Chapter 4: The Blue Flame
"That was quite a show," said Kali.
"Finally," Astraea muttered.
She thought she had already won—until Kali arrived to kill her.
"Don't hold back," Kali said.
"I won't," Astraea replied, grabbing two swords from the fallen soldiers scattered around.
Instantly, both swords were engulfed in flames. Her pupils glowed red once more, proving she had no intention of restraining herself.
Astraea stood tall, wielding two swords ablaze with intense fire. She faced Kali, a fierce and ruthless opponent. Kali held a katana that gleamed with deadly sharpness.
Without hesitation, Astraea lunged at Kali, striking with her flaming swords. Kali raised her katana to block the attack, but the fiery blades were too strong. Kali's sword was effortlessly sliced in half, and she stumbled backward.
But she did not surrender. Rising swiftly, Kali launched a powerful punch at Astraea. Astraea dodged nimbly and retaliated with her sword. Kali evaded easily and countered with a swift kick, knocking Astraea to the ground. Astraea, however, quickly regained her footing and resumed her relentless assault.
Their battle grew fiercer. They attacked and dodged with incredible speed, each seeking an opening to defeat the other. Astraea wielded her flaming swords skillfully, but Kali relied on her superior physical strength to deflect Astraea's strikes.
Then, Astraea saw an opportunity. She moved in swiftly, and Kali failed to block or evade in time. Astraea's blade pierced Kali's neck, severing her head from her body. Astraea exhaled in relief—she had finally defeated her formidable foe.
"You were too weak for a Queen, Kali," Astraea scoffed.
But suddenly, Kali's body twitched. She reached for her severed head, lifted it, and reattached it to her neck. Within seconds, her body was whole again.
Astraea recoiled in shock—she had never anticipated this. Her fury surged as the sight reminded her of someone else with the same ability.
"You thought I was being serious? I was merely testing your abilities, As," Kali said as she summoned her true katana.
Astraea was startled again—Kali had just called her by name, despite Astraea never having mentioned it. She had only been in Everia for less than a day.
"Who are you?!" Astraea demanded, her voice slightly raised.
"You don't need to know who I am. Just focus on yourself."
In an instant, Kali appeared behind Astraea, ready to strike her down.
Sensing the attack, Astraea quickly turned and tried to block it, but her sword was cleaved apart, and Kali's blade only grazed her cheek. Kali followed up with a powerful kick, sending Astraea sprawling.
Struggling to stand, Astraea now relied solely on her raw power, without a weapon to aid her.
"How do you know my name?" she asked again.
"I don't just know your name. I know all of you—Calantha, Nimoria, Lunaria, Zaraea, Crystallia, and Valtiria. Too bad I had to kill your sister ten years ago," Kali said, slowly approaching Astraea.
Astraea stood there, panting heavily. She conjured fire at her fingertips and began chanting a spell.
"Ignis Blast!"
She unleashed a fiery explosion toward Kali, hoping the attack had struck her. But as the smoke cleared, Kali emerged unscathed.
"Nice try!"
In the blink of an eye, Kali appeared before Astraea, seizing her by the throat and lifting her off the ground.
"You're just as foolish as your sisters. You should never have fought me—I'm not your match," Kali sneered before driving her katana into Astraea's stomach.
At that moment, someone launched a powerful attack on Kali, forcing her backward.
A brown-haired woman rushed in, catching Astraea before she collapsed unconscious.
Kali's temper flared—she despised interruptions, especially when someone disrupted her momentum. She prepared to move toward them, but blue flames erupted from the ground, binding her in place. Looking toward Astraea, she saw another woman approaching from behind.
A silver-haired woman with glowing blue pupils—an elemental wielder of blue fire. Without a word, she conjured a fire tornado around them.
As the flames gradually dissipated, Kali realized that the three of them had vanished.

The next morning, Astraea slowly opened her eyes, finding herself alone in a modest old house. Confused, she tried to recall the events of the previous night.
She remembered fighting Kali—being choked, then stabbed. The memory made her lift her shirt slightly to check her wound. It had been neatly bandaged, but the pain still lingered when she moved too much.
Rising from the bed, she walked carefully, searching for the person who had saved her.
Peeking through the window, she spotted a silver-haired woman practicing martial arts with a wooden dummy. Without hesitation, she stepped outside and called out to her.
Hearing Astraea's voice, the woman halted her training. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears as she turned toward Astraea.
"You're alive," she said with a wide smile before running toward her.
She was about to embrace Astraea, but Astraea stopped her, asking, "Who are you?"
"You've really forgotten me, haven't you?" the woman replied.
"Sorry, but I don't seem to remember who you are."
"Guess who I am," the woman said, conjuring blue flames in both hands.
Upon seeing the flames, Astraea immediately recognized her.
"Oh my God, Lunaria?" she asked, needing confirmation.
"Yes, it's me."
"God, I never expected you to grow this beautiful—I almost didn't recognize you. Give me a hug."
They embraced, letting out the longing they had held back for years. They had been separated for seven long years.
As they pulled apart, Astraea suddenly felt a sharp pain from her stomach wound.
"As, what's wrong?" Lunaria asked in concern.
"I don't know—it hurts so much," Astraea gasped.
Lunaria quickly helped her back to bed, but Astraea's pain only worsened, making Lunaria even more anxious.
"What is this? Why does it hurt so much, Luna?"
"It must be the poison. Kali stabbed you with a poisoned blade. Nimoria is searching for the antidote in Mythren."
"Nimora? She's alive?" Astraea whispered weakly.
"Yes, of course. She'll bring the cure for you."
"But she's not a fighter. Mythren is filled with dangerous creatures. You have to go after her—now."
