put together.
Well, witches don’t have a choice because they don’t get their hands on areas they’re not interested in. Contracting magic between people is probably the most important thing of all.
Waiting for the ritual place to be ready with that in mind, the Chancellor approached.
“Thank you, Prime Minister, for inviting us to a lovely mansion yesterday. It made me feel comfortable.”
“That’s more than anything you can say. Dear Sonia… Your Highness Rain has also arrived here earlier. So, um… I wanted to apologize for yesterday.”
“Huh?”
If you look closely, the Chancellor was sweating on his forehead.
“Nor, of course, is it an offer to try again now, etc. I just wanted to apologize for giving you a terrible word, that’s all. You may say no. It would also be painful to face His Highness today if it were meant to be. But the…”
As the Chancellor who deposits the country, he wants you to receive the Prince’s apology.
Um, I don’t know what to do.
I feel like I just can’t finish with an apology. You can’t even believe my innocence in just one day. I guess the prince is trying to figure out the truth by exchanging words with me.
It’s a pain in the ass. But I want to ask you something, too.
“Okay. We’ll see you.”
“Is it true!
“Yes, except me and Lady Rain, and just the three of my squire villes”
Prime Minister and Ville, they both opened their eyes.
“Um, that’s…”
“You… what are you thinking?
“For sixteen years, he was engaged, albeit only in form. At the end of the day, I wanted to talk to you in a less rugged place. But you’re worried alone, aren’t you? So, Ville, you follow me.”
In the private room of the temple, Prince Rain was already waiting.
Though divinely beautiful does not change, the colour of the haze cannot be hidden. I feel like I’ve lost a lot of weight in just one day.
“Thank you, Miss Sonia. Thank you first for your generous response.”
But too bad. As far as his blue eyes go, it looks like he hasn’t broken his heart yet.
Feel like you’re willing to fight?
“Precedents are fine. We don’t have time for the ritual, and I’d like to ask you something, too. I need you to do something for Lady Rain first.”
There are two simple chairs in the room.
Me and the prince sat across the street, and Ville stood behind me. Stop staring at each other.
Ville is in a position to aim at my neck from behind. Could it have been the wrong time to burn my hair strings?
Well, there’s no way you can get your hands on me on this occasion.
There are guard soldiers standing outside the door, albeit in the Chamber, and there are signs of sorcery. You better think you’re bugged.
Neither I nor the prince nor Ville can do anything bad.
“Okay, again…. Miss Sonia Carnelian, I apologize deeply for all the rambling yesterday. There was no hard evidence, and I dishonored you and your mother. [M] No matter how much you apologize in words, it’s not something you’re allowed to do. I don’t think you can do anything about it right now. [M] Instead, it’s no wonder he’s alive now.”
“Just kidding. We won’t do that kind of noise. Words of apology, I did get them. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no harm done at the time you get a great knight as compensation. As a result, my mother’s grief of telling the truth was also fulfilled. So don’t worry, go ahead and be happy with that girl if you can.”
“… you are a truly generous woman. I’m incredibly obsessed with that. As an elderly man, I regret it, but I have no choice but to be impressed. My failure to understand who you are is the biggest factor in my failure. [M] This wouldn’t have happened if we had talked about it once in advance. I missaw you.”
“I, too, misunderstood Lady Rain. I thought it would be hard to be a prince of a country in every way, but you’re the one who can bounce back those glitches. It’s wonderful.”
Me and the prince were smiling, but the indoor air was out of cold.
Because there were thorns in each other’s polite words.
The prince lost, and I hated it.
I’m glad you didn’t marry me by mistake, us. They must have been a couple that would have frozen their surroundings. Ville is frightened by the evidence.
“I’m done apologizing, and now you need to listen to me?
“Oh, sure.”
“Who is that girl named Emelda? How did you get to know him?
Asking Ville won’t tell me, he complained, and Prince Rain nodded small.
“I can’t help but hide it now. I’m guessing you’re smart, but she’s a witch hater.”
Again, I’m relieved as the original was.
Witch hater.
It’s about those who missed that opportunity while qualifying to be witches.
First of all, what is a witch as a premise?
Fly in the sky with a swing, transform into a pretentious costume, make a covenant with the devil… I will not do anything.
The other witches surprised me. I can’t see underwear running around in any short skirt. Do you have a special enchantment?
Aside from that, the definition of witch in this world is “nuclear” core “and” sobrem “- a woman who combines two witchcraft institutions and freely exercises witchcraft”.
Magic is about the business of miracles performed by magic and art.
Nucleus and invasive brain are essential for this.
Nucleus first.
A place that creates magic. Where it is in the body varies from person to person.
All creatures in this world have magic, but nuclear-held humans can refine many times as much magic as they usually do.
Nucleus people have excellent physical abilities and many become adventurers and mercenaries. I also hear that if you crystallize and sell magic with a dedicated magic prop, you can have quite a life.
Next, the invasive brain.
It’s about a laceration-like area in the brain. It’s a place where you have to think about magic blueprints.
Humans with creative brains can invent magic props or feel the magical currents of nature. You can also use magic by drawing magic from crystals and offerings. It takes a lot of study, though.
If you become a magician that way, you will be safe for life. It’s another talent drawn from the country and the Chamber of Commerce. “Brain workers are treated preferentially in every world… heck,” the previous woman said.
There are quite a few humans born with only nuclei, only wound brains, or just one of them.
But humans born both ways are very rare. Besides, only women are born.
But even if you had a nucleus and a creative brain, you can’t just call yourself a true witch.
Because to use magic, you have to train thoroughly from an early age.
If a parent is a witch, no problem, but a daughter is born from an average person who can be a witch, it’s tragic.
I have to call a witch and have my daughter kept and raised. We really need the help of a witch to grow up properly.
If you grow up as you are without training, you will not be able to control your magic and may destroy yourself. It may also cause harm to the surroundings with forces that cannot even be called surgery.
Let the witch disciple you by the age of six, and do not return to your parents until you are a true witch.
That’s the rule of this world.
But even though my head knows, there are parents who don’t want to give their daughter to a witch.
Some witches demand a lot of money instead of picking it up. You’re a humble woman, my compatriot.
Others have an old heirloom everywhere that “my daughter, whom I put out to my disciples, was eaten by witches” and “I came back wearing dangerous ideas and the village was destroyed”. It is also impossible for a parent who had been told such a story instead of a fairy tale to fail to believe a witch.
So, it was the witch hater who ended up not being taken away by the witch and grew up in people.
It’s too late to rush into witch apprenticeship after growing up.
It’s like a bomb approaching, a big nuisance for the witches.
That’s why they call me a witch hater. Though I would just hate it for a normal human being, not just a witch.
Since your mother saved the country twenty years ago, the witch’s credibility has been restored in Mistria and the number of haters has decreased considerably.
They’re also establishing a way to not have to be a witch by excising nuclei.
So in this day and age, Miss Emelda’s presence is very rare.
“Until recently, she didn’t even know she was a hater. The power of prediction was also harshly applied to parents of nurturing to never speak out. I’ve tried not to believe in my powers.”
“I see. But it’s really rare. Hate the power of prediction…”
Most haters are solemnly cleared to blow themselves up or annoy their surroundings. It’s even hard to grow up safe.
I can still believe the story of an abnormally developed and miraculously rare brain wound of an obnoxious child. But Miss Emelda said she was “born” with the power of prediction.
No matter how good a witch is, it’s not something you can get for it. Of course I can’t either. It becomes a matter of talent, or luck.
Is this the main character correction?
I’m so angry.
“But I’m relieved. As well as the power of prediction, it should be well known that the power of haters is unstable. It’s less and less credible to predict that I will bring disaster to Mistria.”
But Prince Rain didn’t snort.
“I think there’s room for debate about its credibility. Neither me nor Bill could believe Emelda’s words at first. But I’ve seen it over and over again. Where Emelda’s predictions come in. And where her actions to overshadow the prediction avert a tragic end on a piece of paper. I apologize just after the apology, but I still believe in Emelda.”
“… I know what it’s like to want to shelter someone you like.”
“That’s not all. Never.”
I have a flamboyant grin against the serious Prince Rain.
“I have one suspicion. If possible, I want answers.”
The prince’s tense voice echoes in the cold indoors.
Heh heh, did I insult the prince a little too much, too?
“Miss Sonia. Maybe you know the future.
