Chapter 122: 5) Floor two round two -2
A shadow passed over Eva .
It wss very fast and sharp.
Tia froze, mid-chant, her lips parting in horror.
"Move!" Alan roared, shoving her aside using his magic, just as a massive clawed foot slammed down where she had floated seconds ago, carving a deep crater into the rock.
The Centilord had descended again.
And it wasn't the same beast anymore.
Its entire body radiated pure death.
The black-and-purple hellfire had fully consumed its form. Spiked wings arched from its back, laced with ember veins pulsing like hearts.
The skull-like face had split wider, jaws twisted unnaturally open in a perpetual scream.
A status prompt flickered above its head:
[Centilord Ascended Form – Void Incarnate]
[Passive Skill Activated: Soul Burn – All damage inflicts permanent stat drain.]
"What the hell…" Ami whispered, backing away in the air, sweat pouring down her brow despite the altitude.
Alan's expression darkened. "It's evolved... again."
"Eva!" Zara skidded beside the barely standing Eva.
She is quite durable after all she is a warrior, her glowing body flickering as her Mirage State neared collapse.
"Supreme Heal..." Tia healed her, her hair re-growing, skin coming back to a youthful state and burns vanishing.
"Cough* Cough*..."Eva coughed again. Her face was locked in a snarl of defiance.
She was shaking.
Her left arm now regenerated couldn't help but shake violently.
But, Centilord isn't a typical one to stand there and let them do whatever they want to do.
It opened its mouth wide and began to shoot acid.
Squirt*
Like a water gun, he began to shoot acid water everywhere.
Soowsh~
However, they quickly summoned three layers of barrier and protected themselves.
"Stay together!!!... I will hold him off," Alan said as he jumped into the air.
Swoosh!
With a single gesture of his hand, a blue rune appeared above the centilord, immobilizing him.
His speed gleamed brightly as he slashed the centi-lord work all his might.
His body moved on its own, it felt like he was flying and the sword had no weight.
Wooosh~
A big dimension crack appeared, the centi-lord was split into two halves yet, it was still alive.
[Hp: 3% ]
[... 4% ]
[... 5% ]
Without giving it much time to rest, Alan quickly used his powerful ability.
His body began to glow with a dark aura, and a single beam of darkness rushed forward from his fingertip, pointed towards the centilord.
The still-alive head of centilord was penetrated... The darkness instantly turned the centilord into the stardust fragments.

Woosh~
Alan landed on the ground, he felt weakness all over his body, and the sword escaped his hand and fell to the ground.
This time a red chest appears in front of them.
Just like a video game.
The air was still thick with smoke, but the battle was over.
Alan stood slowly, his breath ragged.
His body felt like it had been wrung out, like every vein inside him had been burned and rebuilt, he felt strong pain as his body adjusted to the newly added +60k strength.
The ground beneath him was still glowing faintly from the hellfire and void energy that had torn through it minutes ago.
Eva approached beside him. She didn't speak, but her gaze was fixed on the chest with suspicion.
"That thing's giving me a weird feeling..." she muttered.
Alan nodded. "It's not cursed. But it's... heavy."
"Heavy?" Tia asked as she floated closer. "Like trapped?"
"No," Alan said, narrowing his eyes. "Like it's carrying something important,"
The others exchanged wary glances but didn't interrupt as Alan reached forward and placed his hand on the top of the chest.
It opened with a soft mechanical clack, and a faint rush of heat escaped, like exhaling breath.
Inside was no pile of gold or glittering relics.
There were three things:
A crystal core, dark violet and pulsing, clearly the Centilord's heart essence. Raw mana condensed into a singular form, swirling with unstable energy.
A torn piece of cloth, black with silver embroidery that shimmered as Alan held it up.
It bore a symbol none of them recognized—an eye surrounded by flame.
And lastly, a thin, stone tablet covered in ancient runes.
Zara leaned over his shoulder. "That's not from this continent. That writing is older. Maybe forbidden Age stuff,"
Alan touched the tablet, and immediately, golden letters began to shimmer across its surface without any sound, but with thought.
It was a message embedding itself directly in his mind:
Those who defeat the beast shall bear the key. The Gate watches. Beyond lies the proving ground.
Alan: "..."
He noticed there were strange black lines in his body.
He frowned.
"The Gate...?"
Once again the water began to rise and soon it turned into the dark sea water while they were automatically on the boat skeletal ship.
The grim-reaper-like figure once again used his scythe and began to pedal without giving any rest.
Woosh~
The scene changed once again as they were sucked by a vortex inside the sea.
And this time,
They were inside a strange old temple.
[ floor 3 begins... ]
[ The temple of the forgotten God's trial ]
[ Defeat the guardian and claim the power ]
Alan blinked.
So this is what he meant by the proving ground.
He thought.
[You have 30 minutes to defeat the guardian of the floor and get out. If you fail, your souls will be trapped forever. ]
Alan frowned.
The temple loomed ominously around them, ancient stone cracked and weathered by time.
As if they had gained enlightenment.
"Stay alert," Alan cautioned, his voice echoing.
Tia and Zara walked beside him, while Eva steadied herself, her hands gripping her hammer.
Hahahahahahaha!!!
New offerings have arrived!!
Kill them all!!!
A chilling laugh resonated through the area, and a massive figure materialized
It was the guardian.
Clad in armor made of shadow, its eyes burned with a malevolent glow.
"You are in the presence of Immortal Shadow Land, Kneel!!!"
