The Immortal Cultivation World of Male Inferiority and Female Supremacy

Chapter 440: This Is Not Where You Belong

Rather than calling them heroic spirits, Fang Zhou felt that "ghosts" might be a more fitting description.

With semi-transparent bodies, they emitted a green glow from the inside out.

These ghostly figures, clad in full military gear, wielding weapons and flags, roamed the dense forest in groups, seemingly endless, transforming the entire Cold Valley into a sea of green.

Fang Zhou discovered something surprising — most of these ghosts were male; although there were females, they were few and far between.

He hurriedly asked Night Mouse, "What's going on? Why are there so many male heroic spirits?"

Night Mouse seemed puzzled by Fang Zhou's question, "Isn't it obvious? Most soldiers are men."

Fang Zhou: (* ̄△ ̄*)

He made a good point, and Fang Zhou found himself speechless.

Despite it being a normal situation, Fang Zhou felt surprised; perhaps it was because he had spent too long in the Cultivation World, and suddenly seeing more men than women felt unfamiliar.

"In this world, do men have a higher status than women?"

"What else would it be?"

Night Mouse replied, "But it depends, if a woman is powerful, her status won't be low either."

He had long forgotten the affairs of the outside world and couldn't remember the status of men and women, instead being more familiar with this world's dynamics.

Fang Zhou fell silent. With the two worlds connected, and the environments mostly the same, why would men have a higher status in this world?

He realized the reason men had a lower status in the Cultivation World was due to the difficulty of cultivating, with women holding an absolute advantage in power.

Could it be that men in this world didn't have such troubles?

Fang Zhou felt that if he could understand this point, he might help his male peers in the Cultivation World break free from discrimination and oppression.

As night fell, after these heroic spirits appeared, Night Mouse insisted Fang Zhou stop for the night.

Going further would easily result in being discovered, and these heroic spirits would see all living things as enemies and attack them. Don't be fooled by their ground-walking appearance; they could fly without warning.

Fang Zhou had to comply with Night Mouse's request. The suggested way of spending the night was unusual — digging a hole, the two of them hiding inside, covered with the Clothes of the Dead, making them undetectable to the spirits.

Fang Zhou was quite resistant to this peculiar method of passing the night; he'd rather dig a hole himself and bury himself than squeeze in with Night Mouse, who likely hadn't bathed in years.

Night Mouse was speechless at Fang Zhou's qualms, "So what do you propose?"

Fang Zhou naturally had alternatives, like digging a hole and burying the gourd, hiding inside the gourd himself — a far better method than Night Mouse's.

But Fang Zhou decided not to do so. He considered it and said to Night Mouse, "I can send you to an absolutely safe place, and you lend me the Clothes of the Dead for one night, okay?"

Night Mouse, clutching his cloak warily, asked, "What do you plan to do?"

Fang Zhou smiled slightly, "Nothing, just want to stroll around a bit."

Night Mouse shook his head hastily, "No way, I can't lend it to you!"

The Clothes of the Dead were his life-saving possessions; how could they be lent to Fang Zhou for a whim?

Fang Zhou didn't waste words and simply stretched out his hand, "Five jars of water."

Night Mouse shook his head firmly, "Not even ten jars!!"

"Twenty jars."

"Deal!"

Finally, Fang Zhou borrowed the Clothes of the Dead from Night Mouse in exchange for twenty jars of Sword Lake Water.

And Night Mouse was sucked into the gourd, a place of absolute safety.

Covered in the cloak, Fang Zhou wandered the dense forest alongside these heroic spirits.

He wasn't doing this out of boredom or whimsy but to observe closely, attempting to figure out the reason why males in this world could maintain their advantage.

Although Night Mouse's cloak was dirty-looking, like it had been taken from a beggar, it was certainly an artifact. Once worn, both monsters and these heroic spirits considered him one of them.

Fang Zhou, upon close observation, discovered that these heroic spirits weren't aimlessly wandering. They were systematically training, fighting unseen enemies, running back and forth through the forest, continuously re-enacting scenes from their past lives.

This was different from Lorric City's historical phantoms. Those were shadows recorded by the city, while these heroic spirits were a fusion of soul and spirit after death.

Fang Zhou attempted soul conversations with some heroic spirits, receiving only simple responses, filled with obsessions from their past lives.

For instance, wishing to return home, missing loved ones, establishing achievements, and so on.

And unsurprisingly, the term "fire" appeared the most frequently again; in the minds of people in this world, fire held the utmost importance.

Unknowingly, Fang Zhou followed the heroic spirits, wandering quite far, traversing a long distance across the valley.

Through his observations, most of these heroic spirits were male and possessed immense strength; by Cultivation World's standards, at least tiered within the Foundation Establishment Realm.

And this was merely the power they exhibited when re-enacting scenes from their past; as heroic spirits, who knew if they would be stronger now?

In the dead of night, Fang Zhou nearly followed the spirits out of the valley. As the spirits turned back, he joined another group, intending to leave secretly at night.

Before he could exit the valley, a special heroic spirit stepped out from the dense forest.

It was a female heroic spirit, adorned in luxurious armor and a cloak different from the common soldiers, though the armor was heavily scarred, indicating a fierce battle during her life.

The reason Fang Zhou considered this female heroic spirit special was because upon her arrival, the other spirits nearby knelt, offering a salute to her.

Fang Zhou immediately engaged in soul conversations with the kneeling spirits, all of which had one response.

King!

This female heroic spirit was their king.

Fang Zhou then turned his soul conversation to this female spirit, who cooperatively responded.

Extinguished flames...

Filled with regret...

Pain...

Food...

The beginning made sense, but what was with the "food" part?

As Fang Zhou felt puzzled, the female spirit abruptly stopped, turned her head, and looked towards him.

Fang Zhou's body stiffened; previously, none of the numerous spirits noticed him during the soul conversations. This was the first to actually spot him.

Her features were blurred, face unrecognizable, yet judging solely from her facial outline, she was a beauty.

Fang Zhou felt her gaze scrutinizing him, which made him slightly nervous, as the mountains surrounding him were filled with spirits.

If this female spirit deemed Fang Zhou an enemy and ordered an attack, he would first-handly experience the feeling of a whole army coming after him.

As Fang Zhou hesitated about whether to escape, a female voice suddenly resonated from deep within his heart.

"Outsider, this is not a place you should stay, go back!"
