The Invincible Son-in-law

As soon as Lin Hao sat down, Su Dingfang spoke up: "Lin Hao, Secretary Zhang was indulging in corruption, and since he is already dead, you should stay out of it. If someone with ill intentions uses it against you, it will be very disadvantageous!"

"That kind of useless person won't be a threat to anyone but you. Coming to our house right after handling the funeral, it's really bad luck!" Peng Yunyan immediately stood up and snapped at him.

"Since I'm such bad luck, I might as well leave." Lin Hao turned to leave.

Su Dingfang shouted loudly: "Since you're back, what's the rush? Sit down."

Lin Hao could only sit back down, wanting to see what these people wanted from him.

Luo Zhijun was sitting on the sofa on the other side, his eyes ablaze as if they could burn Lin Hao to ashes at any moment.

Su Dingfang's face sank, as he said coldly, "Enough, Yunyan, go prepare dinner and stop embarrassing yourself here!"

Though Peng Yunyan was hot-tempered, she didn't dare confront Su Dingfang. She gave Lin Hao a fierce glare and went to the kitchen.

Throughout, Su Muyun and Su Muchen remained silent, not showing what they were really thinking.

"Lin Hao, the investment promotion meeting the day before yesterday was very successful. I heard your abilities were recognized by the county leadership, securing your position in the county committee. Your future prospects are getting brighter."

Su Dingfang gave high praise regarding yesterday's events.

"I was just handling small matters, but I did offend quite a few people. The coming days won't necessarily be smooth." Lin Hao replied modestly.

"Lin Hao, don't demean yourself! If the leadership acknowledges your abilities, keep working hard!" Su Dingfang encouraged with a smile.

"The issue with Vice County Magistrate Luo has come to an end. As for some minor conflicts you had earlier, let them go. We are all family here and should live harmoniously..." Su Dingfang said as he glanced at Luo Zhijun.

"Dad, you're right. Lin Hao and I are brothers-in-law, our bond runs deep indeed." Luo Zhijun said with a fawning smile.

Seeing this hypocrite making a statement, Lin Hao also said with a false smile: "Dad's right, we are family, no point in holding grudges."

"Since that's the case, let's not talk about any small matters between you. Tonight, drink with me, let's celebrate Xiaoluo's smooth exit." Su Dingfang suggested a toast to resolve past grudges.

"That's a must." Lin Hao readily agreed.

The two Su sisters quickly helped dish out the food, and everyone soon gathered around the table.

Once the white and red liquor were poured, Su Dingfang raised his glass first and loudly declared: "Today we celebrate Xiaoluo's smooth escape from that dreadful place, cheers!"

"Cheers! Cheers..." Everyone raised their glasses and downed their drinks in one shot.

Having almost been tricked twice before by Luo Zhijun during drinks, Lin Hao was very restrained tonight.

"How can I help? Don't joke around. Matters concerning personnel must go through the county committee's organization department, I can't do anything about it." Lin Hao decisively rejected.

Seeing his refusal, Su Dingfang interjected with a smile: "Lin Hao, everyone knows you have a good relationship with Secretary Li. Just speak kindly for Muchen, maybe the matter will work out."

"Dad, if I can speak kindly, I certainly will. But personnel matters are really beyond my reach! Perhaps brother-in-law can think of something." Lin Hao directly passed the buck to Luo Zhijun.

Now he finally understood the purpose of calling him back for dinner tonight – it was a banquet of convenience, mainly aimed at promoting Su Muchen from deputy to chief.
