My pets and Foxy were gathered in the corner of the room, their expressions filled with evident displeasure. It was clear that they held some reservations towards Ruby.

"Why are you looking for me?" I grumbled, my voice carrying the weariness of a sleep-deprived zombie who had just clawed his way out of the grave. Without wasting any time, I flopped down onto a nearby single couch, my gaze fixed upon her.

Almost instinctively, my protective pets moved closer to me, their furry bodies finding their rightful places on my lap, shoulder, and at my feet. It was an unspoken warning, a declaration that Ruby should keep her distance from me.

Ruby's gaze shifted to my pets, a clear expression of displeasure etched across her face. She gave them a piercing glare as if attempting to assert her dominance and claim her rightful spot on the sofa. However, my furry companions remained unfazed, some pretending to be asleep while others shamelessly sought my attention, rubbing their heads against my body in a spoiled fashion. Their mischievous eyes were fixed on Ruby, their smug expressions implying that they had no intention of yielding.

Amidst the unspoken tension between them, I chose to ignore the brewing conflict. It was still early in the morning, and I was far too lethargic to play referee in this pointless power struggle.

Turning my gaze back to Ruby, who still hadn't provided an answer, I released an exasperated sigh. "If you're not going to answer me, I'll just go back to sleep," I grumbled.

In a panic, Ruby hastily interjected. "No, wait! I really need to talk to you," she pleaded.

Curiosity piqued, I shifted in my seat, my laziness momentarily pushed aside. "About what?" I inquired, my tone reflecting my lackadaisical demeanor.

Ruby took a moment to gather her thoughts, her eyes scanning the room before settling back on me. "She might ask you to do something you don't want to do," she warned.

I leaned back against the couch, considering her words. "And what exactly would that be? Is that good or bad?" I tried to cut this conversation short.

A flicker of uncertainty danced across Ruby's features. Eventually, she shook her head slowly from side to side, her disbelief evident. "I'm not sure if it's good or bad," she admitted.

"So it's a neutral act?" I assumed.

Ruby's expression grew somber, and she pressed her lips together in contemplation. "I can't say it's neutral," she clarified, her voice tinged with a hint of caution. "It's more... complicated than that. There are risks involved, Ethan. It's dangerous to be exact," she warned.

"Is she intending to kill me?" I blurted out nonchalantly.

Ruby's eyes widened, and she shook her head vigorously. "No," she replied with a hint of urgency.

" Is she intending to hurt me?" I asked once more, my voice laced with a mix of skepticism and nonchalance. As the words left my lips, I reclined further into the sofa.

Ruby paused for a moment, her brows furrowing as she considered her response. With a gentle shake of her head, she dismissed the notion. "No," she replied, her tone firm yet reassuring. "She doesn't have any intention of harming you."

I shifted on the sofa, finding a more comfortable position, looking at Ruby. "Then what's the problem?" I asked.
