Chapter 3 - ?
It was warm.
It wasn't before.
It wasn’t - she suddenly felt something move next to her, tried to open her eyes. There was something here with her, another life in this quiet but pulsating darkness. Another breath yet not taken; yet not stolen.
But she remembered. Both her and him - they had disappeared into the rising waters, intertwined, furious like children. Could the devil drown ? And why was she alive now ? Didn’t she die back then ?
Killed by him.
Maybe it was purgatory.
Still if it was, how to get rid of the neighbor ? Their smell reminded her of the faint scent that was on the devil’s fingers as he pushed her head underwater. It was difficult to describe, but hard to forget.
A very scary thought suddenly crossed her mind - one she immediately shied away from. Her little body shrunk into itself, she stopped her mind from wandering this way. Her stream of consciousness became hazy as she slowly drifted into sleep. Her last thought was a meaningless one.
